The big papa in this problem is Stainless steel which is an extremely extremely common alloy found in nearly everything, Stainless steel is made out of Iron, Chromium, and....Nickel. Thats why its a big issue. Nothing is worse than buy a very expensive phone just to find out that it gives you a really bad rash.

My skin started itching, and flaking after starting to using a stainless steel necklace. It's now all red and looks like a bug bite.

I had a finger joint replaced and because they used nickel pins i reacted it took 2yrs to remove the joint it never healed. I then mentioned my nickel allergy and was told that most joint replacements contain nickel so when i had my knee and full left shoulder done i made sure it was nickel free and i had no problems. I told them from the beginning i was allergic to nickel. If you have problems with cheap jewellery don't allow nickel anywhere near you, insist that its nickel free.

I discovered my nickel allergy when I got a new pair of glasses and ended up with an itchy, blister type rash in spots where my glasses would touch my face

I suspect something similar happened in my case... I'm not totally sure of the cause but this was one of my thoughts too .... Switched to contacts or my old plastic frames.

@@marialagattuta5438 if your metal frames give you a reaction, you probably have a nickel allergy. I only use contacts or plastic frames now

I use transparent good nail polish for my watch on the parts that touches the skin and on my jewelry, when I broke my shin bone I refused the operation and having implants because I know I have metal allergy but gold is fine with me no reaction

I have nickel allergy and I am not super allergic to nickel if it something like stainless steel it justs stings quite a bit. If I ever drink out of a stainless steel water bottle my lips and whole mouth goes numb and stings.

Thank you Dr for the food breakdowns. I haven’t worn a necklace in a long time and suddenly during Easter I was itching like crazy and now I have a rash because of it.

Most stainless steel jewelry contains nickel too. I didn’t find out I was allergic until recently. Bought a stainless steel necklace thinking it’d be fine. Took a shower with it and my entire body broke out 💀 Ends up it was 305 stainless. Apparently 316 is “surgical” grade but still contains trace amounts of nickel.

I have noticed the same thing. I got a new watch with a metal bracelet and I broke out into hives after I took a shower with it. I guess the water and soap is reacting to metal perhaps?

My Apple Watch did this to me. It’s in the circular metal piece on the wristband.

No just tell them your allergic to nickel and you should get an allergy free one. If only i had know in the beginning i would not have a disfigured joint free finger, i did not mention my nickel allergy as it never occurred to me that they would use it.

My Gold 42mm Apple Watch Series 2 with Toasted Coffee/Caramel Woven Nylon Band is better in the Nickel-Free than the Rose Gold and the Space Gray.
