- When it comes to film photography, the lens and film option that you choose is more important than the actual body. In this video I discuss the Bessa R3M! Although there are other Bessa cameras with different frame line options, I enjoy the 40mm frame lines on this one.

My man. The lens and the film type is the biggest deal with film cameras, and I always thought that unless you needed something specific out of it (mods/drive modes, etc.) - and I LOVE the example shots. That grain is freaking awesome. Helps that you're such an amazing photographer!
Thanks for watching man! I think that it’s definitely lens and film 🤙🏼🙏🏼
Cosina in Japan bought the rights to the Voigtlander name decades ago. These were designed and made in Japan, not Germany. Cosina also owns the Zeiss name too. While these are less expensive than a Leica M6, they actually increased in price significantly over time. When these were sold new, they used to be $600.00, and used ones used to only sell for $450.00. Now it is hard to find one in good condition for less than $1,000.00.
Sorry I’ll get it right next time. Thanks for watching.
Years of film shooting, darkroom processing both color and b+w and printing. Don’t care to go back to non-digital/ mirrorless, but admire those who do. Nice intro to cam that can do film so well.
Thanks so much for watching!
Yo Hunter ! You make impressive images especially that video of that couple from Germany ? I never knew your channel existed till the algorithm threw it up when i searched for the 28mm Biogon. This particular is great to use but has the propensity for shutter failure which is often irreparable. Although i am a film Leica user, any other camera with a M mount can fill in like the Zeiss Ikon etc. Thank you for what you do.
Shout out to the algorithm! I am pretty sure the Bessa L and T models were the ones that had so many shutter problems, don’t hear a lot about the Bessa R series having that issue. Thanks for watching man!
tbh this makes me want to try black and white portraiture at some point. Film is generally pretty intimidating as a guy who started out with digital and I feel like I just expose incorrectly a little too often for some reason but these shots are A1 so it might just be time to burn through a few rolls.
I suggest over exposing just a tiny bit, film had a lot of latitude on the brighter end than it does on the darker end. Opposite of digital for sure! Thanks for watching as always man!
@@hunterhart1 lawd 😭 I will try it this week. I need all the Double H content I can get 😤
@@omarknowsphotos I got all the content ya need big guy
The Bessa R-Line is a good camera, but it is not an M6. The M6 is far superior in built quality, feel and quietness of the shutter. But if you only want an M-Mount-camera regardless of any of those points, the R-Line is good.
For me, the M6 does much more than the Bessa (I owned both). With the M6, I want to shoot every chance I get, I didn't have the same feeling with the Bessa. My tip would be: try out both and then decide.
Definitely think you misunderstood. It is the best M6 alternative, not the best M6. I said if you have the money to get the M6, get it. If you don't then look into this system. Thanks for watching.
Glad I found this. Former M6 owner, looking to get back into it for the compact lenses that have that Leica punch. But I don't want to pay $7k for a camera and lens combo. Rather spend the buck on the glass than the box that collects the light, particularly since parts are getting hard to come by for the M6.
I’m glad you ran across the video. Always trying to help people save a bit when they can. This camera really is great and fun to use, you should definitely look into their systems! Thanks for watching!
Nice review. One question though...is there a diopter adjustment?
No there is not one, sorry! Thanks for watching
We’re the cinestill 50D photos also shot on the 40mm Minolta?
Yes
I’d love to get a Leica but I’m more into video and can’t justify a camera just for photography
I completely understand that, but it’s a film camera and they’re all just for photography.
sorry it's not Leica look😢
It’s the same lens, different markings.
