Love how you are really the only NYC transittuber that focuses on areas in the wide NYC metro area and not just NYC. Really appreciate it!!!

Wow! Thank you for covering the mainline (well, what's left of it) of my all-time railroad - the Jersey Central. I grew up in Elizabeth, and my grandfather and several of my uncles and cousins worked for the CNJ at the legendary Elizabethport yards. My father would commute from tiny Elmora station into New York City for much of his adult life. When I was a young railfain, I frequently rode the Bayonne shuttle (RIP) to Cranford and then took the train westward, usually to Raritan but sometimes further. The CNJ was once a thriving, spunky, vitally important railroad that's sadly mostly forgotten today. This clip is inspiring me to take a Saturday journey on the Raritan line again, despite me being a 63 year oldster!

Just a heads up from a daily RVL commuter: there's no weekend service beyond Raritan, so if you want to revisit the western section you'll need to do it on a weekday.

this is true -- although if you want a similar-ish ride on a weekend, the gladstone branch is great! (and also arguably home to some more interesting towns!)

Same, CNJ was one of the best railroads especially with the Blue Comet and Camelback fleet

This was a cool video! I didn't know Lebanon was one of the least used stations in the NYC Metro Area!
Also, congrats on your video being selected in Classy Whale's video contest!

New York's Charming Secret Foamer! And the fact that your voice and delivery are similar to Lara Ricote is a bonus.

There are luckily enough two surviving CNJ steam locomotives that being CNJ 113 a 0-6-0 switcher in Minersville running on R&N track alongside Reading T1 2102 and R&N ex GM&O Pacific 425 and CNJ 592 the last Atlantic camelback that even pulled the Blue Comet in the B&O Railroad Museum

You are totally dedicated to your craft by getting out so early in the morning to do your work! You should find the powers to be to make a correction on that sign that is incorrect. No sense in having a sign with misinformation on it! So on the train where you were riding alone, that's called a zen ride!

Where you got dropped off there used to be a Warren County bus that goes to abilities from Clinton. That one change at Abilities for the Warren County bus towards the southwestern part of the county where you can transfer over to the NJ Transit 890/891 bus and then Trans Bridge Lines Easton to Midtown Manhattan the next stop is Clinton
But you could have actually done also from Clinton to New York on the Trans Bridge Bus. My mother uses either Trans Bridge lines bus Clinton or Easton. Last trip from Penn Station to Clinton Annandale stop is 10:40pm on the weekdays

The Warren County bus to Clinton stopped running in 2018 due to low ridership, although you’re right that it used to run.
and yes, I could’ve taken trans bridge back, I could’ve even taken the RVL back, but as I hinted at, there was a video that I wanted to film in Warren County, and also funny transit is fun

But it says "New York's" branchline. Shouldn't it say "New Jersey"?

    • @honajtransit
      @honajtransit  Місяць тому +3

yes, but more people are gonna click on something with NY in the title than NJ

But njt serves 2 lines for NY why not just be honest lol

well, first off, the vast majority of NJT riders (at least in north jersey) are going to/from NY
secondly, i do have to think a bit about the algorithm here, and the fact of the matter is that the algorithm will push a title with "new york" in the title more than for "new jersey"

But part of it a small part is in NY, the part in Penn Station and through the Hudson River tunnel which is owned by Amtrak. The rest is in NJ. Most people who ride NJT are bound for Manhattan. THe Raritan Valley line trains branch off of Amtrak past Newark onto the ex-Lehigh Valley tracks, now Conrail Shared Assets and NJT, and then onto the ex-CNJ at Aldene. They terminate at Raritan or High Bridge. At one time, through the end of 1983 the RVL went to Phillipsburg, NJ. CNJ service to Allentown, PA ended in 1967. The ex-CNJ Bethlehem and Allentown stations are still there, Bethlehem is a bar/eating place, Allentown used to be a restaurant/bar/club but it has been closed for over several years and looks in sad shape. Ex-CNJ tracks are gone between West Easton and Bethlehem. I live just west of Allentown.

New York metropolitan region. When he says NY, he mostly means the metro region. (Northern Jersey, NYC, Hudson Valley, Southwest CT, Long Island)
