Vindaloo has nothing to do with aloo!! the 'aloo' part of vindaloo comes from the Portuguese word 'alho' which means garlic. This chef has no idea what he's doing.
@@cambrelladabreo6132 you goans have changed the recipe according to your taste, the original recipe doesn't have potatoes in this if you want to try original ask any of your east indian friends.
I am vegetarian but i truly liked this video. The owner seems very lovely by heart. "Hum pyarse banatey hai pyrse khilatey hai" Friends pyar is the main ingradient for cooking and sharing food with known or unknown people. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Vindaloo does NOT mean vinegar and aloo. The word 'aloo' comes from Portuguese 'alho' which means garlic. It would be greatly appreciated if you guys do some research beforehand.
It's vindalho which means vinegar and alho which in Portuguese is garlic. If the executive chef doesn't know this simple thing then i wonder what he must be cooking.
Hello friends😊!!! I am Goan and married to a Sikh. Even my husband can just look at this and say what a crap, insulting the Goan food. To be frank to taste the original Goan food they need to visit the Goan families or the old restaurants owned by the original Goankars in our Goa or locally. If they visit high end resorts or the restaurants owned by migrants, they will never know the taste and end up this way. But the point is don't teach us about our Goan food with such shows very confidently and saying our favourite word "Sushegaad". Need to ask the chef does he know what Human or Ambotik is!!!!
Dear friend, please if you don't know about our Goan delicacy and food than do not just name it for the sake of naming it and attracting the guests at your restaurant. As few people rightly said the chef and the host doesn't know what Vindaloo is and just assumed their own thoughts. Just by saying "Sushegaad" doesn't make you a Goan. And please don't say Hindu and Christian version, we never think that way. Our fish curries are similar. We use vinegar in specific food that we cook. Vindaloo and sorpotel are one of our Goa's signature recipes. Very disappointing video.👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Hi Yukta, thanks for your comment. Yes we have got comments questioning the authenticity of the dishes and rightfully so! we will be more upfront about the authenticity of the dishes and investigate into its originality!! but many of these dishes have been customised and modified to suit a wider customer base who visit the restaurant... but the food did taste very good
Thank you for your reply, I appreciate you. To be frank my family lives in that area and last year when we came down to India we did plan to go there but later dropped. We are really very foodie family we travel all the way to places like Kolhapur only to eat tasty food no matter even if it's a roadside Dhaba while we lived in India. Goan food we cook at home and do eat all the time in Goa also we have visited most of Bombay's restaurants. Well I meant the chef should know the details and he should be telling you the accurate info if you aren't sure off.. If the one who cooks don't know the details than it's such a disappointment. I realised it that the restaurant has managed to do the recipes as per the local guests taste. Just keep yourself in our shoes and think what if someone shows a wrong recipe for gives wrong details about puran poli or any other food recipe that's how exactly I felt. Iam from hospitality background and we were taught to taste and know the ingredients and details of it so that if a guest asks we should know on the tip of our tongue giving accurate information. SORRY about all this but just that next time you may be careful as your hosting the show. 😊
Have been visited this place last month and it was really disappointed for me ordered bombil fry which was literally uncooked not upto the mark highly recommend....you should give a try at hotel malvan thane instead!
Don't fool people please. Vindaloo doesn't have potatoes at all. T hats why I can't give full points to this restaurant. They call it gomantak plus restaurant. But see what he roots are and make that.
Hey, Vindaloo has nothing to do with aloo. Not a right reference that you and the chef talked about. Vindaloo is a Portuguese word, not a mixture of the two words, vindegar and aloo. Potatoes are the last thing you would want in Vindaloo. Plus, Vindaloo is primarily a pork dish, not any other meat. Mutton or Chicken Vindaloo is an adjustment, ask any Goan and they will agree.
Not the authentic Goan food at all. As everyone else said, Vindalho never has potato in it. It is a Portuguese word. Also, it's not the green masala that we stuff the pomfret with but mostly the red rechead masala. Please convey the right message.

This is stupid remix variety of vindaloo. Authentic Vindaloo has got nothing to do with potato in it. It is simply garlic and vinegar from which it gets it name. It's a Portuguese dish

Lol right 😂
ONLY HINDU CUISINE IS THE ORIGINAL GOAN CUISINE.. FUCK PORTUGUESE CUISINE
Its because the owner does not belong to Goa but has taken name Gomantak just for the sake of his business 😀

Vindaloo or Vindalho does not have aloo. Vin means vinegar and Alho means Garlic. Thus vinegar and garlic are the core ingredients of this dish.
Try trishna
Prices on the menu is very still affordable and food looks delicious
