The woman in the mustard suit is Clydie King, she was a backup singer for a lot of major bands. She passed away in 2019. She was already well know when this came out.
Linda can do anything I've heard her sing in Spanish, Opera, rock, country, and ballads. She is one of my favorites. She still looks good but has a disease that she can't move well. I have listened to her for years. Thank you😇
One warm summer evening, out in the California desert, a lifetime ago, an old friend of mine was sitting in the kitchen of another friend's house, sipping a cold beer, when a group of young musicians dropped by to jam. They were called The Stone Ponies, and their lead singer was a very, very beautiful dark-haired girl. After a while, once everyone was well lubricated and the music was flowing like the wine, she got up on the kitchen table and began singing, wearing just a short little cotton dress that barely covered anything at all. Her name was Linda Ronstadt. My friend sat there, watching and listening to the most amazing girl he'd ever seen or heard, not ten feet from him. Years later, recounting that evening to us, his friends, he still had the biggest, silliest grin plastered on his face. We, for our part, purely turned green and died of envy ... but happily. 😉
On the Congo's is the legendary guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. He's also a weapons expert and DoD advisor. In other words, a genius. He's also played guitar with The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan. Did I mention Linda has a voice like none other? Girl next door good looks and her voice will knock you out! Total package.
Her guitarist in this video was songwriter and producer Andrew Gold who wrote and had hits with songs Lonely Boy and Thank You for Being a Friend. The latter was used as the theme song for TV show The Golden Girls.
The gorgeous backing singer in gold shaking her thang is clydie king ,she was in a backing group called the blackberries who toured with a band called humble pie (check out "black coffee" the live version) back in the 70's ,sadly she passed away in Jan 2019 😥
The woman in the mustard colored suit is Clydie King. She was an in-demand session singer who worked with the likes of BB King, The Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, Bob Dylan and Joe Walsh to name a few. She was one of the backup singers on the original studio version of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama.
Drummer is the late, great Richie Hayward of Little Feat. Conga player is actually Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, guitarist most notable as member of the first Steely Dan and later Doobie Brothers.
I have a dear friend I can't see until I'm fully vaccinated. You remind me of him, and I feel like we're hanging out when I watch your videos. Thank you for sharing yourself with the world; you make it a better place.
Loved it!! Love Linda Ronstadt and she truly could sing anything. Love your reaction too! That lady in the yellow is Candy Staton, an amazing singer in her own right.
Keep doing your thing, Syd. For those who don't get you, it's not for them. For those of us that do, keep doing your thing!! Love Linda....she really can perform in any genre. 👍👍
One of the biggest stars of the 1970s, Lida Ronstadt had a Mega Watt vocal ability, that was unmatched by any male or female singing star. She was equally an absolute Drop dead, gorgeous woman, to match her singing prowess. God was generous with Linda Ronstadt when passing out gifts.
Some earlier country tinged music, but more pop later. And she's done opera, Spanish album, sang with a "big band", etc. So talented. She highlighted and used a lot of upcoming bands, she was generous. The Eagles were her backup group at one time. cool
Please check out her hits - "Blue Bayou", "That'll be the day", "Hurt so bad", "Ooh baby baby", "It's so easy", "Just one look", "When will I be loved", & "Somewhere out there" (featured on the 1999 cartoon movie- "An American Tail"). Her duets with Aaron Neville are so beautiful. She had two chart topping hits with him -"Don't know much" and "All my life" She is still alive, but sadly she can no longer sing due to Parkinson's Disease. I've been a fan of her voice since I was a little kid (I'm almost 53 yrs old).
Linda Ronstadt was just starting to become big when I was in college. Loved her voice! I always enjoyed watching "The Midnight Special"... some great music featured on that show.
This is a fantastic performance top to bottom. Everything on point and rock solid, even if there was some serious funk going on with drums, congos, and mustard-color suits! (😉)... they were having a blast *and* sounding astoundingly good ! Linda Ronstadt was the Truth and surrounded herself with some of the best in the business.
Linda! Rock on with her bad self. They couldn't categorize her and she was always surrounded by the finest devoted talent. Grab the Microphone, let the band rip and sing your heart out.
I can't believe we had the same reaction about the Mustard suit singer coming out of pocket. My thought was you never upstage the star unless you want a bus back home, although she definitely has star quality in her own right.
As a teenager in the 70s growing up I had the biggest crush on Linda. She had the best voice. I saw her a couple times in the 70s. Linda, Pat Benatar, and Suzuka Nakamoto of Babymetal are the best front women I have seen perform. Props to her for letting the band play. I also remember the Midnight Special and it's host Wolfman Jack, about the only music show in that era that allowed live performances instead if pre-recorded music.
Ha ha you're so funny!! We came to get down today! Next time I suggest you bring your dancing shoes! I don't got time to play! Love it. Great song, great performance!
I wouldn't categorize Linda as a country act, like the guy that introduced her. This was an amazing performance by all! Linda was and still is a bad ass and a BOSS! Much Love to Linda!! Peace!!☮
For a brief time, early in her career, she was considered a Country-Pop artist. But people quickly realized that you can't categorize her since she can sing anything - country, Latin music, pop, easy listening, jazz, even opera. By the way, that dude who introduced her is Jose Feliciano. He was also a well known & highly loved musician back in the day. He was one of the most prominent Latin-born performers of the era - a Puerto Rican guitarist, singer, and composer who was born permanently blind. He found success in the late 1960s with his mix of flamenco guitar, bolero, folk, and easy listening pop music. His 1970 Christmas pop classic "Feliz Navidad" is one of the most ubiquitous songs in the holiday music genre. :-)
Yeah Linda made her way into the pop scene via country music in the late 60s/ early 70s. Checkout "Love is a Rose", "Silver Threads and Golden Needles", "Long Long Time". She's besties w Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris and made 2 country inspired albums as "the Trio".
Don't be too hang up with superficial categories. Country is just normal music + steel guitar :) Good country can be groovy, swinging, even funky, just like blues/rock/jazz can.
Some of the greatest music was heard on the show The Midnight Special !!! Maybe look into other bands and singers that were on the Midnight Special, you would have a whole encyclopedia of songs to react to :) .
Thank you so much for bringing Linda to your channel. She was one of my favorites as I was approaching adulthood in the early 70's. Amazing voice, amazing performance from her and the band!
I'm a new subscriber so I'm going through your catalog. Loved your comments here! Funny and informative about the performance, and the statement about not tolerating racism on your page made me want to applaud. Good job, DramaSyd!
Still laughing @ that analogy. Glad to see how much attention to detail you have. I noticed the SAME thing 1st time I watched also. Hi FROM NORTH CAROLINA. Enjoyed that so THANK YOU!🇺🇸🎸🎶💛👍
Love, love, love this choice. I wore out her albums when I was a teenager. Lady in the gold certainly was not worried about blending in. It kind of makes me happy, you do your thing miss thang.
Great reaction and a great song!! I could be wrong... But I think I heard somewhere that Linda Ronstadt helped the eagles write a few early songs back in the day.. or maybe they got their start in the same place or something.. 🤷🏻♂️ might be worth looking up
I love me some Linda Ronstadt. Look up the song "Long Long Time". ♥ Amazing - Which one of your channels do you do oldies on?? You've got too many channels dude 😎
It's cool to see you jamming to the music. I really like your reactions to the music, they're honest. It's your channel, you see something inappropriate you have every right to remove it. People should be more respectful and considerate, if they were, wouldn't have to worry about it
Loved your commentary - you made me laugh. And I've always wondered if the back-up singers were mother & daughter because they look similar. Linda was honored at the Kennedy Center this past December. Well, deserved. It's probably on UA-cam - several well-known singers sang her hits. Fun to watch.
Love the music of Linda Rondstat! This was a great performance, by EVERYONE in the band. (And I'm sure if blacksuit had gotten the memo, she would have been down more than she was. LOL) Great video; great song! Thanks!
Jose, describes Linda as a country artist & while she sang some country songs & is considered a pioneer of " country rock " she sang many different genres of music, this song being one of them. Thanks for the react ❤ Linda!
I was little in the 70s, & I spent a lot of time listening to the radio as I grew up. There's just so much good music from the 50s through the 80s that still stands the test of time even now in 2020. ❤ I always sing along with this song when I hear it!
She has the most amazing voice - my favorite album of hers is Simple Dreams (one of those I had to repurchase - as I wore out the first one). Midnight Special had some of the greatest performances on their show! All different genres! ... I was intrigued when she performed in Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline as the Pirate King. Thanks for the variety you bring to your channel(s)... especially the "classic stuff " ;-)
Ritchie Haywood on drums (from Little Feat), long time sideman for Linda Kenny Edwards on Bass, Sherlie Matthews/Clydie King backup vocals and CharCanuck has already mentioned Jeff "Skunk" Baxter on bongos. For me Andrew Golds scorching solo is the highlight though.
One of the best female rock/blues singers ever. Such a powerful and beautiful voice. I love all her music, from the Stone Ponies days through Blue Bayou. Thanks for reacting to this - I haven't heard it in quite a while.
I actually watched that on the "Midnight Special" hosted by Wolfman Jack. She mixed country rock & blues together. She was amazing If I remember right , I think this about her leaving her manager or producer, something like that. it's been to long to remember. Either way it was a killer song & still is. Awesome reaction as always.
When you talked about the lady in black "didn't know what to do", I've got to admit I laughed at that much harder than I should have! Thanks, I needed that today!
I had a boyfriend in the late 70's who really was ^NO GOOD.^ When I finally had enough & ended it, I used to play this song at full volume...singing along while I danced around my room. 😃
Two songs that Linda duets with Arron Neville. 1 -"all my life" and " Don't.know much" you are going to love it. Ps Im am a home fry and and a pentaholic .I love most music. MOVES MY SOUL 💖💖
With all respect due to Jose, this song isn't the slightest bit country. It's soulful and bluesy even without the wall of bongos. Love her and the day she said she could no longer sing was a dark day indeed. Guitar solo by the one and only Andrew Gold.
I didn’t look through all the comments, but did anyone else notice that was Andrew Gold on guitar and Skunk Baxter of Steely Dan on the Congo’s! He played for her for awhile.
I love Linda ronstadt. Sad that she can no longer sing. She is working on a new album using old stuff previously unreleased. She in incomparable. I will definitely buy that if it does come out. I do not call this a country song! It’s funky. I was a teen during her popularity. I love her. The world lost one of its sweetest voices when we lost hers.☹️
The woman in the mustard suit is Clydie King, she was a backup singer for a lot of major bands. She passed away in 2019. She was already well know when this came out.
Linda Ronstadt 8-track tapes were a staple of our family road trips when I was a kid. She is such a powerful singer.
I love love Linda Ronstadt!!!!! The background singers were groovin.
Linda can do anything I've heard her sing in Spanish, Opera, rock, country, and ballads. She is one of my favorites. She still looks good but has a disease that she can't move well. I have listened to her for years. Thank you😇
Linda is my favorite singer of all time! Thank you for reacting to her & for standing up against racism!

I loved your reaction. Made me LOL. Jamel AKAJamal did a reaction of the same video and was ALSO taken with the lady in yellow.
Linda is the best. Thanks for taking me down memory lane!
Thank you for playing Linda's music! She was awesome! Her voice was excellent!!!❤❤❤
Her guitarist in this video was songwriter and producer Andrew Gold who wrote and had hits with songs Lonely Boy and Thank You for Being a Friend. The latter was used as the theme song for TV show The Golden Girls.

She is pure magic, soul & power with that mic.... a voice for the ages 😇🎙
Linda Ronstadt always had the best bands backing her. And what a voice!
Drummer is the late, great Richie Hayward of Little Feat. Conga player is actually Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, guitarist most notable as member of the first Steely Dan and later Doobie Brothers.
What a doll, super doll forever!
I have a dear friend I can't see until I'm fully vaccinated. You remind me of him, and I feel like we're hanging out when I watch your videos. Thank you for sharing yourself with the world; you make it a better place.

Keep doing your thing, Syd. For those who don't get you, it's not for them. For those of us that do, keep doing your thing!! Love Linda....she really can perform in any genre. 👍👍
Greatest female singer of all time she could sing pretty much anything
More power to you. And thanks for the Linda reactions.
The late great Andrew Gold dealing out the guitar solo. I've finally convinced myself that it is indeed "Skunk" Baxter on the bongos.
I love how this song feels so free and loose but when you listen, everything is TIGHT

Everybody loves her! She is one of the greats!
" we came to get down today" Damn right!!!
Terrific, funky version of Ronstadt's hit song. Awesome.
I just love her voice. Thanks! 👍🔥
*giggles* Thank you for being you. 💙
Facts!!!!
They were feeling it , best version ever.
Linda Ronstandt is one of the greatest females singers of all time. She is the only female singer that gives me goosebumps.
Linda was/IS the bomb...what a voice! Thank you sir!
I never thought of her as country? She has a great voice and can sing anything, love her.
I love your reactions to all this great music that you're doing. You nail the commentary every time. Thank you.
As a teenager in the 70s growing up I had the biggest crush on Linda. She had the best voice. I saw her a couple times in the 70s. Linda, Pat Benatar, and Suzuka Nakamoto of Babymetal are the best front women I have seen perform.

Sending you some blessing from the Navajo Apache reservation.

Don't be too hang up with superficial categories. Country is just normal music + steel guitar :)
Good country can be groovy, swinging, even funky, just like blues/rock/jazz can.
Like always, Linda's band is spectacular! And the backup singers are awesome!
Some of the greatest music was heard on the show The Midnight Special !!! Maybe look into other bands and singers that were on the Midnight Special, you would have a whole encyclopedia of songs to react to :) .
Linda Ronstadt has another great song called ,Silver threads and golden needles
There is a version with her, the Eagles and Jackson Browne doing Silver Threads & Golden Needles!
Thank you so much for bringing Linda to your channel. She was one of my favorites as I was approaching adulthood in the early 70's. Amazing voice, amazing performance from her and the band!
I love Linda Rondstadt for me she is the greatest voices of this planet
Country? So says Jose Feliciano. Well surprise, surprise - Linda shows she is way more than country. Not knocking country in any way!
Enjoyed that so THANK YOU!🇺🇸🎸🎶💛👍
Glad you refuse to put up with the racism. Racism stems from *ignorance* alone. Love the channel, thx for the great music/reactions!
Love, love, love this choice. I wore out her albums when I was a teenager. Lady in the gold certainly was not worried about blending in. It kind of makes me happy, you do your thing miss thang.
Linda has a lot of great songs.
LOVE finally seeing a live performance of this!! So raw and amazing!!
Love your vibe! Keep on grooving! 😎
Great reaction and a great song!! I could be wrong... But I think I heard somewhere that Linda Ronstadt helped the eagles write a few early songs back in the day.. or maybe they got their start in the same place or something.. 🤷🏻♂️ might be worth looking up
The Eagles were part of her band at one time. She suggested Bernie Leadon to Glenn and Don, the rest is history.
I love me some Linda Ronstadt. Look up the song "Long Long Time". ♥ Amazing - Which one of your channels do you do oldies on?? You've got too many channels dude 😎
Giving you a gold star , you did good! Loved it.
It's cool to see you jamming to the music.

It's your channel, you see something inappropriate you have every right to remove it.
People should be more respectful and considerate, if they were, wouldn't have to worry about it
You are so fun! Great reaction!
We ain't playin' at all, Shake it, my friends!
Linda as always was awesome and I LOVED her back up singers!! The lady in gold was totally into it.
It's amazing to see, or hear, a voice that powerful come out of a body that small.
IMO her best song is Blue Bayou. You should check it out. Her voice is truly amazing!
Loved your commentary - you made me laugh. And I've always wondered if the back-up singers were mother & daughter because they look similar. Linda was honored at the Kennedy Center this past December. Well, deserved. It's probably on UA-cam - several well-known singers sang her hits. Fun to watch.

Linda could knock any song out of the park. Those Midnight Special compilations are solid gold these days.
Jose, describes Linda as a country artist & while she sang some country songs & is considered a pioneer of " country rock " she sang many different genres of music, this song being one of them. Thanks for the react ❤ Linda!
I LOVE the look on your face when you're listening to the music. Pure joy. ❤
Loved this one very much!! She’s a class act!

She is, and was so good...so freaking cute! Poor lady doesn’t enjoy good health anymore!
She has the most amazing voice - my favorite album of hers is Simple Dreams (one of those I had to repurchase - as I wore out the first one). All Star band backing Linda here. Andrew Gold on guitar , anyone know the others ? I know the faces !! Superb performance all round
Chris Stothard Andrew Gold was so underrated.
Donnie and marie osmond
It was Jeff "Skunk" Baxter on congas. A familiar face as he also played guitar with Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan.
Ritchie Haywood on drums (from Little Feat), long time sideman for Linda Kenny Edwards on Bass, Sherlie Matthews/Clydie King backup vocals and CharCanuck has already mentioned Jeff "Skunk" Baxter on bongos. For me Andrew Golds scorching solo is the highlight though.

love that description of that beautiful lady in yellow
Loved the way she sang barefoot!! Feeling the music through her toes!!
I actually watched that on the "Midnight Special" hosted by Wolfman Jack. She mixed country rock & blues together. She was amazing If I remember right , I think this about her leaving her manager or producer, something like that. it's been to long to remember. Either way it was a killer song & still is. I’m not mad over here! Just glad you’re a fan of Linda.
When you talked about the lady in black "didn't know what to do", I've got to admit I laughed at that much harder than I should have! Thanks, I needed that today!
Is that Skunk Baxter playing bongo's?
WONDERFULL !!!!!
I had a boyfriend in the late 70's who really was ^NO GOOD.^ When I finally had enough & ended it, I used to play this song at full volume...singing along while I danced around my room. 😃

WHERE IS YOUR OTHER CHANNEL?
Congo player looked a lot like Jeff Skunk Baxter of the Doobie Brothers.
He's Skunk Baxter indeed... and the late great Andrew Gold playing guitar
Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan.
I love Ya Keep Playing These!!
I'm happy to find you're channel
Amen brother. Im with u.
Too good
With all respect due to Jose, this song isn't the slightest bit country. It's soulful and bluesy even without the wall of bongos. Love her and the day she said she could no longer sing was a dark day indeed. Guitar solo by the one and only Andrew Gold.
I love your reactions! Rock On, my friend 🍑l am a huge fan. You are thoughtful and l dig that. I’m an old hippie ❤️
I love your reactions. That was in one of my eras.
I didn’t look through all the comments, but did anyone else notice that was Andrew Gold on guitar and Skunk Baxter of Steely Dan on the Congo’s! He played for her for awhile.
Thinking we need a new Midnight Special type of show for our artists today...
Hey Jose! Country? Linda is Rick n Roll!
Lol@mustard suit! Things were a lot looser n freer back then! No “memo”s. Lol
