I was curious about the NEO and watched several videos, but I already have the Mini 4 Pro, Avata 2, Autel Enterprise and just ordered the Air 3s. They each do what the NEO does so much better. The NEO would be fine for a first time drone buyer.
Im new to FPV and NEO/Avata. I watched a lot of videos but your channel is by far the best and helpful i found yet. You do tests that i wanna see. Most other channels do always the same basic stuff. Thanks a lot bro :)
Funny tests with surprisingly good outcomes. I prefer to put the payload at the bottom of the drone. This lowers the center of weight and makes it less of a balancing act. I guess it makes controlling it more easy.
@@RonnyLam yes true bottom mount for a lower CoG does help but I wanted to simulate what happens if people mount an action camera which typically gets placed on top.
@@dronewilder5234 I noticed taking the prop guards off allowed for a little more weight before the weird dipping. Not worth it IMHO. My application would be to add lights to the bottom and facing forwards for "what was that noise" missions at night :)
@@jasonzdora or a strobe light - technically that should be fitted at night anyway and they can be obtained at very low weights. Just something to fend of the Drone Rule Karens who might complain 😂
Great video and idea. It oculd be used to deliver small items in a SAR mission, along iwth larger drones. We gave tested delivering a unit of blood and HT radio with the Autel EVO 2 with a sling load attachment
I tried an Insta360 GO 3S the other day with a custom holder for the Neo. Air performance was crappy and the poor Neo screamed like hell. And they were just 39 grams.. To be honest I wouldn't put anything on top, too much stress for the engines. Mini and Avata series can lift some weight, but Neo doesn't seem up to the task. Still, great video, as always. You become my favorite Neo channel with just four-five videos.
Being a german engineer I approve the clever satsuma mount. 😄 If you look at the two Neos on top of each other, you have to think of a mating process. Maybe there will soon be a bunch of little Neo 2s.

I think for this shot it was just done with auto settings as the footage wasn’t important to the experiment but normally I would shoot close to 1/60s shutter, 30fps, auto iso, max iso 400 or 800
Sorry I meant „max iso“ at 800. iso control set to auto and ev to -0.3 or -0.7. aiming to have auto iso hitting 100-200 most of the time. Alternatively fix auto to 100 or 200 but then you don’t get HDR video.
For HDR the drone has to be in some form of auto settings so like I suggested frame rate of 30fps, shutter speed 1/60, iso set to auto and ev set to -0.3 or -0.7.
You ask all the questions nobody thought needed answering, but once asked, well now we need to know of course. Have you tried cranking sport mode up to max speed on Air 3S yet? You will need a tailwind to reach it, the extra 1° of tilt only creates potential for 97.2 KPH, DJI says it requires a 6 m/s tailwind.
@@BlairAir I’ve had over 90kmh on CE mode without trying so shouldn’t be too hard but I’ll certainly be giving it a go when it’s next windy (shouldn’t be long!)
I really wish they'd make a bigger battery for it. Not in size, but in capacity. Sure it'd be heavier, but I think this video shows the drone could easily handle another 20 grams or so of battery (twice the current basically)
Some say testing an Avata 2 and an Avata piggy back spawned the first Neo... The one without the battery goes on the bottom though. Neat test, fun video
Hovering might be consuming more power than flying forward, resulting in that stuttering. Might also be heat issue due to the strain it puts to the motor, resulting in some interlock, and increase air flow when flying forward mitigate that. Just guessing here.
You should hang a tea bag on your Neo and dip it into a cup of boiling water. A Brit with your skills should be able to make a proper remote cuppa. Might come in handy if we ever have to be socially distant again!

So wouldn't those objects block the gps signals? GPS requires line of sight. And I presume the antenna is located in the central body on the upper surface. Not sure how well it was reporting position via sats during your test. But the vertical especially is more prone to jumps with bad signals. Just a possible explanation for the Neo dropping like that (or a contributing factor). You've got some great videos. I've been enjoying them. Looking forward to flying my Neo upon my return from my business trip.
@@OnlineLuc thats quite possible to be a reason for the drift in my first attempt but regarding altitude control I believe at low altitudes this is done using bottom sensors and then only at higher altitudes solely with GPS.
From these tests I believe an avata 2 can pick up and bring back a lost neo from an inaccessible place. Hope to see you go fishing a neo with an avata 2.
A few times I took off without checking the number of satellites, then had it update the home point while it was in the air, oops. I also noticed you do a manual takeoff in several videos, so I decided to go find out how it is done as I was curious.

@@riffraff-ss3du in my experience dji motors tend to have exceptional lifetime unless they get accidental damage. If treated well, they will probably last as long as the rest of the drone
It would be perfect if it could carry a spare battery and activate instantly in the air :) I guess that even if consumption increased due to weight, our battery life would have increased to about 25 minutes. I think there's someone who can do it :)

A waitress/waiter asking for a tip is a financial transaction and the embarrassing part comes from the fact it would put the customer on the spot. Me asking people to subscribe is more like the restaurant asking the customer to be added to their mailing list to stay informed on future offers etc. That’s just my take on it though and I’m grateful for your support to this point regardless!.
