@AfterPrisonShow, I would like to speak to this young man, if possible. I’m a preacher and I KNOW the prison system! I feel bad because there are many in prison with mental illness. Most are successful after they meet Jesus. If there is a way to get in contact with this young man please let me know.

Unfortunately, that is, often, not the case. The kid's not going to summer camp, with a bunch of kids he doesn't know, after all. But, if the prosecutor, and judge, are sane, and not pushing personal (or political) agendas, he may get a very light sentence, and court ordered psychological treatment. I hope he gets help. He seems like a decent enough guy. And, schizophrenia is frequently treatable, with counseling and meds.

I was facing some time for dealing, and smuggling a couple years ago, I had an entire year on pre trial, where I started getting more involved in my church, did a lot of community service on my own, started working out again and got in great shape, never missed a drug test and had a lot of my family come to my sentencing date and by the time that came around the judge ended up telling me that she didn’t want to ruin the good work I had been doing and that she felt comfortable giving me a year of house arrest and 6 months of 40 hour weeks community service. So whoever is in a similar situation pre trial COUNTS. Fix your life BEFORE you go to prison.
** and pray, people don’t realize how much that helps. People love a comeback story, so don’t let your mistakes define you, don’t wallow in self pity, just put one foot in front of the other and let your comeback define you.

He MUST have pissed off everyone or done something so bad to them where they wouldn’t send him a few dollars here and there. It’s natural for a family member to feel some kind of empathy for him and his situation and send him a little something to be a little comfortable. The cats I met in prison, who’s family members chose to banish them were the type type of people who burned everyone, who only cared about themselves, who were ONCE on top of the world and shatted on everyone, and are now incarcerated and family, friends, etc, now totally turned their backs on them….

I spent 2 years going to court over this and I just had my case dismissed on July 10th. All I had to do was take a gun safety course (which was kind of a bullshit class because it didn't teach any actual firearm safety) and do 10 hours of community service. Like when he brought up the bit where he was scaring his kid stepsister, I could easily see how another inmate might take it the wrong way and presume he was attacking her with a bat. Word spreads quickly, and if the inmate heard it wrong, it could spiral out of control.
Not saying it'd happen, but thought I'd put that out there.
