Charles Barkley/Inside Guys promoting hockey better than the NHL, as usual 🧡
It's simply disgusting that Bettman doesn't promote the NHL in the states at all. I know he has a radio show where people can ask questions. Does anyone bring this up to him ever?
@@mr.brenman2132 NHL lost the younger fan base when they left ESPN IMO years ago then seemed to not promote.
Rarely seen interview when he gets asked hard questions.
@@tacotom3492 I'm not a fan of ESPN but they do promote way better then NBC. I remember when the league essentially relaunched in 05-06 there were tons of NHL commercials. Now there is essentially none. You have to promote the stars.
NHL announcers at 2am in quadruple OT "check out the new spin on hockey, Roblox blast"
Shame that ESPN has these NHL games yet they refuses to talk about it
I love this, finally promoting a NHL superstar properly, thank you TNT.
THE GREATEST way to promote the NHL, anywhere!!!
TNT has the Cup Final this year. Hence they are promoting it. (Yes, cup final is CABLE ONLY, haven’t had major North American sports championship crowned on cable tv only in long time)
I’ve been saying this for years. Leafs should have drafted matty instead of Austin. Just the heart along is worth it
@@Chakdefatte194 no one was saying that everyone countedhim out on the Calgary trade
@@Chakdefatte194
Vancouver had their chance, too.
Inside the NBA doing more for NHL exposure for the NHL themselves. Tkachuk is becoming an ever popular name. Wonderful interview!
TNT has the Cup Final this year. Hence they are promoting it. (Yes, cup final is CABLE ONLY, haven’t had major North American sports championship crowned on cable tv only in long time)
Yeah but I think they brought him in cause South florida is killing it in sports this year
And doing more for exposure than espn by a mile.
Lol
When Shaq got up and did a skate move 😂
The way he got up I thought that hip was really bothering him. Then he explained.. I died.
Reminds me of Cedric the Entertainer doing his hockey bit.
@@scowlistic lol only real ones get this reference 👏
That was so cool they brought Tkachuk to the NBA crew for a chit-chat. I’m a hockey and basketball fan myself. I feel like they need to do this more often! 👍🏼
Good on them promoting NHL. It’s literally a true sport in which it requires skills at everything to be a top talent
TBS/TNT taking over the broadcasting rights from NBC was the best thing possible for the NHL down in the states.
The fact that you felt the need to call hockey a "true sport" is exactly why it isn't as popular as other sports.....
@@SwaggerIsAVirtue Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world and it has the worst problems interms of diving or faking injuries. Your point is moot
@@ResistTheGreatReset1984most of the broadcasting team are the guys from nbc so it’s no surprise they’re doing an amazing job. i wish they had complete coverage because espn is brutal
Hockey isnt as popular as something like soccer becuase its harder to get into. Way more equipment and access needed than other sports.
Although we know that TNT has Hockey, I'm very pleased that this is happening. The Tkachuk family is very impressive.
Tnt W
Well his brother stinks but sure
Im loving these NBA/NHL crossovers. I loved the fact that Chuck was shouting out the NHL and Edmonton. This is awesome.
Tkachuk has been incredible this playoffs, like Jokic.
considering he's capable of making good players around him into great players
it is exactly like it is with Jokic
I’ll give him a way better Jimmy Butler. It’s hard to compare Jokic to anybody.
@@imsofly750 Tkachuk has 3 OT goals, almost 4. That's as clutch as clutch gets. He's on Jokic's level of clutch.
His heroics haven’t been a surprise considering he scored the Memorial Cup winning goal for the London Knights!
@@rebeltvr6046 Okay buddy
I remember when Patrick Kane was the face of the league back when the Hawks were winning cups, now I feel like the media has found their new favorite Matthew Tkachuk. He’s him. He deserves to be advertised like this. Might become the future face of the league if he keeps this up.
Matthew is also more naturally charasmatic than Patrick Kane ever was (his cues on when to jump in in this interview and hilarious quips were perfectly timed). If only the Panthers actually played in Miami instead of 45 minutes up the road in Fort Lauderdale I think it would make things that much better lol
Curious as to why there is a need for a "face" for hockey. Sport stands on its own "face". Player come and go. The game stays the same.
@@thomascomeau9545 It's the entertainment business. A lot of the NBA's popularity comes from the off court drama (like which NBA player is dating which Kardashian, etc.). You need to sell your product in order to engage new and casual fans and the personalities and storylines of the teams and athletes are a big selling point at drawing people in and enticing people to watch the game.
USA hockey is in tremendous hands with the Tkachuks/Hughes bros/Matthews/Robertson/ & Tage Thompson
@@RL-rx3iu sleeper to add to that soon: Spencer Knight.
As an Oilers fan, I don't need to write why I did not like him on his previous team. Now that he is on a different team, it is easier to cheer for Matthew. The league needs players like him to help grow the game. Not only is he elite, Matthew is not shy to share his personality.
You could've drafted him but didn't
@@leonzaduncan2438 I doubt Zachary Bear was calling the shots for the Oilers that year.
@@leonzaduncan2438 Yep, dumb move. As soon as I saw Puljujarvi’s highlights I knew we were gonna pick the wrong player. Peter Chiarelli was a complete joke of a GM.
@@leonzaduncan2438 yea because that guy was an nhl gm
@@leonzaduncan2438 He was/is an absolute Cancer, this recent playoff streak aside...Consider what he screamed at Nosek during a game. The OIilers absolutely erased him in the playoffs last year. He got dominated so badly he begged for a trade and jumped on the first train out of Cowtown.......thanks, but no thanks. Glad they did NOT take him.
Panthers have been playing what I call free hockey, their playing unafraid of making mistakes, the goalies confidence spreads like a virus, infecting the players, letting them play without worrying about giving up plays, because they feel the goalie will handle whatever comes his way and he has, their having fun. The Panthers are like the perfect storm of hockey right now.
"Perfect Storm." I see what you did there to troll the Hurricanes.
It is very hard for me to picture Dallas or Vegas beating them. Not to say it can’t happen.
Matthew is 6'2 200lbs + and looks like a kid next to Shaq..lol
Matthew Tkachuk’s OT winner against the Predators when he one-timed it between his legs is one of my favorite goals. Great improvisation
Not surprised at all Barkley and TNT treat hockey with more respect then anybody not paid by ESPN specifically to cover hockey, and even then...
Love that Chuck loves hockey! Canada loves Chuck!
I love Chuck!
@@seffishestopal5950 We all love Chuck! Up with Chuck!
TNT has the best broadcasts. This was a cool move
"Home ice advantage!" - Shaq
I don't watch hockey so I thought Shaq had a very clever idea. Shaq continued to be hilarious when he said he loved the fighting in hockey and wanted Matt to shout him out in his next fight. 😂😂😂
Thank you TNT for showcasing NHL much better than the rest of the broadcast channels. Great stuff guys and gals
they NEED to get Barkley to join the TNT hockey crew on his off nights. He probably has good insights. Basketball is 5 on 5 game played for about the same length, they both play 82 games at the same time of year and need 16 wins in the playoffs over 4 rounds to win it all and a lot of times play in the same arenas. Def the most similarities of all the 5 major team sports.
Both sports have a goal with netting
@@alex_angri true too. Both games require playing like a team ( for the most part) to put an object in a goal with netting. Something a basketball player can relate to in talking hockey.
Him and Tatum putting on for St. Louis 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Coming from a Rangers fan but more importantly a fan of hockey itself, this is great to see. Tkachuk is a phenomenal player in every aspect of the game, glad to see him get the recognition he deserves. Props to TNT for having a great broadcast all season long and doing a great job of marketing star players as seen here. These guys are so incredibly talented and deserve more credit.
Really happy he could stop by the set! Great gesture from a great player.
Having played organized football, basketball, and baseball in highs school and then learning to play hockey and joining a rec league as an adult, hockey by far is my favorite sport to play. Too bad the barrier to entry is so high, otherwise I think it would be more popular.
I wish I could play again or just skate on ice with a stick puck and net. So much fun
Yep. Very expensive to play.
Barkley needs to take Shaq to a finals game.
Shaq reminded me of a grandma that trying to relate with her grandkids about what they’re talking about
When Tkachuk went from the Flames to the Panthers I thought he was going to fade into obscurity because the Panthers are generally a team that few people pay attention to...but I couldn't have been more wrong. Heading to South Florida has turned out to be the best thing that's ever happened to him.
When u search up HIM, matthew Tkachuk shows up
This is why it's so good for the NHL & NBA to be on the same networks, cross-promotion. 🙂 Matthew Tkachuk has been THE story of these playoffs, helping guide the Panthers to their deepest playoff run in nearly 3 decades. And he's the type of player both on & off the ice who helps give the league even more 'eyeballs' for sure.
Will the real Chuck please stand up 😂
If you don’t watch hockey than you are missing out
Especially with Matthew Tkachuk
Agree. If you love physicality, speed, no nonsense, it's the sport for you.
Most American sport that most Americans don’t watch lol
@@Inshallahsiuuuu it’s most popular in Canada 😂
@@cusy_ ik I’m Canadian. Just saying it has the speed, physicality, and parity that Americans should love. They just don’t watch it lol 🤷♂️
I don't really follow the NBA(die hard NHL fan) but I will give them credit as they have a lot of good personalities. That is something NHL still lacks both with what is on the ice with the players/coaches and with TV/Studio crews.
Tnt has a prettygood both though
This is the best sports show to ever exist I promise
Chuck and Ernie are massive hockey fans I love it
Tkachuk what a player and that fact that he says treat everyone right be a good teammate … obvious he is and is making a big difference for this team hope they can win 4 more games
i'm slowly falling more in love with matthew by the moment i'm not embarrassed to admit that
I like that Hockey players let their beards grow with their playoff runs
About time they gave some love for hockey thanks to Chuck. As a flames fan and calgarian we are happy to see Matthew going to the finals and show the flames jersey. We miss chucky but glad he’s doing well so fast.
I see plenty of similarities between basketball and hockey: speed, skills, fast breaks, quick passing, even handoffs but by stick. Great sport, great interview, nice guy. And our quartet is impeccable as usual.
Get Shaq to a Panthers home game during the finals!
Shaq: When you get to the finals Matt, I want you to nail someone for me and yell this is for shaq!!😂😂😂
Other than 97, Matthew Tkachuk is the player I’m starting a franchise with. What a player.
Facts
29 is my franchise cornerstone.
I'll take Connor Bedard but Tkachuk would be a great third pick.
@@michaeljames6817 that’s crazy
@@MuhammadZegras How's that crazy? If you watch Bedard play he's clearly a McDavid-level talent. He's gonna be amazing starting next year.
Time for Shaq to get to a hockey game.
Perhaps he does not know that he once played in the same building as the LA Kings
@@thedude3065 he knows. Plus he used to be paid by the Devils for appearances decades ago.
Canadian here.
I love how TNT is treating the NHL. With all the horror stories about marketing and ESPN issues, I hope Bettman is willing to work with TNT more.
Gotta love Tkachuk
The "T" is silent in Tkachuk, correct?
Yup
Like Tchaikovsky!
Chucky did awesome. Great interview
Just another reason to love Charles , as if I needed any ..💖🍻✌️
I like that they are real questions that they want to know - like a conversation
a star is born!
Thank you to TNT for respecting the sport of hockey. Some of the greatest athletes in the world that can stand shoulder to shoulder with NBA, NFL and MLB. It’s been an outstanding season.
Inside Crew doing better work promoting the NHL than just about anyone, including the NHL for that matter. Lol. This is why I love this show more than any other sports show. The NHL is such a great sport. I will say, we need more characters in the sport. Mathew Tkachuk is one of the only characters we have, and his brother is pretty great too. Everyone is so bland.
A few years ago Kyle Lowry gave an interview imitating a hockey player and he hit all the cliches on the head. Bland is a perfect adjective as much as some fans might hate to hear that. I think the NHL's media training has a lot to do with interviews sounding robotic.
This was a great segment!
As a flames fan it really hurts too lose a guy like this but its really great too see him playing super amazing
Figures his last name would include chuck
I will admit
The one guy who really got me into hockey was UrinatingTree
he's the true goat
Was it because of Canes Man?
Inside the NBa is talking to hockey stars, and ESPN doing another segment on the Lakers. Not even close who’s better.
It's great and refreshing to see the NHL getting some spotlight like the other 3 sports do. And the NBA couldn't have chosen a better player, Matthew Tkachuk is the prototypical hockey player. He brings so much energy to the game.
That was hilarious 🤣
His answer for who he’s rooting for is the most hockey player answer ever
sad flames fan here. god i miss tkachuk... what a legend
Love NBA/NHL crossovers bulding sports is always a W
We need Chuck and Shaq as guests on an NHL panel
Top 3 player in the league this year.
Hahaha i’m always amazed how some people still know nothing about hockey 😂 it somehow still feels like the best kept secret after 100 years 😂
That was awesome
So different seeing TNT crossing over NBA and NHL but I kinda like it
"thats what they call it" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a Bruins fan, I can’t hate the player. I really want to but I can’t. During the series I couldn’t stand the man but I absolutely respect his game. He’s an incredibly fun guy to watch play hockey and he’s truthfully doing great things for the game.
What a great time to have such great former players NBA and NHL together that are hilarious! Great ambassadors for sports! God knows we need a few laughs right now...
When I was in high school I won a hockey pool and I had his dad I believe on Winnipeg at the time 🙌🏼
Go Tkachuk and Tatum! The Celtics are my favorite NBA team and the Panthers are my 2nd favorite NHL team. I hope they both win it all!
I would pay top dollar to see Shaq On Ice
That highschool clip crazy lol 🔥😂
TNT, the Savior we need.
love chuky miss u chuky
Toronto watching
Hockey is the best sport on the planet. They need to take Shaq to an NHL playoff game so he can see how intense it is! I bet he'd start to love it.
I like that Shaq thought he created home ice advantage 😂
Love it
Shaq kept it 💯 when speaking about Hockey 😅…. I don’t watch it but I like to see y’all fight
Tkachuk has swag man. Him being in Miami vs Calgary will help grow the game. Bettman talks about growing the game but it takes more than throwing a team in Los Angeles, Miami, Phoenix, Vegas, or Dallas. They have to be good, and having marketable stars helps. Everybody in Canada knows all these guys, but the problem is Canadians aren't gonna tune into a Panthers vs Knights series. Get some guys like Gretzky or Lindros. It didn't matter that they weren't Americans. They were stars.
Shaq coining the term "home ice" was hysterical!
Tkachuk is him
Hate the dude but would want him in my team
For me the problem with Hockey is that it just doesn’t translate as well on TV compared to live unlike basketball. Whenever I visit my relatives in California I make sure to watch atleast 1 Kings and 1 sharks game and I also watch atleast a couple of LA and warriors game and man Hockey live is amazing.
Chuck looked annoyed by that alarm/horn while he tryna listen to kenny question 😂
You know you've made it when you're on the NBA on TNT
Inside Crew + Florida Panthers. The duo I never knew I needed. Go cats!!!
Man what can you say? Tkachuk lives up to the name's legacy, gritty with an ability to score. Like father like son.
I'd watch hockey if I could ever catch it on Tv or it was marketed in any way...I literally never know when it's on but it seems like itd be a cool sport to watch in person
It has the same contract setup as the NBA so it shouldn’t be an issue to find
Shaq's skate move lol!
Shotout Keith Tkachuk, both of his kids are superstars in the nhl. Also him calling out the panthers really lit a fire under them. He told them they wkd have to train w him all summer if they didn't win the cup lol
chuck taking notes for nhl bets
Just another reason why TNT is head and shoulders above ESPN - Not even in the same league…
Like Richard Williams said about his daughters and tennis. They brought excitement and athleticism. Celebs packed the stands to see them. Look at what Coco Gauff.
ESPN doesn't deserve the NHL, the best network to cover it in the USA is clearly TNT!!
I wish Matt was a Canadian so he could play on Team Canada. He is a very impressive player at a young age.
This is awesome to see. I love this
Hockey is Like Dat! ...
Gve it a chance Shaq , its just as or more exciting than any of the other 4 majors ..
The pressure is over the heat now...i think the Celtics are on the verge of rewriting the history.
