Getting caught in a downpour at WDW is my favorite memory with my kids. At some point you’re just so wet you can’t do anything but laugh and splash in the puddles. Thankfully we don’t melt in the rain 😃
Getting caught in the rain on the beach is one of my favorite memory makers. And the no see um part had me in stitches - I'm glad it didn't get you. Thanks for taking us along for the adventure, Jen! So excited you get a Disney day next vlog!
This so makes me want to take a little trip. Due to the pandemic, it has been over a year since I've been able to get away. I totally understand about loving home and family but needing to get away with zero responsibilities, if even for a short time. Self care is so important. Looking forward to seeing Hilton Head DVC!
Lovely! I haven't ever stayed overnight in Hillton Head, but my son-in-law worked at the Westin there before moving to a hotel here in Savannah. Isn't it AMAZING walking onto a beach?!? 🏖 I only live about twenty minutes from Tybee Island, but I still get excited EVERY time I go!!! 😍😍😍 And RAIN on a beach is perfect!!! ☔ Thank for sharing your getaway with us! Continued love and health!!! 💜💜💜
There’s nothing like taking a break from the things we love (our home, our pets, our everyday lives) and enjoy time to restore and take a break. My traveling heart is sad and I’m so happy to see the things I love about travel through your experiences. The excitement of stepping into a hotel room and where are we getting dinner. Etc. I love it. Thank you Jen for taking us along!
Thanks for bringing us along with you! Your story about the rain reminded me of our beach wedding. Not 5 minutes after we said our I Do’s, a huge storm rolled in. It turned out to be my favorite memory of our wedding day. Running through the sand barefoot holding hands, with raining pouring down and laughing the whole way! My wedding dress was soaked, but I didn’t care. Thirteen years later, and that is still my favorite detail. (Aside from the groom, of course. 😉)
Your videos...where does one begin!!! They are so relaxing and completely make me dream of the day I can do this!! Such an amazing chance to just “take care of you”, that really hit me, as moms (I have 5) we are truly the last in line for everything 😊 Such a wonderful thing to do!!! Theresa xo
The very first time I did this was August of 2001. The twins were 2 and my oldest was 5 and I just spent one night at our local Four Seasons resort. It was AMAZING and I have been getting away by myself regularly ever since then. I'm very grateful for a husband that gets that this time is VITAL for me and although the boys are now all independent, it's become a treasured part of my life!

What was that amazing song playing over the footage at the beach? I love it! I have a theory as to why it is so exhausting to drive a long distance by yourself, and that is there is no one else to help absorb the energy along the way. If you see something fun or weird, no one to discuss with. If something scary happens, no one to help calm down with. No one to help navigate. No one one to help decide where to eat, etc. The driver has to internalize all that energy, which is fatiguing. Anyway, that is my VERY SCIENTIFIC take on that matter. Can't wait for Part 2! Did she kill the bug or not?? Very cliffhanger-y. :-)
Hey doodette. Glad to see you are getting out of town. We just went to dafuskie island off Hilton Head Island. Looking forward to seeing what’s going on at the resort. I just got back from Kidani Village and had a good time. Now back in Charleston and have to edit all my adventures!

I can’t wait to hear what you think of the DVC resort. I live close by and go over for a dole whip or Mickey bar if I need a fix or just go in the little gift shop. But I always wonder about staying there with only quick service food. Hope it was great.
Thanks for taking us along! FWIW - when I go visit a friend in Oklahoma - it’s a 7+ hour drive (440 miles) for me. And the older I get, the more it wears me out
Great start to the vacation! I absolutely love driving. I will drive 12 hours to meet someone for dinner :-) I have never been to Hilton Head. I have found that during this "great unpleasantness" one of my favorite things is trying new restaurants that deliver. On to day 2 :-)
We stayed at the omni 5 years ago and loved it! We drove from Wisconsin! 🤪 Very curious to see how you think the disney property compares. The indirect access to the beach was the big sticking point for us. Can't wait to see more! 🤩
THat's a good idea to first check into somewhere else; that way you don't feel like you've lost your first day at the DVC resort. That Omni hotel looks nice too.
Well, I've been to Paris and London by myself so this was really not a big thing! And I broke the drive up so stopped right about the half way point to stretch and eat a snack.

Last month when I was in Universal on my last night leaving the HArd Rock I got catch in a downpour and was soaked to the broke by the time I get back to my hotel, getting wet wasn’t awful but walking through the lobby to the elevator was FREEZING! Once in the room, I couldn’t get out of them fast enough and into a hot shower!.
Amazing day one! Soooo glad you are relaxing and resting! Can't wait to see the rest of the trip. I definitely need to do a restful trip by myself soon... you've inspired me!

I stayed at the Omni Hilton Head for about three months (at a discounted long term rate) during the buying process for a home in Bluffton back in 2017 and the kitchenettes were equipped with glassware, mugs, plates, bowls, utensils, and a wine opener. I’m guessing they’ve removed everything due to COVID, as all kitchen items were just washed by hand in the room by housekeeping. I would’ve thought that they’d just replace with disposable items, but looks like not. I’ve recently moved away from the area and Omni is where I will stay if going back for a visit. Seeing this video brought back some great memories! Thank you so much for sharing you trip with us!! EDIT: I love all your videos! And as a hopeful dvc owner I’m learning so much from you.
