      Not sure about which feels more powerful but zero to sixty and quarter mile times are virtually identical. Zero to sixty time website posts actual tests. 1200C 4.2 to sixty&12.9 quarter mile. Softail heritage classic 114 is 4.4 to sixty& 13.4 quarter mile. Sportster likely masks speed better since it is more sporty. Softail likely reacts more to heavy throttle due to it's soft cushy ride

      I'm coming from an XB12: I was set on a used XR1200. Then everyone convinced me to get a new bike.
      The 1200 Evo powered Roadster will carve better through the Swiss Hillside, but the the mid-sized 1753cc Milwaukee 8 bike seems like more bike, for the money, without going full bagger.

      XB12! Sounds like you lean towards the sportier bikes. Both would be nice, maybe ask if the freedom promise promotion is still running, you can try out a Sportster first than you have a year to trade it in 🤔 The suspension feels solid in the softail compared to the Sportster, it’s going to be a more relaxed ride but nice through the corners

      The Sportster is a top heavy, unpleasant bike. You feel like you are on it rather than with it if that makes any sense. It just doesnt feel good to ride. Buy the Softail, bigger engine, lower center of gravity, better controls and feel, plus it will hold its value better. Its a nobrainer.

    Lets be honest, cruisers are slow. i just sold my Yamaha raider 1900cc and still felt slow coming from a s1000, i then bought a 1200 sportster and have tons of fun. For me riding a 750 pound bike got old cause of the weight. Speed is not everything. If you want my opinion buy 2 bikes a small cruiser and a fast sportbike. Most days i just want to cruise around town

    If you just got your rider license, but are a big guy and do not want to first buy a sportster to then have to sell it... and your dealership doesn’t trade or have any promotions... would you consider buying the Softail Standard and maybe reduce the power of the motor for a while until you get used to the power and then take out the limitation? I know it might be a weird ass question.

    • @TryItWithTim
      @TryItWithTim  4 роки тому +2

      Great questions and I can see where you are coming from as a new rider. Here are my thoughts...As far as being a big guy, I dont think youll have issues on a sportster especially if you get something with forward controls. I also started on a 1200 48 and at first I thought it was going to be too much power. With the sportsters and even the softails, the power is in the low end. Meaning the top speed is not high, you just have to get used to that torque. If you just take your time and ride around the block and locally to get a feel for clutch control and throttle you can handle the bike. If you already think you may sell a sporty go for the softail. Honestly, dont even think youll have to reduce the power. Engine CC on harleys is not the same as a sport bike. So eventhough it may seem like a big engine and high cc, the bike is not going to take off from under you if you go at your pace. Softails are also more balanced and IMO easier to ride. Take your time when you take off and be smooth with your inputs and youll be good! Let me know if that helped :)

    Great video thanks! I currently have the Iron 1200 and feel a little cramped up at 5’11” with the mid controls. Since I’m eligible for the Freedom Promise I was considering the Softail Standard. My only concern is that they also have mid controls, but the fact that they have a bigger frame than the Sportster, do you think that I would be more comfortable on it? Thanks in advance.

    • @TryItWithTim
      @TryItWithTim  3 роки тому +2

      Yooo thanks for checking out the video! Good question, The Softail Standard feels more spacious for sure. You are on the taller side so the best bet is to take one out on a spin. Have you considered the Fat Bob? Might be able to get a real good deal on one of those, as well as the sport glide. I mention those because they have forwards and you would love the feel.

    • @LA-ff6zk
      @LA-ff6zk 2 роки тому

      Dude you will be very comfortable on the street bob. With the mini apes and mids on the street bob you will be fine. The mids are a little forward of a traditional mid. Move the handlebars upright when you get it and it will be so comfortable. I am 5"11 and its a perfect fit. The M8 motor is a beast, It has so much potential and tons of torque. If price isn't an issue get the street bob you won't regret it. A few things that aren't great are the factory seat, mufflers, brakes other than that its a really nice nimble bike.

    I'm about to get my first Harley but not ridden any of them. I do mostly weekend rides (when the weather is good 😅) and some commuting to work, no highway riding though. I do want to be able to bring my other half on some shorter trips as well. Would the Iron 1200 or Street Bob be best? My experience riding is 2 years on a Yamaha XSR 700 (Naked Bike). I would consider the Softtail Standard with a coastal kit but the chrome has put me off a bit.

    • @TryItWithTim
      @TryItWithTim  4 роки тому +1

      Whats up brotha! Did you ever take your other half on the Yamaha? In my opinion the Street Bob is the way to go and it is not difficult to ride at all and it comes blacked out :) Also you can adjust the suspension for a passenger. However, since you don't ride often such as commuting and highway I would still consider the Iron 1200 as well. I think its going to come down to your budget and taste. Sportsters are very capable of 2 up riding and is perfect for weekend stuff. Go with the street bob if you foresee longer road trips and highway riding. Maybe youll start riding more once you get it and see how awesome it is :) I hope I didn't confuse you even more LOL

I want a bike that I can own for years to come without upgrading so it feels like a solid choice going a bit bigger than the Iron 1200 😀 not confusing at all! Great tips so cheers for that 😎

    Great vid!! I'm a new rider and I'm 5'5 and I would rather get a bike that I'll keep for a while. The low rider S and the fat Bob are what I'm leaning towards. Do you think that either bike is suitable for my height and current skill level?

    • @TryItWithTim
      @TryItWithTim  4 роки тому +5

      Sup Romel, what are you currently riding? As far as your height goes, the Softails are pretty low profile and seat height is almost identical to a Sportster, they are a bit heavier though. I think if you have a good head on your shoulders and willing to put in the work to practice and not be a hooligan and respect the motorcycle, you can handle it. Good thing is Harley has the Freedom Promise where you can trade in your Sportster for full value towards the Softail within a year. If you go that route, don't dump any money into modifications and just ride the Sportster to get good. With all that being said, I suggest you go with the motorcycle you really want. Take the time to practice. When I first got my Harley I was riding around the neighborhood and empty parking lots until my skill level increased. Hope this helps, let me know if you have other questions :)

After the test ride i felt no much difference between both bikes in term of riding, power difference if not THAT noticeable. At the end for me both are very much similar, so i saved my self plenty of money and went with the sportster which is by the way the only Real Harley-Davidson for almost halve the price of a Softail.
