The bear does attack players often in this area, everytime I visited this place I was able to hear a bear growling from a distance but luckily none attacked me :)

I heard the bear growling from a distance but never got attacked by one
After you loot everything from box, just set up a camp, leave the camp and come back to the shack. Items will respawn. No need to ride that long way.

If you get attacked by a grizzly, stand still and it will bluff charge you and walk away usually
I found 2 dead guys and 2 cattleman revolvers.. only was able to keep one because I alewsybhad one
But i want unlimited chicken nuggies :(
