  • In this video I show you how to set up an automatic Christmas tree watering system. Real Christmas trees are great to have but they have one problem: they have to be watered. Typically this would prevent you from going on vacation or visiting family for a few days. Now with this system you can visit friends and family knowing your tree is happy and healthy. No more coming home to a dead and dried up tree!

Try filling the tube up with water from a faucet, plugging both ends with your thumb. Insert both ends in water before removing thumbs. No sucking.

I just run the tube out of the tree stand up the trunk and out towards the back of the tree. Small funnel to the tube and water as necessary. Of course useless if your not around to add water. You have a great idea there. Come on Spring !!!

Thanks for watching! What you do is a really good idea to prevent bending over trying to pour the water in the stand. I enjoyed watering the tree when I was little because I liked crawling under it but now that I'm an adult I don't enjoy it.hahaha

Ok I have a question. Is it better for me to create this your way? I purchased a box that does this before finding your video from Amazon and it seems the best way for the siphon to work is if it’s up higher than the tree stand which doesn’t make sense to me when you have it here doing it this way.

It's really personal preference. One idea I think would be neat to do would be to wrap the container and it's lid in wrapping paper separately, so it just looks like a present sitting under the tree. Then, instead of bending down to keep filling the small stand, simply lift the container lid up and add water. Thank you for watching!

I couldn't get it to work. It wouldn't suck from the bucket and when I put it higher it flooded over the stand. What happened? Thanks

The reason it overflowed is because you would have filled the bucket to a higher height than the tree stand. The water in each container flows to make them level with each other regardless of the amount of water. If your fill marking is higher than the tree stand depth it will overflow.
I will normally start with the tree stand only halfway filled so that once I fill my bucket to the right height, I will actually see the stand filling up so I know it's working correctly. The tree stand overflowing once you added more water makes me think the siphon was flowing, but a little too much water in your refill bucket. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions about this!!
