The implication is that Shara Ishvalda was causing so much chaos in the New World that _nature itself_ summoned Nergigante to go deal with it, and when that didn't work it rapidly evolved into Ruiner Nergigante, which was strong enough to keep Shara at bay but not slay it. That's a straight-up anime plot right there -- incredible.
I always assumed Nergigante and the Jiiva line have a symbiotic relationship. The Xeno’jiiva egg attracts old Elder dragons for the bio-energy they release at death and the Nergigante kills the elder before it makes it to the egg, the egg gets the energy and the Nergi gets the meat. After hatching the Xeno’jiiva continues to call in elder dragons to add their bio energy to its pool of reserves and eventually it turns into Safi’jiiva while a Nergigante that manages to survive long enough hunting elder dragons eventually turns into Ruiner. The ruiner in this case was after Shara because it was disturbing Safi’s energy and would cause damage to the nest. Also Ruiner may not be able to kill a Black Dragon like Alatreon but he would be able to weaken it enough to the point where Safi wouldn’t have any issue finishing the job.
That's why Nergi was trying to dig in to Zorah Magdaros, his natural prey encase themselves in rock. He probably thought it was the biggest Shara Ishvalda ever.
It’s never outright stated that Nergigante only go after Shara ishvalda. So basically, there are some badass hunters, who just delve into the deepest and most unexplored parts of the world just to classify monsters and name them. I think also some characters in the story during the hunt for Velkhana make mention of going through records, journals, sightings, old stories and myths for any hint. It sounds like the Guild keeps every scrap of paper that even vaguely mentions a monster in case of future use.
Honestly, I think most hunters are this kind of hunter. Not necessarily fighters, but trackers and researchers. The Research Commision's main goal isn't hunting and killing monsters after all, but _research._ In the field, gathering info, observing, cataloging. Naming. Small animals, big animals, monsters, Elder Dragons, plants, minerals, _everything._ It's when they need to study the dangerous stuff up close, either alive or dead, or a monster is going out of control and is endangering either the mission or the ecosystem (or both) that they send in the big guns. I'd love to see Ahtal-Ka added to world, and with all they did to change and renovate new monsters, I think she could easily become one of the, if not the best, monster in the series.
The one problem though is she makes herself out of human resources and the new world doesn't have enough of that so it would be one huge continuity error ( though not as big as velkhana not flying over barricades ) so she wouldn't fit in at all

Nah he stole my fucking kill is what he did
“How do we keep finding these monsters that have pre-established names?”
Poems, stories, prophesies and ancient records of old usually have at least some mention of their names. Like Velkhana.
Tho... Gogmazios was the best one.
Yeah, but who decided on the name "Ruiner" Nergigante on the Nergigante variant? Because I don't think anyone have mentioned they found the Nergigante variant before us and name it based on what they see.
Lol I’m so pretty sure rusted kushala Daora and chaotic gore magala are also variants if I’m not mistaken
@Luke Fraczek pretty sure Crimson Fatalis is some sort of variant.
@Luke Fraczek the older part is at least true for White Fatalis, so it wasn't classified as a variant (natural growth doesn't result in variation iirc). Crimson, though, not quite sure.
@Luke Fraczek Rusted is just a normal Kushala that has gone a while without shedding it's skin, being on the verge of doing so. So yes, it's a variant.

Or have everyone just fight Nergi. Either would’ve been amazing

This Iceborne expansion has just blown me away. I’m so glad I found this game series way back on its first release on PS2.
My favorite part of their videos is them just reacting to the new monsters and freaking out about them. The reason this video is especially great is that it comes with three of these reactions.
when ruin came out of the ground to kill shara ishvalda, i think ruin said " there can be only one king of ground and that is me"
I remember him saying Ahtal-Ka would feel out of place in Monster Hunter: World in a lore video, but after fighting this, Ahtal-Ka doesn't seem so far away. I'd love to see Ahtal-Ka added to world, and with all they did to change and renovate new monsters, I think she could easily become one of the, if not the best, monster in the series.
The one problem though is she makes herself out of human resources and the new world doesn't have enough of that so it would be one huge continuity error ( though not as big as velkhana not flying over barricades ) so she wouldn't fit in at all
@@pridefulnamelesshunter1145 There totally is across both world and iceborne. There are tons of ruined ships, arena supplies, and general construction materials, and that's not even accounting for any ancient civ stuff that's probably around (they weren't limited to the Minegarde region). Though in my opinion Gog would be more likely to show up than Ahtal.
@@pridefulnamelesshunter1145 That is a really good point I hadn't thought of. I doubt we're getting her in World, but that doesn't change the fact that she would be an absolute treat to fight. I also should probably say that I mean that Ahtal-Ka and a giant mech do not seem out of place *if* she was given enough time to prepare, but like you said, it would not fit lorewise to have an Ahtal-Ka in World due to the shortage of human resources
Dodo's Bizarre adventure maybe she made a boat. How do you think all these things old monsters came to the new world?
@@theman6422 Probably most of them were already there and didn't migrate. The different monsters have been around for a long time, it makes sense that some of them would be part of the new worlds ecosystem.
