That is indeed the Reno! She was in built in 1872 by Baldwin Locomotive Works and was the Virginia and Truckee Railroad's first dedicated passenger service locomotive. The model is based on her appearance after she was converted into an oil burner in 1907. The V&T sold her to MGM, where she became a movie star. Eventually she ended up at the Old Tucson Studios for decades before being bought and returned home to Virginia City in 2021. This mod makes me HAVE to get the game now!
That train is super special here in tucson, az. It sat at old tucson for several decades, was burnt during the fire and now shes back in Reno Nevada (on display iirc) gettin ready for a complete restoration. The reno was a movie engine as far back as the turn of the century iirc so she is a popular lady
Having recently seen pictures of “The General” and “The Texas”, seeing Inyo and Reno, they are the same wheel arrangement but are really a quantum leap apart in size and appearance… the former feel like tea kettles on wheels, and the latter feels very refined. Like the difference between a 737-200 “Jurassic” and a 737-800 (if you know anything about airliners or just do a quick google of the numbers… you will see what I mean) or the leap from the P-40 to the P-51D… or better, the P-51A to the P-51D. It’s hard to describe… Apparently they still had 4-4-0s working on the GB&W when my grandpa was a gandy dancer for them in his late teens from 1942 to 1944 during the war.
I found that the Bryson industry mod is fantastic if you are running a single player game and you don’t want huge piece of railroad to deal with. It adds a ton of industry’s that need a total of like 50 cars when they are all at tier 5.
As far as other mods go, the F7s are fantastic workhorses and look great (from the outside, for the love of all thats holy do not look inside the ventilation mesh lol), glad to hear more improvements are on the way! There's also a handful of useful ui focused mods like Map Enhancer and Passengers UI, which have made management a lot easier for someone who mainly plays solo. Map Enhancer is similar to a Train Sim 20XX/Classic/whatever they call it now map layout with control over switches and cars being marked and color-coded like hitting Tab. Passengers UI on the other hand just saves you a couple clicks when you want info on train capacity and passenger destinations. Both I've found to be super handy while jumping around the map to deal with jobs.
Well all thats needed now are some Kimball coaches and some Wells, French & Co freight equipment and you could run the Western North Carolina Railroad (original name of the line RAILROADER models), circa 1880......
A fun fact I learned about the V&T is that their #18 "Dayton" lead a UP train with those weird early steam turbine engines. I have photos of the train but its really neat to see such a small 4-4-0 leading a mainline passenger train. I also have photos of #18 with a UP CSA Challenger and with UP 844
I've installed many mods, mostly whistle mods, but also have experienced some of the trackwork mods. The big trackwork mod I installed was the 6-7 mile long tunnel under Red Marble, and I think that'd be a pretty fun one to run for giggles

Hey hyce check out the b&o #25 the William Mason. I live near Baltimore and she is a beautiful locomotive and was the oldest operated steam locomotive in the US before its retirement in like 2014 or 2017 or something like that. It was also a pretty big movie star as well in Wild Wild West.
Also your golden spike 119 video reassured me that I’m driving the 4-4-0 Omaha correctly in TS classic. I’m 15 so I’ve got a ways to go before I can work on a railroad but I guess I’m prepared.
Love the mod, love the model, but she just doesn't look right to me without a Russian iron (iron oxide red) boiler and a balloon stack. Think Central Pacific's Jupiter. Do you know if she'll be restored to steam, or to steam-outline like she was before? EDIT: I'm currently running a couple mods. Passenger UI, Better Whistles, Locomotive Cab Nicknames. I'm currently waiting on the Parlor Car and Other Passenger Car Upgrades mod to be fixed, as it's been an essential part of my road.

My little 4-4-0 runs out of Dillsboro, and helps with the Dillsboro and Silva switching when the big freight locomotives aren't on that end of the railroad. The AI does NOT handle it well, at least unless they updated it, it's super, super slippy, and the AI has no clue how to deal with that. I wish the AI would pull the throttle back and catch it's slip.
I'm really anticipating the day a 4-8-X gets added to the game. I'm really enjoying the early Pacifics, but I'd definitely just have a whole fleet of Northerns if I could.

Hey hyce I'm a huge fan. In the future I am going to build a miniature railway 7 1/4 gauge. I have a question have you ever been to cass scenic railroad in WV and the age of steam roundhouse museum in Suger Creek Ohio?
Ok. I'm sure this will shock people but I had no idea this level of detail was possible. So I'm going to have to look into the various rail games (?). Anyone care to suggest a good starting out option for a newbie?
Mod I like is "Route Manager" and it can only be found on GitHub as far as I'm aware. It automates passenger service, and does so better than the current version in game because when the train gets to the end, it "resets itself" and runs the route backwards the other way allowing you to be completely hands free on the passenger service until a train needs more fuel or water. Also has options to let you ferry passengers to other stops like a connecting service, so you can pick up passengers for Alarka and Cochran(?) from Bryson and everywhere east and dump them off at Alarka Junction for a local to grab them from there and run them up the branch (as well as grabbing everyone on the branch that wants to go elsewhere and dumping them off at the junction to be picked up by the main line service. Future update "might" have auto throwing the switches ahead to make sure the train gets to where it's supposed to go and doesn't get stuck behind a switch at say, Wilmot, putting it into the house track... The more interest the mod author gets, the more likely they'll work on the mod.
6:39 btw just to let you know Hyce since you’re chief guy of century of steam could you add 491 346 and all the cute doot trains from the d&rg railroad into century of steam cuz those are my favourite type of steam trains I am definitely looking forward to century of steam
It would have been/could be awesome to have weathering in this game, especially if it was customizable in severity. This engine would have been absolutely clapped by this time, so it could have been rad to start out with this engine all dirty and clapped out so it moreso matched what it might have looked like had this engine existed at this time. That would be neato.
The engine is beautiful but if u set it to ai the wheel slip can cause some problems. Also if youre interested MVR log cars is a really good mod. Makes servicing tier 5 whittier so much easier
The actual color varies enormously. Sometimes it's grey, sometimes it's bluish, sometimes it's greenish. There was enough variation in the process of making Russia Iron that no two batches would be exactly the same color.
