+BetweenTwoShores If You checked out their new album "Lost Isles" they really don't. They stay true to their sound especially with this cover. They can be very technical with their breakdowns though. But check out Lost Isles it is definitely worth it. The three singles released for it are very good as well. Like I said very technically done but good sounding.
So the other day I was with my friend. I was like ''Hey, you wanna hear a Beyoncé cover?" She was like "Alright, sure!" So I took my headphones out and put them on her head. *Sets phone down slowly and walks away with terror in eyes*
i'm so happy most of my friends have a diverse music type like me so we can listen to screamo, alternative, edm, pop, indie, rock, sometimes country and we will all enjoy it
I feel like this is going to be one of those songs that a lot of elitists will hate to death because it's a complete twist of the song that might not work well in general for most of the Punk Goes... Audience. There was August Burns Red's cover of "Baby One More Time" in Volume 2, Asking Alexandria's "Right Now (Na Na Na)" in Volume 3, Woe, Is Me's "Last Friday Night" in Volume 4, either Like Moths To Flames' "Some Nights" or The Word Alive's "Mercy" in Volume 5, and now this. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong! This might be the best song on the album. Is it the best for me? Not by a long shot, but people are going to love this, no doubt about it!
Kai Solyk The problem I have with the entire album was that I feel like Fearless saw all the butthurt comments about how they shouldn't call this "PUNK Goes Pop" if they're adding more metalcore/post-hardcore bands in the album so they got almost all their bands to sound more "punkish" rather than letting them do what they want. Not too happy about that, Punk Goes Pop 5 was MUCH better than this. And yeah, the CTE one was a HUGE disappointment because I was really hoping for the chorus to kick off something really cool in some sort of way. Plus I recently got into CTE too so I was hoping for the best from them since they impressed me with their second album. Oh well, I didn't really like this album at all but 2014 is still a great fucking year for music.
Did anyone else burst out laughing during the breakdown? Could sworn it sounded like the song slowed down to like 15 bpm haha! Good cover, really starting to dig these guys.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what I come to Punk Goes Pop for!!! I hate when people just cover it normally. The point is to make pop heavy. I love this!
I would love to see Beyonce and Jay-Z's reaction listening to this song. It would be cool if they would start having the real artists record themselves listening to these covers.
oceans ate alaska is one of my all time favorite bands and they totally pulled this song off. When they mix the singing and screaming it gives it a badass effect with the bass guitar
I can’t stop listening to this, It’s been several weeks and I haven’t been able to leave my house. I’m trapped in my room from how catchy they made this song :(
I feel like it should just be metal core goes pop and only metal core bands are on it. I love Knuckle Puck and State Champs but yeahhh I feel like they should make them heavy
Metalcore is a mix of hardcore and metal, hardcore is a more hm... "heavy" punk music so... :) And the name "Metalcore goes Pop" wouldn't even be catchy enough.
Kyle Kirby I don't know if it's a good idea and I guess the bands are redoing the song like they want to and I don't think that Tyler Carter would've done a heavy metalcore song by himself.
embie Well I mean they can cover it how they want to but I like it when metal bands cover songs to make it a slap in the face and make it heavy if you know what I mean
I feel like Fearless made this record sound horrible on purpose, so that people would stop asking for the next one. I remember reading an article a year ago about Fearless dropping "Punk goes Pop" entirely because they lost the vision they had from the beginning. So if they didn't try at all on this record, people would lose faith in it and not want the next one to happen.
-Oceans Ate Alaska- practically went Progressive Djent, so everyone's gonna think it's a mess, except for us Djent (Metal) lovers. It takes true love for a metalhead to find the rhythm in this @#$%, and throw the $%^& down, when it goes off live. I was DAMN surprised to hear that these guys made it to a -Fearless- Covers album!!
Best fucking song on the album/volume and the heaviest out of them all I love this band and listened to them ever since the first started they have come so far my boys are growing up so fast I love that djent type of sound they got going now
Normally I don't listen to OAA but this cover is pretty good. I know many people think it's not great or it's the greatest but it's pretty catchy. I can see that there are some parts that are a bit lacking like the breakdown should've incorporated more. One thing I did is the chorus. Not him singing but the chords. I'm not that really musically inclined to know what three chords are being played. If anyone can tell me, I would much appreciate it. :)
I like OAA really changed the sound of this song unlike most cover songs on this Punk Goes Pop which were probably just bands who didn't even change anything or very little of the original. Mad Props to Oceans Ate Alaska for the cover of Drunk In Love!!
it's a glitch, basically get a sliver of audio from the guitar track and copy and paste to your liking (and the distance, in this case it was really short and fast)
Thus was the first song I heard from them, I loved it so I listened to there other songs like blood brothers and I think this is one of my new favorite metal bands along with some metal core like underoath, and August burns red, we came as romans, and haste the day.
I picked up one of my friends who’s into gay music...I mean rap, and I turned this song on and he got all excited then all the screaming came in and he was like “oh” and I started laughing. This song is the shit!!!
This is easily the heaviest cover on the compilation!
Yo, GKE, if my band did a good cover, would you consider putting it on your channel? I love the stuff you post!
Brendan Bagwell Hell yeah buddy!
Yeah but that doesn't make it good
TYFLOL exactly what I was thinking
So was Like Moths To Flames' cover of "Some Nights" on PGP 5.... it still sucked though LOL
OH MY GOD THE WAY HE SAYS 'all night' KILLS ME. The accent man. THE ACCENT MAN

It’s funny seeing people from outside the Uk saying good things about the Birmingham accent 😂

+Alan Hoesli Lost Isles is good, but I personally enjoyed Into The Deep more
Jonah Schneider Yes Into the Deep is really good too that EP is what got me into OAA actually.
I fucking lost it when James started singing 'Grindin on that wood' 😭😂😂
This is sick. One of the only bands to actually keep their sound while covering the song.
So the other day I was with my friend. I was like ''Hey, you wanna hear a Beyoncé cover?" She was like "Alright, sure!" So I took my headphones out and put them on her head.

Well for Punk Goes Pop vol. 2 it was A Static Lullaby "Toxic".

I started laughing during the chorus. The singing kinda sucks from what I hear of it.

How they screamed "flashing lights" was so satisfying. It felt like skateboarding rock.

shame that this song has the lowest amount of veiws on the album. oceans ate alaska has come so far and I'm real proud. this cover is amazing.
This one, volumes, and august burns red were the only ones I'd actually listen to again.
Palisades was cool
August burns red had me underwhelmed
Brendon stacey I'd agree with you there
1:16 What is that rhythm? It's awesome!
Edit: Oceans Ate Alaska is now one of my favorite bands.
The first 40 seconds of this song made me so happy, but made my friend who listening turn and look at me like; Bish what did you do to Beyoncé?

This is one of thé best covers . Because when you do cover. You should Always put your twist on it and This is proper OAA style
I can’t stop listening to this, It’s been several weeks and I haven’t been able to leave my house. I’m trapped in my room from how catchy they made this song :(
This cover had so much potential ughhhh the first 30 seconds were so good.
Literally this whole volume of Punk Goes Pop is easily the best volume they've done.
This song is so damn refreshing. Old style, new song.
Absolutely love it.
I feel like OAA really pulled through on this album in terms of originality. My personal favorite on the album, well played boys!
Guilty pleasure, this is so good. So proud of these guys!

I thought PGP6 would be heavier. I was dead wrong. This is like. The only heavy song
Nikita Ember Yes it is, from the "All of the above" EP
I think Upon A Burning Body was kinda heavy too.
I can't help but get an old BMTH sound when I hear this. Fucking amazing cover. Oceans Ate Alaska killed it :D
