Reset Oil Maintenance Light - 2010 to 2011 Honda Accord

You have to change the oil, not just put oil in it. The oil filter is important, too. Literally the number 1 thing that you can do which will make sure the engine lasts a long time.

How do you set the miles of the interval

They are preset most the time. Some cars allow you to cycle through a preset intervals. But I think for this car, there is only 1 set mileage interval.

I have driven 3k and I put ow 20 synthetic and it’s asking for an interval. I thought it was at least 5 k

@@EdgarOchoaPalma The maintenance light is just a reminder to do an oil change. If you don't want to go by the light, just mark down the date of and mileage of your oil change so you know when to do the next when. So you want 5000 miles, that's up to you. I would recommend doing it at 4000 miles though, depending on weather, and how you drive the car.

It will reset to the correct amount or back to 100 even if it's low

The oil maintenance light is only a set interval based on the manufacturers recommendation for how many miles you should drive before having an oil change. It does not tell you how much oil you have left in your car. After each reset it will go back to 0 and start counting how many miles you drive.

Because that little decal to the left is just the indicator that tells you it’s the trip knob, it’s not a light, but surely that’s not what you’re talking about, right?

Anyone know how many miles the total is? With new synthetics going over 10k now if that is set at 3k mi then it’s not accurate.

I think it’s 4-5k, I also wouldn’t run oil for 10k no matter what they say on the bottle. Oil breaks down, gets overheated, gets contaminated. What about the oil filter, you think it’s lasting 10k in there?

Hey i noticed that when you turned on the car, the sysmbol for the oil pop up on the dashboard.ine has the same thing everytime i turn on my car, does that mean that i need an oil change or that the oil is low. Or is it normal for that symbol to pop up?

Flamingo6190 The light will always light up, as well as all the other lights on the dash, when you put the key in the "Key On" position. Only with the engine running and that light is on, is when you have a problem; it usually means low oil.

+Trong Tech It doesn't mean low oil, it means low oil pressure which is 100 times worse than just low oil. It means stop the car immediately or you'll have catastrophic engine failure with permanent damage.

@YasssStitchLow oil pressure could be a symptom of having less oil in the system. A low oil level will trigger the low oil pressure indicator which is usually catastrophic.
