We hadn't had any rain for such a looooong time and you guys brought it with you, so the "Sunshine Coasters" thank you for breaking the drought and I hope it made you feel a little more at home Sam! :)

@@HalfdeadRider Hahaha. I love em though. Like as a casual cruiser. Would love to own an oldschool Cadillac Deville n an Impala SS some day n turn em into lowriders. Them havin 6-7 litre engines yet barely makin 250bhp is hilarious too.

I live in palmwoods and saw you driving out of it. We seriously hadn't had any rain for months that you would of seen water tankers doing deliveries to people who had run out. I drive past ricks garage every day and absolutely love seeing the cars that it draws. I saw about 20 Ferrari's on one occasion. Saw a maybach there today.
RS 4.0 for me is the greatest 911 of all time. Number 1 dream car for me. A local Porsche dealer near me has one listed for 850k. Just insanity. I'll be curious if they ever come down again. Great video Sam!
Hi Sam, thank you, very cool Porsches, fun to have a compare & contrast, especially on those mountain roads. They look awesome, albeit quite challenging in stormy weather✌Video is up there with your 2023 greats ☺
@@JOPOV camera on the inside? I thought we were talking about water drops ,and as he has the window is closed the water wouldn't be running along the glass like it is🤔
@@JOPOV of course it would! It's transparent glass,so your saying you can't see beaded water drops on the outside glass when your seated inside the car?also you can see the same thing happening on the rear window
I love Porsche and your videos are always entertaining, but why would you have the driver's window down on the 2.7 RS in the pouring rain? Killing me Sam! My OCD can't deal 😂
So it is obviously a (‘73) ‘72RS Touring (sunroof reveals) and not the Group 4 homologation version which is called usually the “lightweight” and weights about 100 kg less than the Touring version. Jerry Seinfeld drives in his coffee vide 18:15 o the lightweight version. The lightweight has aluminium doors, less sound insulation, no rear seats, glassfiber bumpers etc and is the first production Porsche to have different size front and rear wheels. Already the original aluminium doors cost honey today. The first 500 homologation cars weighted under 900 kg and the management feared that nobody would want them. Yet they were sold in the first week and another batch of 500 Touring versions were comissioned and even them got sold quickly and they made another batch of 500 Tourings. They produced altogether about 1600 RSesses which meant it could be homologated eventually to Group 3. I believe the ‘72 RS Touring version is about 500 000-750 000 euros while the lightweight is well above a million - if you can find one for sale. Jenson Button’s black car was also a Touring. I think that was the car STG drove in Monaco.
Another awesome video! Well done, just a minor comment, the numberplate on the 4.0 should read ‘der’ not ‘das’ but hey first world problems I suppose 😊.
Later, after you’ve purchased the “classic car” you’ve been banging on about, you’ll say “I briefly mentioned and hinted this car a couple of times in my previous videos”. I’ll wait for that moment.
Thanks for the test sorry for YOUR test of both of wonderful Porsches!!! RS are best versions for Stuttgart products Everyday or daily driveable cars of course they are😊 The new erea of sportcars are expectionnal on motors gearboxes and weight!!! Sorry my heart of carlover stops on 2000 years😅
Yes the 2.7RS is Incredible. Top 5 Porsche ever. As for the 4.0, lovely, but is that the one that was pranged and re skinned? Can only be 1 or 2 white ones in Oz? Sold for A$1M.
Hold it right there @seenthroughglass you can’t get away with deriding the UK’s coffee scene like that. Living in the Midlands you can get whatever milk you want at the coffee shops I go to. Just stay independent with your coffee choice. If I run into you I’ll willingly buy you a flat white, even if it means milking the local hedgehog to satisfy your tastes 😊
Theres is no better air cooled 911 than the 2.7 rs , it has soul and that mechanical sound ,, the later ones are great , fast , etc etc but lack the soul
Erm… “Not that dynamic” is not really a far comparison when mentioning a Daytona or a Countach. Go and drive a Lotus Elan Sprint which has far greater chassis technology, handling, engine performance and also looks (in my opinion on that last one) compared to a 2.7 RS or indeed any early 911. It’s not all about Porsches everybody…. Great video still as always though!
The 4.0 wasn't bored out from a 3.8 at all, please inform yourself if you're going to be a reputable motoring journalist. They used an RSR crank to increase the stroke from 76.5mm to 80.4mm, not the bore.
What a tragedy to pilot some of the greatest cars on the planet doing 40mph in torrential rain on track rubber. I seldom bother take my RS Porsche out on dry public roads as there’s no point in driving them at the speed limits we have around here. Trailer it to the track and then hammer time is all what’s it about. You have to revisit the 4-liter and do a proper drive with it Sam!
Everybody seems to be in awe of the rev line at 9k, but there are also much larger engines that get there as well: F12, 812 sf for example, Lamborghini does not sound bad either, and people seem to take those for granted. I love the touring, but don’t get the fascination with the 9k red line. For sure a GT3 would destroy an 812 on a track, but this is due to the chasis, not rev line limiter… Manual box is another story, more enjoyable to drive I suppose, but likely less performance.
Nope. The 997 GT3 RS 4L is way over blown, fun car but the 997 chassis just wasn't that good. The 4l NA thats been present in GT cars since the 991.2 GT3 was released is far better in every way. Peak Porsche realistically is the 991.2 GT3 touring and the 991.2 GT3 RS. The 992 GT3 and 992 GT3 RS really haven't added much.
Driven a 2.7 and the 997 4.0 RS, Id still have a 991.1 RS instead. The 2.7 doesnt stop, turn, change gear well....never go back further than a 964 RS ...the best. 997 overpriced and well ok but not massively better than the GT3 997....meh..

I agree, stroke of genius there.

Do people think the 2.7RS is better than the 3.0RS?
They only built around 40 3.0RS‘s, so it‘s not really a realistic comparison
