Mojang could've just repurposed the textures of the xp orbs for the fireflies. I mean, they didn't need to completely remove them...
They removed the fireflies cause they found out that they were poisonous to frogs and they didn't want that

Mojang didn't add the fireflies because they are poisonous for some frogs. So they would have no meaning.
Make a mutated walrus. It would spawn in ice biomes, swim like a dolphin and attack you.

fireflies were removed due to them actually being poisonous to frogs (they were added as a food item for the them)

I have a few ideas first the puppet from fnaf that random music box’s will spawn in the world and you have to spam right click looking at it to rewind the box and the puppet as an enderman will spawn, then moon knight as a player and when night time comes he goes into his suit and can throw moon shaped Boomerangs and can jump high and do a land attack as when he lands on the floor next to you it will damage you.

i think if you were to add more to the demogorgon then you should make its mouth closed when not mad but open when mad
Hog rider, spawns in villages and on Lechonk, attacks enemies of the village like zombies, pillagers, and players with very low reputation. Also attacks when provoked. Should make Lechonk fast while on and jump two blocks high. Should shout HOG RIDAAA when aggroed onto an enemy
The seagulls should have started off flying around like a normal flying mob but if you held wheat or bread in your hands they would swoop down to attack you like a phantom does but explodes when they get to you

here's a missed opportunity with the demigorgan: you should have made it so it normally has it's mouth closed but when you look it in the eye it has it's mouth open (because the mob was based off an enderman)

Apparently they didn't add fire flys in to the game because they are poisonous to frogs, but it's minecraft so just make them not poisonous like they added creepers, zombies, wardens, etc. COME ON MOJANG!

Mob Idea: The alchemist has potions and can shoot blue fireballs that do 8 hearts of damage and also applies the wither effect for 5 seconds. Health: 35 HP. Drops: the alchemists bow that if you have a splash potion in your inventory then it shoots out that splash potion. It appears in the ancient cities and can be summoned by dropping a splash potion in the 'portal' (the middle structure thing) and has the model of a player but looks like a withered villager (a villager but with purple eyes and a black outfit and also a green hat like a witches) and that's it.

nice. but, i think you should have made the demogorgon be a remake of the warden instead of the enderman since the demogorgon is blind and uses sound to find its prey, just like the warden.
