Most Fish, Most Species Challenge while Hunting for Monkeyface Eels

  • First time I've been out fishing in a while and to make it a bit more interesting we decided to do a challenge. Most fish, and most species by the end of the day wins. We were most likely going to catch perch, rockfish, cabezon, kelp greenling and possibly a lingcod.
    Once the tide dropped, we were able to find our way to the tide pools and I poke polled for Monkey Face Prickle Back Eels, but did not have much luck. Luckily, when there's one big low tide, there will be another one the next day. I came out again the following day by myself and caught a BIG eel and cooked and ate it back on shore just as the sun was setting. Video coming soon!

    I'm 16. I live in Torrance in Los Angeles county. I'm lucky enough to be right in the middle of the Long Beach, the cliffs of Palos verdes, and redondo beach areas. I usually fish freshwater. But your videos are helping me become a more proficient saltwater angler. Thank you!

    also one little tip if you are going to use shrimp, when you cut the pieces after removing the shell, pour alot of slat on it and leave it for 10 mins atleast. that will harden the shrim meat and drain the excess water from it. it will help to keep the shrimp on hook much much better. i just cant do shrimp without salt.

    • @FishermansLife
      @FishermansLife  7 років тому

      Thanks man. I've never tried that or even heard of it! I'll bring some salt next time and try to harden them up a little. Would be interesting to try the salted shrimp with the raw stuff, thanks for the idea brother

    Fisherman's Life.How do I get to Pigeon Point Hostel from your airport without a car on the cheap. Thanks for the wonderful videos. I've seen them all

    • @FishermansLife
      @FishermansLife  7 років тому

      shoot, probably hitch hike lol. That would be the cheapest. Other than that maybe you could barter for a ride some how because an uber would cost like $100 and no public transportation goes out there. You could take public transportation to halfmoon bay and then rent a bicycle and bike 40 miles or start looking for rides from half moon bay. That's probably the closest little town north of pigeon point hostel

    You really have luck poke poling Pigeon Point on a minus tide? Went out there yesterday and none of the holes that were deep enough to hold fish were producing. I figure Bean Hollow might be better for poke poling but what do you think?

      I've fished up north by bodega bay but not dillon beach. There are a couple kayak in campsites I want to try and fish while I'm at it, but i don't have much of a report for that area. There are lots of rocky coast line up that way for rockfish, lings etc. Just gotta be careful for the marine protected areas
