24:16 “Ewww, it sounds like an aardvark being squashed to death by a truck!” 😂😂😂 Best description of a nylon-string I’ve ever heard in my life, Dave! 😂
Had a classical for over 30 years then lent it to a friend and never saw it again. Was great for writing songs on as you had to focus on the song and not get distracted by the urge to solo away lol. Also it had a warmth of sound - made in Spain and not a cheap one - that I would be able to write bass lines for my bass player (he still needs me to print out the chords decades later lol) that he would then play in his usual mad style (which I loved and still do). I guess all I'm saying is, I miss the simplicity of that lovely old guitar. Just pick it up and play it gently late at night to write a song that would eventually be a cacophony of noisy drums, bass and guitars as soon as we started rehearsing it. Had to string one up for a friend a few months back and Dave's right... it takes about a week for the strings to really settle in tune perfectly. Mine didn't have a truss rod as was trad Spanish, but was a joy to play. Ah memories and all that shit :)
Nice job Dave as usual. For the uninitiated its never a bad idea to put a piece of cardboard or heavy paper down just below the bridge. If your knot doesn't hold tension, and suddenly comes apart you'll get a nasty string slap scar. Ounce of prevention sorta thing.😅
I see I'm not the only one to use "Thread Lock" on my guitar jacks nuts. I use a toothpick to put a drop. In a pinch, you may use a drop of white glue or wood glue to keep the nut tight. You only need a drop, not a lot. You want to be able to remove the nut if need be.
I have a guitar sitting on my dining room table being ignored. Yup, it’s like knitting. When I get around to stringing that ignored guitar I’ll reference your earlier video. 😉
The tool you used on the sharp fret ends which appears at about 9:50 what is it called and where can I buy one???? Between myself and my son I am trying to take care of about 20 guitars. Thanks from a very old guitar player in BC. CHeers. ~ulrich
Ive never had a nylon string guitar in 55 years of guitar playing. i have no clue how to even deal with them. interesting video. i stick to steel strrings
Fret Ends February. A nice Martin came through the shop recently, dehumidified damage and a caved in top. Books stacked on the gig bag? Squished in a closet? Junior going for a ride? Gentlemen, guard your gonads and your acoustics from undue inflictions of horror inducing both sudden and extended pressures.
Originally there were two separate celebrations of two presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Presidents Day is a combined celebration of the birthdays of these same men.
I am surprised to see a classical guitar even even had a truss rod. I was led to believe they tended not to be built with them. “don’t put steel strings on them, because there is no trust rod“ what’s the word of the day. I guess that might be a good one.
I remember Helix, they had the “metal” version of knocking on heavens door, before Guns n Roses did. Unfortunately both bands weren’t “metal” enough for me.
No self respecting classical guitarist would ever plug in instead of using a good mic. The hardware alone messes with toan. That side of the world of guitars is super particular about every aspect of this instrument. It's crazy. Look up Hermann Hauser models.
Neil Young uses a mic on his acoustic guitars last time I checked. I never liked it when the late Jimmy Buffet played acoustic guitar because of piezo twang.
USA....George Washingtons Birthday OOPS....NO! I made a mistake! George Washington's birthday is in two days from today----> Feb 22nd. Lincolns Birthday was on the 12th, (last week actually!) of February ! I was a kid when they decided to delete BOTH birthdays and create the MEANINGLESS: "presidents day". I remember all the adults in my family bring angry and upset about the whole thing.
I've been playing classical guitar for a living for 45 years and can tell you that your string tying method at the bridge is overkill. Tying/overlapping each string to the adjacent one is also extremely irritating to deal with should you need to change a single broken string in a hurry for any reason, it means you have to address the ties of two maybe three strings instead of just one to get the job done. Provided you attach strings correctly in the traditional tie to an undamaged string-block, such overlapping serves no useful purpose beyond looking pretty.
I recently purchased a fender aerodyne and it arrived with a wood crack between the neck and neck pick up. The guitar just got discontinued and won’t be restocked/is out of stock now and fender confirmed no more will be shipped to stores. Would it be worth keeping if I like the guitar? I got a partial discount total price down to 570 which is less than used which is 800-1000. Ñwould it be fine to keep the aerodyne Strat? Idk if I can but I uploaded a few pics of the crack
I love the field of view, and the depth of field, on the new camera.
Nice to see a Canadian guitar on a Canadian holiday! Beautiful sound!
Wow, that fretboard was dry!
Nice job. Glad I don’t have to go through that bs when I change strings on my bass guitar.

Good to see a reminder about putting on classical strings. I’ve only done it once, I got rid of the guitar…
My condolences Mr. Dave. I attended a Helix show in I believe 1985. It was a great show. Diamond/Helix Rocks 🎸🤘
Dave, your videos are very Entertaining , Keep Then Coming, Cousin Figel
More to come!
It's all about the optics. Finally, the propper use of the word 'optics'.
But not the proper spelling of proper eh?
Been watching your vids for years because of you I havent gootched anything too bad

Just turned 63, hear you about the hands. Good job!
Gold job Dave!
Great sounding guitar.
I saw Helix open for Triumph in St. John's NL 1985. It was a great show. When u tuned to lager, ale and pilsner 🤣🤣🤣...R I P Fritz❤
Good job Dave. I used to have a nylon classical guiter, and I struggled with changing strings.
I really like the finish on that guitar. I play my classic(al) all the time.
I think things look good with the new camera.
Bien jouée Dave
The clarity sure seems better with the new camera.

I’ve thought about buying one of those for use as an old school Folk Guitar!😎

Dave, I used a 1/4 dowel rod for that. It works ok for me…
Classic
Good job Dave?😊
I've had 3 classical guitars, and only one (from Cordoba) had a truss rod.
Hostie, tabarnac mon frere!
Linseed oil catches fire, if kept/thrown out in a plastic bag. If no air comes to it, it will burn.
I wish I could say never mind... LOL
Originally there were two separate celebrations of two presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Presidents Day is a combined celebration of the birthdays of these same men.
Tabernac
Le Plume
Is there a reason why classical guitar strings aren't made with ball ends nowadays?
Happy Presidents Day...never mind. 😂

Dave, you need a good Taylor to work on!
😂 Finger tight. Lmao.
That’s how you tie on a fish hook…
We have renamed Presidents’ Day in the U.S. to War Criminals day. Nuff said!
I remember Helix, they had the “metal” version of knocking on heavens door, before Guns n Roses did. Unfortunately both bands weren’t “metal” enough for me.
Sacre bleu? i thouht i was the only Quebecker who still said sacre bleu.
Wee wee poo poo. The only French I know 😂. I saw Helix at Chicago fest. Had the 45 single

Was Fritz jabbed up?
He was if he was smart…

And Lincoln's celebrated, too.
I would concider suing the the company that sold you this guitar after going through all of that.
I wonder why they can't move into the 21st century and put ball ends on those strings. There must be a way.
Drummers seem to have a lower life expectancy , except for the beatle one...
Anyone who played for spinal tap
Nice job on the repair Dave but your French on the other hand is atrocious.
