So so important. The family unity is so important and anything we can do to foster that is wonderful.

I also believe meal time as a family is important. I hope those listening to this will act on it if it's not happening. Your conversation starters were alao good ideas. Of course family meal prayers are unifying in the best way also. 🙏🙌🙏💖

We go around after the meal blessing and say what we're thankful for. Also a family of 8 kids. At some point - we started the "fork and spoon show" - one person would share during the meal what they did that day, or found interesting, a story they read, or poem, etc. no one could interrupt. Lots of good conversations and memories.

Love this! Never been more thankful for the chats around the dinner table, as I am now as an adult..they have helped shape many lifelong decisions🙏🏾all Glory to God for making my parents prioritize having dinner together

It’s a wonderful tip for families! We have several kids in sports and sometimes meals look different so we’ll try this in the car on the way to practice…

Love this video! So helpful and encouraging. Highs and lows have been a great practice for our family, and also conversation cards. We also practice observing the Lords Day from Saturday night to Sunday night every week. No shopping, or organized sports. Just family time, two nice meals, we light a couple blessed candles, play games with the kids, go on hikes. We also try to observe the major feast days as well with special dinners and home catechism activities.

Love this video! Its and idea of what an ideal family should practice. However its very difficuilt when your spouse has a different mindset. Usually our family eats at different times (our kids are adults now). Occasionly, we do eat together. Yes, we say our prayers before meals first. Sad to say most often than not, we end up arguing as we have different opinions on a particular topic we're talking about! Due to this matter, I prefer to eat peacefully and mindfully or just listen. Don't get me wrong, i know its a fantistic idea for conversation and get to know what's on your children's minds, but as for my adult son who now is the only one at home, prefers his privacy.....on a lighter note, I'm happy to say we practised this habit 😊 God bless you both and your lovely family ❤

I hear you, my family is the same as what you mentioned. But we have to be an example, be caring, pray together if you can. Half the time I'm by myself to eat, but I'm never alone, the whole heavenly court hears and sees. We always have to be mindful of that and keep our hearts open to Their love and care!

We too do 3 things we are grateful for and 1 of them also why eg. Grateful for my friends because they made me smile today. We do this after our prayers. During dinner ( not always...work in progress), we go around the table and each of us say one things we like about every person at the table including ourselves.

I love this and our 89 year old mom was just talking about how she was glad to have raised her family when she did as we always sat and ate meals together! I am thankful for that. I didn’t do as well with my family 😢

Thank you for the video. This is something that our family is working toward. We're currently getting the kids used to muting everything during dinner. Baby steps, I suppose.

Times definitely have changed. Before we were of working age (had a car, etc) all meals were at home together. My father wasn't always there because he was a salesman and had to drive long distances - but mom would make dinner - and there was a set time when it was served. You didn't have optional times. No tv most school nights. If you finished your homework - maybe you could watch some TV after 8pm. This was in the 60s - definitely a different time. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't want to go back.

It is an important thing to do. More times than not we ate as a family but usually me and the kids would start and dad would sit down to eat a little later cause of his work schedule. That said the kids always ate with me as the parent letting dad join in late. We had 4 kids and to set the record straight, they weren't all perfect but they could have been a lot worse. ❤🥰🙏🏽

Sounds good but for some of us we have to work many hours (not through choice) and the children go to school. There is no opportunity apart from Saturdays, maybe.
