  • Hey everyone, thank you so much for watching and supporting my videos! I really appreciate all the lovely comments I've been receiving recently. Here is ep6, in this video, I backpack from Orkel Bridge, after wild camping there the night, i head off early along the river orkel, this was a 19 mile day and I managed to set up on a beautiful spot amist the mountains. The following day, I headed onto the Glendu bothy which was absolutely breathtaking, the first glimpses of the sea. Next morning, was very chilly, I set off at first light and trekked all the way to Rhionich where I set up for the night, this place was beautiful over looking a sea loch and reflecting on my journey so far, knowing I haven't got too far to push on... Will I make it to the Cape Wrath Lighthouse...
    I hope you enjoy xoxo

Water proofing spray would take care of your shoes. Devise a device to hang your socks over while cooking your food. A bread toaster comes to mind.

The section from Oykel Bridge onwards really was the best part of the trail for me, I stayed at the Schoolhouse Bothy though, met a few others and it was a good night. The Bealach at Ben More Assynt you talked about the stunning view was where I camped, the views and the sunset were as you say absolutely stunning. The following days' hike I spent just gobsmacked at how beautiful it was until I spent a perfect night at Glendhu Bothy by myself.
I liked Benmore Lodge although my experience will add to your creepiness I think. A hunt was returning with a stag and a lassie I got speaking to makes extra cash from collecting animal bones/skulls from the estate and selling them on.
That camp though was amazing at Ben More.

Despite the harsh conditions and discomfort, Becky, you sound happier and more confident these days. You find plenty of interesting things to show us. But, if you ever find yourself short of things to say, I'm sure viewers would enjoy hearing snippets of your earlier history, pre-UA-cam, and how you got to be here. Sad to be near the end of the trip. Come and explore some more wilderness in the Cairngorms soon!

Where you camped at the end of the day is approximately 2 miles north of where my mother grew up in the 1930s to 50s.
It's still a hard way of life today, but brutally tough for previous generations.

In Oregon we have a saying, " If you don't like the weather, wait 30 minutes." I never realized that Oregon and Scotland were twin Sisters! I am so glad you trusted your intuition or "Gut instinct" when it comes to strange places. It will never fail you. I feel for your wetness! You are almost at the end of your amazing trek. I keep wanting to watch " Brave Heart " again, they were a hearty bunch running through the mountains! Thank you it's brilliant..

Well Becky, another stunning walk, this time through classic fly-fishing country! The walk up the trail from the Inchnadamph Hotel to the waterfall took you past several good trout lochs, and I've fished Loch Stack many times! Then from Loch Stack you took the trail in the direction of the famous and prolific Stalkers brown trout beat, but you avoided the right turn to the beat in favour of the route straight ahead to Rhiconich (pronounced Rick-on-ick with the emphasis on "on" 😊. Maybe you should have taken a fly rod after all - but with 19 miles you wouldn't have had time to fish...it normally takes me 4 hours to catch something 😁 Now going to watch the finale! 👏

I am so impressed with your achievement. Having spent 40 years walking some of Britain's most challenging walks and climbs I know what you have been through, and how you must have felt. To do this as a single woman is awesome. Some years ago, long before there was a 'Cape Wrath Trail' I walked to the lighthouse and back to Blairmore. Northward of Sandwood Bay there is no path, and following the coast the going is really rough. To complete this trail, alone and camping, is one extraordinary accomplishment. You have my total respect !

Good Lord Almighty Becky! After each episode I just become more impressed with your tenaciousness! You just kept marching along in absolute CRAP cold and wet weather.
Those who have not trekked in cold weather with wet boots have no clue how miserable that is. I know I "hated" it whenever I've had to do it. :) Then crossing those fast river crossings. Man!! That just sucks any time of year. Never mind when it's cold. And it is quite sketchy too. A fall into a rocky, cold river could end VERY badly. I've said it before and I'm going to say it again. You are my hero Becky. 👍👍💖💖💖💖🌹🌹🌹👌✌ Were I there in Durness when you finished at the Lighthouse, I would buy you the best meal in town and put you up in the best hotel. Looking forward to the final trek. You GO girl!! Love ya! 💖💖💖💖🌹🌹👍👍
Note for golfers: The golf course in Durness is one of the most fun I have every played anywhere. Challenging in the ever constant WND and STUNNING views of the sea.
