Wow! How you can not find this song and video deeply moving, I don’t know? Maybe you should only check out Madonna’s dance chart hits because it looks like the ballads and the more experimental, introspective and layered work is perhaps not for you? Also, constantly referring to stuff as ‘old’ in order to discredit it is really tired. I was a teen in the 90s and used to listen to music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s because I worked out pretty early that being ‘current’ does not equal quality or relevance.

It’s fun to Kiki and stuff but yeah... no! I get that you don’t have to like everything but this was maybe a bit too much Kiki-ing...
I think you have to be in a mood for ballads about heartbreak ..this song is from Ray Of Light :) I have to be in a mood for her ballads and then it speaks to me.
Checking out the comments & it looks like you guys are going to get read on this reaction....😂....The song is deep. It is beautiful. A thoughtful and intelligent window into “breaking up”. It is about having the strength to leave when you lovesomeone but know it is not right. Hence, the kiss and then running away. There are subtleties in the video which I love and anyone can relate to. During the chess game (a metaphor for the relationship), Madonna embraces his hand and he pulls away. If you want some Marilyn Monroe Hollywood glam fabulousness, strong vocals, and humor react to “Sooner or later” Live from the Oscars. ICONIC. But warning, it is a ballad.
You guys are so out of your depth. It's getting annoying now. Sometimes in life you you need to concentrate a bit. You just don't seem to have any kind of idea about culture and superficially just make up silly plots regarding this catalogue of songs.. sorry you are quite charming but it is a sad reflection where young people are today. Get off Instagram and read a book! Educate yourselves!
I agree 100%!! It is so sad, to watch vapid youth, disrespect this groundbreaking artists work due to lack of any musical taste or knowledge of amazingly written songs and their visuals. Sad to say the least, they need to stick to Drag Race reactions.
Love you boys, but you dropped the ball on this one. I say this as an old queen and with lots of love and gentle chiding: start reading everything you can get your hands on including religions, mythology, world history; studying the history of the AIDS pandemic; watching American movies that were filmed in the 20s, 30s, and on; listen to the greats of music starting with the great jazz and opera singers of the past and go global with your music listening; and looking up all of your gay brothers and sisters from history in every field from the sciences to the arts. Start with Susan Sontag's Essay on Camp, and branch out from there. Do as much homework as you can, and really form an opinion based on fact rather than knee-jerk reaction. You will DEEPLY enrich yourselves, and learn why we as fans are so protective of Madonna and ESPECIALLY this song as it draws almost entirely from Joan Crawford's movie, Humoresque, and the lyrics are a cross between being a jilted lover and a deep spiritual understanding she came to thanks to the birth of her daughter and Kabbalah at this time. It's hard work, but it's worth it.
I am also an old queen and, yeah, I love these two so much but...they do tend to miss the references. The problem really is that without the learning, they can't always see beyond surface.
It's not just one of my Madonna all time favourites but also one of my favourite songs ever. It was a big radio hit here in Germany when it was released and is still playing on the radio so I guess it hasn't dated at all..
Fun fact: This song is about her relationship from former Husband Sean Penn. She was finally ready to say goodbye, to move on, after VH1 had surprised her in 1995 at the Fashion & Music Awards with the Most Fashionable Artist Award. The twist was that VH1 asked Sean Penn to present her the award. When she got on stage and finally notice Sean Penn with the award, she reacted in a surprised way. She then reach for the microphone to say "That was dirty". So after Madonna was finish doing and promoting Evita, in 1997, she started writing material for the upcoming album of the time, that is Ray of light, released in March 1998. And the Power of Good-ye reflected how she was ready to move on. Her and Sean Penn since that dirty blow, have been reaching out to one another and have created a friendship. The video was about her (or a woman) who was tormented in a relationship and couldn't and/or wasn't able to say goodbye, to move on. As the story progress in the video, torn between her feelings of still being in love and running away (kissing scene), the woman decided to leave. But as she walks down the beach, you get glimpse of a body like corpse along the beach, making the viewer think that the woman decided to drown herself in the water. That her only issue was to kill herself. But by the end of the video, the woman is sitting in the sand, showing that she decided to take the other road, to stay strong, to move on and to start at new. The scene of the two playing chest is inspired by the movie The Thomas crown affaire from 1968 and the scene of her leaving the residence and walking along the beach are inspired from the movie Humoresque from 1946.
I mean this in the nicest way lol But you didn’t get it which is why you probably didn’t enjoy it as much 🤣 Ray of light is very profound. And you have to really not see it as a lot of pop music lovers of today feel about music, nowadays pop music lovers who are younger need dance and cool beats for everything. And it’s kinda rude to say just because it’s old doesn’t mean it’s bad. But maybe that’s just me.
East Kazz subjective but I mean that often times people only enjoy songs because they’re upbeat or “cool” rather than a serious ballad like this isn’t made as much nor do they usually get popular

You should react to madonna's 2016 billboard woman of the year speech...you would get to know and see a bit of madonna's life and how much she had to gone through in her life to be where she is now and her impact...you will love it!
You have got to be kidding. They would end up in a coma from confusion and boredom. ROL as a concept is just way beyond their abilities of comprehension.
As the saying goes guys, you dropped the ball on this. This is one of the most beautiful and fragile Madonna songs, with lyrics which speak of depth and personal failings. I think you've misunderstood the song completely.
No no no... what it's about... when you're in a relationship with someone and you're struggling because you want them to love you how you do...but you can't. What you CAN do is say goodbye and there's nothing they can do. That's you taking all the power.
You should react to most voted comments, not random comments. While this is a beautiful video and song, its not the kind of video to react to. And dont react to take a bow, its the same as this video not the kind of video that would be interesting to react to.
@@thevaultofvintage72 I agree its one of her best, but its not the kind of video that is good for reaction videos. Madonna has more interesting fun video that goes well with reaction videos.
You guys payed ZERO attention to the song like I totally get you didn't like the video. It's sad because it's one of her greatest songs, the lyrics are very powerful. It's a shame.
You think that Madonna is smart because she choose kiss a hot man in a Video? Omg, thats why gay culture its so superficial sometimes.... Madonna is so much than that, this lyric its so powerfull and you focus in what hot is de guy... ok.
I think it would help if you guys really payed attention to the lyrics . Just because she’s Madonna doesn’t mean it’s about sex and dicks. This song is so deep and amazing. Kinda struggled watching this reaction tbh. Also.. old and dated? I get it’s your opinion but damn
A great video for an amazing song. Guys you always go to the obvious. Gotta get a bit deeper. The scene with the sea represents a concept madonna used on her ray of light album. A kind of baptism for a new start . On her song swim she sings :"We can't carry these sins on our back.Don't want to carry anymore. We're gonna carry this train off the track. We're gonna swim to the ocean floor. Crash to the other shore. Swim to the ocean floor Let the water wash over you Wash all over you Swim to the ocean floor So that we can begin again Wash away all our sins Crash to the other shore..."
You ever been thru a Heartbreak , a Toxic Relationship ? where you Felt you were giving your all , more than the other person ? When Madonna says , FREEDOM COMES WHEN YOU LEARN TO LET GO , CREATION COMES WHEN YOU LEARN TO SAY NO , YOU WERE MY LESSON I HAD TO LEARN , THERE`S NOTHING LEFT TO TRY , this is all indicative of a Relationship that has come to an end , that no matter what you do , it cant be fix , its to time let go , its time to say Goodbye , its time to learn , grow and move on . If you are gonna try to REACT to Madonna`s Music Videos , you cant be talking non stop and expect for every video to be like Vogue MTV Awards , you need to look beyond her looks , listen to the LYRICS ! if not , then just make sure to tell us , you are ONLY reacting to her Gayest upbeat Dance Music Videos .
Madonna’s Trilogy of Death: 1993 Bad Girl: Kiss of Death/Strangled with stocking during hook up gone wrong. Taken away by her guardian angel. 1998 The Power of Good-Bye: Commits suicide by drowning in the sea. 2002 Die Another Day: Harpoon gun shot to the chest and electric chair.
@@IsmaelSilva7 1) Regarding The Power of Good-Bye: "the ending showing Madonna walking towards the sea was purposefully ambiguous. "Does Madonna drown herself in the ocean? Does she move on from her lover?" 2) Die Another Day also shows Bad Madonna dying via harpoon gun shot to the heart. The trilogy stands. No need for the f-word. It is unbecoming and makes you come across as common.
@@got2bjosh both TPOG and DAD songs are about surviving love and surviving life or the ego as a prision. Those videos reflecting triumph were always very clear to me. Sorry if I sounded rude. Guess everyone has a different take on it. Peace.
I'm absolutely loving your guys' exploration and reactions to Madonna's videos - especially now during quarantine! A think a great trifecta of videos for you two to watch in the future would be "La Isla Bonita", "Take a Bow" and "Medellín". The songs are from three different decades and all sound quite different from one another, but all beautifully showcase Madonna's love and appreciation for Latin cultures :)
You need to read the lyrics, listen to all the album, see the visuals of each era of Madonna to understand the vibes, the art, the context... It's not old, it's intemporal if you listen with all the eyes and ears
Great video! Some people say she was inspired by Alfonsina Storni s suicide as she drowned herself after writting her last poem . Did you get that she killed herself?
Juan Peralta No they didn't.... They just thought that she left her shoe there and whoever finds it, gets to fuck her. Kids today can't seem to see past that!!! That's what happens when you watch too many trashy bitches shaking their tits and arses and call it talent.
Are you guys born in 2015? LOL I mean art is subjective but these videos aren't even that old. Everything looks old to you guys my god. The video and song are beautiful! The woman is a chameleon and while changing her looks she looks f*cking beautiful and iconic unlike say Gaga who looks like a bus hit her.
Ok guys, you got bashed on this reaction and I have to say...well deserved. I enjoy your Madonna reactions, however, Dan have you ever been in a true relationship and had to say “goodbye “? Probably Not! I understand with reactions either you like or you don’t, I get it. But you can react in an informative way, to say this sounds old, or looks old, welll who looks or sounds older, you or the song, it’s you my friend. Sad! Educate yourself about the lyrics or the history before you react to the video, sorry. This a masterpiece unless you have an empty heart. Be well!
I can't believe people are still asking for reactions after this debacle. Most of our iconic, trailblazing, once a generation Queens legacy reduced to this looks old. Bet if this was Britney ballad it would have been "amazing"... over these guys
It's okay it's not you cup of tea! I personally love this song and mv but I maybe biased cause ray of light it's my fav album from her. I think you guys should giving a try to react to full albums as well. And of course I'd recomend to you listen to 'take a bow'
You guys come off as superficial and shallow in this reaction. Are you incapable of any emotional depth whatsoever, or simply unwilling to allow yourselves to let go and experience it? (Refraining from talking throughout the entire video would be a good start!) This is one of Madonna's best songs both lyrically and musically, a beautiful, profound, heart-wrenching ballad. I'd recommend watching the video again when in a different mindset, and doing so alone rather than together. Meanwhile, consider getting some background info from the song's Wikipedia or Songfacts page. Knowledge is power; there can be no knowledge without emotion. --adapted from Arnold Bennett.
Your reactions are so entertaining usually but you are watching this video taped from a TV. You can’t get the whole feel for it this way. Anyhow, please react to “ What It Feels Like for a Girl”. Your heads will explode! Awesome song and video.
You should stick to uptempo songs about partying. She was drowning herself and you were talking about her shoes... I’m not even a fan of Madonna but she has a lot of social and political commentaries in her music, also spirituality. If you are not paying attention there’s no point in reacting to her.
I wonder if there will ever be a Madonna video that they will actually understand the song and the video. Every video they're like "I don't get it", "I'm confused". Child, it is not cute.
Hey guys, I totally get how you feel. As a Madonna fan, I'm not huge into most of her ballads either...except for a few like Oh Father, which you MUST react to next. The video was SO powerful.
I wish HanD was confident enough to truly speak out when he likes something and DanD doesn’t. It seems he likes the song because he became interested in the whole Ray of Light album but didn’t expand upon it. All we got was DanD’s superficial opinion!

The Power of Good-Bye is a máster piece and my favourite song of all time.
MADONNA
Everything Madonna did after Ray of light deserves to be listened with a nice sounding pair of headphones.
I mean this in the nicest way lol
But you didn’t get it which is why you probably didn’t enjoy it as much 🤣
Ray of light is very profound. And you have to really not see it as a lot of pop music lovers of today feel about music, nowadays pop music lovers who are younger need dance and cool beats for everything.
And it’s kinda rude to say just because it’s old doesn’t mean it’s bad. But maybe that’s just me.
Cool beats? I haven't heard anything in recent pop music that remotely has a cool beat.
East Kazz subjective but I mean that often times people only enjoy songs because they’re upbeat or “cool” rather than a serious ballad like this isn’t made as much nor do they usually get popular
God, you guys are Shallow! Just stick to the Rupaul drag race stuff Please. Unsubscribed
Pay attention and listen to the meaning of words and visuals there is so much more than just the surface in this song… such a vacuous response
Future Lovers/I Feel Love-The Confessions!!! 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Woa... so superficial. This is a masterpiece.
and they think they have something to say haha
You should react to madonna's 2016 billboard woman of the year speech...you would get to know and see a bit of madonna's life and how much she had to gone through in her life to be where she is now and her impact...you will love it!
Hahahaha you say that as if they're going to actually LISTEN to her speech and not talk over it 😂
@@kazzymoviefan i know but i will just like for them to react to it and see what they think of it
@@benjamingrajales606 I'll save you the trouble. They'll say she's wearing a weird suit and that she doesn't look good.
You need to listen to the Ray of Light album to fully understand the song.
You have got to be kidding. They would end up in a coma from confusion and boredom. ROL as a concept is just way beyond their abilities of comprehension.
No...They wouldn't get it.
They'd never understand Substitute For Love.
This is truly my favorite song out of her entire catalog.....the lyrics are simple but deep and truthful .....all hail the queen of pop Madonna !!!
Of course the one on the right is not gonna like it. Its not trashy enough for him 😂
Boo! I love this song and I love that it sounds "old"
Me with another guy after the quarantine is over:
“Damn! That was deep!”
Are you insane? Take A Bow is a mini-movie and an excellent video.
Madonna is so much than that, this lyric its so powerfull and you focus in what hot is de guy... ok.
Listen to the lyrics, it’s beautiful 😍
This is an amazing song. I hated this reaction. Unsubscribing. Yes it’s that serious
This is like watching SNL skit Like the Californians 🤣
OMG the level of disrespect!
You guys are deeply superficial.
I think it would help if you guys really payed attention to the lyrics . Just because she’s Madonna doesn’t mean it’s about sex and dicks. This song is so deep and amazing. Kinda struggled watching this reaction tbh. Also.. old and dated? I get it’s your opinion but damn
I'm still sorry for you guys. This is THE SONG! So timeless and powerful. I'm happy to grow enjoying real music and art.
Swim to the ocean floor
Let the water wash over you
Wash all over you
Swim to the ocean floor
So that we can begin again
Wash away all our sins
Crash to the other shore..."
Worst reaction ever. That’s what happens when you lack neurons
I don't think she was "leaving her shoes behind for someone"...I think the character was considering doing herself in. Gurlz, pay👏attention👏
She clearly survives in the last two wtf ur talking about
Spoilerss
Peace.
been a fan since the beginning and this is one of my absolute favorite videos and songs.
This shows that your taste in music is based in rupaul , and niki Minaj, uhgg
you should stop the video while you're talking, because your reactions are becoming very trivial.
My absolute favourite Madonna track. It’s soaringly epic, cinematic almost!
@@teralmiles 🤣👌👏👏
no cause they can't keep their mouths shut and have no visual, cultural or historical references
I love the song and the video.
Be well!
This is one of my favorite songs lyrically from Madonna. Is such a beautiful song
DEEPER AND DEEPER... SECRET!
You boys MUST do these two ICONIC songs... DEEPER AND DEEPER and SECRET!
Allrigthy guys you need to react to «Future Lovers» from the Confessions tour.
Reaction to Madonna - Sooner or Later (Oscar 1991) ΙS AMAZING
They'll just say this is old..
That combo of Frozen and The Power of Goodbye was defining to me.
Your reactions are so entertaining usually but you are watching this video taped from a TV. You can’t get the whole feel for it this way. Anyhow, please react to “ What It Feels Like for a Girl”. Your heads will explode! Awesome song and video.
One of her best ballads! Beautiful song, amazing vídeo!
She "slays" into pop...and also ballads.❤️
PS you should prolly watch it again because u kept saying you didn't understand it but you had been talking the entire time lol
Such a meaningful video and song, it's so deep and the visuals are haunting and stunning. my favourite of all.
I really appreciate you guys for acknowledging Madonna’s art and work back when she used to be the shit , Kudos to you guys !
Omg did u say “old”? Dear God!!!! Bless yer heart!! 👍🔥😘😘😘😘😘😘💙z
The way y’all should’ve shut up and paid attention to the lyrics and the meaning of the video not every song is gonna be an upbeat pop song
The song is stunning, a beautiful work of art from Ray of Light.
A Madonna education would not be complete without reacting to her performance of “Sooner Or Later” at the Oscars where it was nominated for best song.
RIGHT GUYS! Calling in from LONDON, ENGLAND. Enough of the ballads. It's time to see M kick ass and watch DIE ANOTHER DAY! You'll LOVE IT!
This song is sooooo beautiful!
im done leaving commentias untill you listen to one of me ideas until you tryy my suggestionias hahahahahahahahheheheh stay danndee heeheheh you got me crackin lack lackin
You both are absolutely ridiculous. Stop snapping and pay attention. Or just stop reacting to Madonna.
Song is about loss of passionate love. She was studying Kabbalah and spirituality at the time. Ray of Life is a strong force of passion. Her only recording she won album of the year at the Grammy
She didn't win that Grammy, just nominated.
“Future Lovers” from the confessions tour next please
U keep saying old this old that.. u will get old too ok
