I like Norman Brown he's one one of my favorites. But he just did a live show...but in my opinion. The sound wasn't as tight or close to his sound on his CD...

Personally, what hooked me to his music was the sheer beauty of brevity and simplicity embedded in his playing on top of the aforementioned qualities.
I never heard of Ronny Jordan until about 2 years ago when I heard one of his songs on pandora. I bought all of his albums the same day. This guy was amazing!
Although there are still too many people who have not heard his music, no one who has been introduced to Ronny Jordan has not listened to his music once. Legacy lives on.

Met Ronny in Barcelona in 2006. He was very kind and signed all my cd's. A real gentleman. They had swopped the venue a few times, which pissed him off clearly. He tore the roof of the sucker that night (with a trio). One year later, out of shame, the organisers put him as top of the bill on the Voll Damm jazzfestival. Karma! 😗

Been a fan of Ronny's for many years. Another great artist gone too soon. Love to drum to his music.
One of the great Jazz artist of all time. His musical work is one of the reason why I love "smooth jazz" so much.
He was my gateway to jazz hip hop and his collaboration with the late Guru had me floored. Ronny never overplayed and was always in the pocket.
I love to dance on his music and his Wes Montgomery our Grant Green style on guitar is wonderful

I went to see Ronny Jordon in NY . And he apologised that his band were still in London and the band he was with were New your session players. They had a couple of hours to get familiar with Ronnys music. True master of his craft. R.I.P Ronny Jordon

@@smkim6103 the other part l left out, is half way threw his set, he stopped to acknowledge the band and promoters of the gig,then he said and I would just like to say my Uncle George Benson is here. Well I nearly jumped out my body. I looked over my shoulder and there he was, George Benson. Happy as could be to watch Ronny play. Yeah the uncle bit was a joke but wow what an experience. One I will remember and feel for ever. Thank you Ronny Jordon. 🙏🏽

I still cannot forget the first time I discovered his second album in 1996 at a specialist record shop. Still to this day, I feel so indebted to his musical legacy.

The direct answer to Melvin Sparks from UK was Ronny Jordan, who was even more jazzy and bluesy than MS. Actually, RJ was a kind of reincarnation of the great Wes. What a shame that they are all gone now!
Zachary Bureaux was also gone too soon. But their musical legacy lives on!

@@smkim6103 Yes, Zachary Breaux truly was! So nice to hear you mention him because his gifts were definitely unheralded! His tone was a bit like Ronny Jordan's on certain songs. However, given that Mr. Breaux was from Texas, he definitely brought his own soulful geographic roots to the fretboard (just as Ronnh Jordan did with his roots steeped in England)... Loved the music of both guitarists. And it seems that so many artists whose music we bought regularly during the 1980s and 1990s have transitioned since! Grateful for the music that they left for all of us to embrace. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless Ronny Jordan, Zachary Breaux, and so many more (Hiram Bullock, Jeff Golub, Chuck Loeb too many more to list)! Blessings to you and all!
