@@vladdx actually all brands and laptop models are having this problems as far as the video Jarrod put out. He even checked in other countries. Even Linus confirmed this in his channel. Cost cutting cannot be the reason of no MUX. It's just BS when an affordable Legion Y540 from 2019 has that, even with lowest specs. Manufacturers need to stop using cost cutting as an excuse and start putting MUX into their laptops. Only possible reason I can see why Asus decided not to include MUX is, when switched to discrete mode with MUX (laptop screen), Smartshift will no longer work. Unless you have an external monitor which directly uses dGPU, then will be fine.
@@genexis_x9040 for me no mux switch is fine, most of the time is spend in University anyways and when I want to game I have external monitor it's fine by me.
This is the only video on the last amd advantage laptops with a section covering Linux support. Thank you. Although I'm not sure about that keyboard problem 7_7
One thing I think you should've pointed is out is despite the high temps, Thermals do not throttle. It's wild. Even when my CPU was 95c, it was still running at 4.5GHZ. Even when my GPU was 80c, it was still around 2568MHZ in games. NVIDIA GPus don't do that. They lower heavily as temps raise. For example, you could lose 10% performance going from 65c to 80c in a NVIDIA graphics card. my 3080(Desktop), runs at 2040MHZ up until around 66c, then goes down to around 1980Mhz. As it rises beyond 72c, it'll hit 1925hz, and beyond 80c, it'll start going to around 1890.
Frankly I'm not sure why anyone games on their laptop screen anyway. At least enough for it to matter. When I'm at home I'm on two external monitors and I turn off the laptop monitor. If I'm taking the laptop with me somewhere, it's usually to hang out with someone else who either doesn't game, or who also has an external monitor if we do. Only time I'd ever play games by myself on this laptop screen is maybe if I'm in a hotel somewhere on business and want to unwind, and in that limited context I'm certainly not going to care about the response time of my laptop screen.
My brother just returned his today because of the 6800m going bad. Seems like it had to do with a bad Vbios update, the update kept failing and when I reported it to Asus I found that they have removed the Hotfix 7.0.0. For the 6800m Vbios from the Myasus program and the driver page of their website.
@@adamaref9047 I reset it already but my return window ends july 1st. Was going to return earlier but the bestbuy place closed. It seemed like a good deal though open box. I enjoy the boot sound very much. As a matter of fact, Apple brought their startup chime back last year after they removed it in 2016. Windows 11 also has a startup sound, which plays just before the login screen appears. So, safe to say, a whole lot of people love than hate it!!
BTW in Armory Crate manual when you overclock, if you push the CPU to the max I think you are reducing GPU wattage. To maximize GPU performance you want to reduce CPU watts to about 45 I think leaving 145 watts for GPU. This is how I understand the settings.
Great review as usual. When doing these reviews you should include if doing surround sound passthrough is possible when using the HDMI cable. I got this laptop and found out it was not possible and it was so infuriating. There is absolutely no way to find this out before buying the thing. My old MSI with core i7 8th gen and GTX1060 has no issues with Fusion 360. And I'm noticing that it can randomly restart itself e.g. when woken up from sleep, all my apps and windows disappeared.
I always turn sleep off anyway....I am either running my pc fully or turning it off, which I really only do on my laptops when taking somewhere, I keep my desktop on 24/7 except for upgrades...I had the same problem with another pc and turning off the sleep mode fixed it but I believe the real problem is in a driver or the programming code....might help to run a good windows optimizer on it that fixes windows problems

Got the ASUS Strix G15 Advantage Edition and wanted to move two 2tb SSDs into it. Unfortunately the one of slots doesn't support 2 sided SSD's because the is metal thing that blocks installation if there is memory on other side of SSD. The most bad thing that it is metal so requires to be careful in order not short circuit the SSD. Second I don't see why ASUS done this, because metal thing could be replaced with isolation cover for wifi wires. In any case not good design solution. Everything else is great.
Ordered this in the US from Best Buy. No backpack, no external camera, no mouse. Just the two caps. The box is the same, so it had a left hand side portion where you open it up and there's just... nothing.
I wait for Lenovo with 5900 and RX 6800M, that will have MUX switch and probably bigger TDP for the CPU and GPU to chug it out, hopefully it also has fast memory.
6:47 Liquid metal does what it does, regardless of brand of GPU you apply it to. Its a thermal interface material just the same as thermal paste, It just transfers More heat to the heatsink than the lower cost paste does. Considering both AMD and Nvidia gpu's get up to around about the exact Same temps (if not occasionally AMD being a tiny bit toastier...) , when under full load (synthetic test or not) Liquid metal would perform the same with either brand. MY understanding as to why they choose to use liquid metal with AMD and not Nvidia, is that this is the newer model and the next Nvidia machine will have liquid metal too, provided it too is a top level laptop. Lower spec (TDP or otherwise) gpu's wouldnt really benefit as much from liquid metal due to less heat output.. this would wind up being extra cost for the factory making them. Even if that is only like $2 Per machine... Im sure you knew this, but the way you said it comes off as if liquid metal performs better Just because its "AMD". and that it didnt perform as well when tested on nvidia gpu's. Obviously we know that is not how a thermal interface material works. It is not sentient, It cant play favorites based on brand lol.

Unfortunately, the screen and the lack of webcam are the main letdowns of this laptop. Perhaps another business decision to have room for improvement for next gen model?
I don't need the webcam and in regards to privacy I think I even prefer it that way. And you should just use an external monitor for the best experience anyways... so I don't care how good the screen is.
@@Mojo_DK Well good for you. But your personal preferences shouldn't be excuses for this product to be much better than it can be.
@2BuckGeo you paid for full performance. Without MUX you're not getting full performance.

I'm looking for what msi will do with the all and setup.
Doesn't throttle, would that affect longevity of the laptop
Oof, Jarrod dropping the "I'm looking at you" bomb 🥵
shame on MSI
Frankly I'm not sure why anyone games on their laptop screen anyway. At least enough for it to matter. When I'm at home I'm on two external monitors and I turn off the laptop monitor. If I'm taking the laptop with me somewhere, it's usually to hang out with someone else who either doesn't game, or who also has an external monitor if we do. Only time I'd ever play games by myself on this laptop screen is maybe if I'm in a hotel somewhere on business and want to unwind, and in that limited context I'm certainly not going to care about the response time of my laptop screen.

There's a ton of Best Buy reviews saying that the GPU died within a few days. Have you heard anything about that or run into any issues?
My brother just returned his today because of the 6800m going bad.
