yes really good idea using a plant product that actually in Brazil is one of the reasons why the trees are vanishing in the rain forests there , ethanol actually is worse fot the environment but has a better profit margin , the amount of land it takes to produce this liquid is crazy , but as usual that isn't important is it
it's made from farming chaff... all the waste that just gets thrown in the bin...

Making the fuel as nasty as they can, playing us out the game
If they want to achieve that might I suggest they reanimate T-Stoff and C-Stoff. That would liven up the traffic.
Erm. plenty of classic cars driving around Aus... all running E85, run cleaner at a lower temp giving a higher overall octane level... yeah will need as few replacement hoses and rubbers.
Jesus, the amount of swaying Fuzz is doing and steadying himself on the car makes me wonder how much ethanol he's been drinking 😂
Winging it ????
Which of the 2 woman he could see was he talking to
Hahahahaahhaha
🤣 he was definitely winging it. And the woman says right at the end "so there's nothing to worry about!"🤣
Fukin BRILLIANT W absolutely fukin brilliant 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Would have expected more from this guy. Ethanol ate the little blanking plugs in the carbs of my GS550, which took ages to sort out. So maybe panic just a bit, it is not just the fuel line is it.
Does a lot more, eats the rubber gaskets within the carbs, attacks the brass jets and leaves them blocked ,furs up the alloy float bowls, makes the float and needle stick.
It's not something you can leave standing for a long time, fine if you use you bike on a regular basis .
Absolutely,i've had all sorts of pros, and we have to fit the bill,so yes panic if you want to be safe, cracking fuel hose on a VW beetle for instance, sprays fuel over the exhaust..........nice.
I have a lot of respect for Fuzz but on this subject he hasn't got a clue.
He was winging it. And the woman says right at the end "so there's nothing to worry about!"🤣
Out of his and her depth both of them
I wrote to my tory MP over this and other "green ideas" and he wrote back saying he fully supports the governments stance on green energy, the lunatics i fear have taken over the asylum, needless to say he has just lost my vote, Will my 31 year old SL run on this crap E10 i dont want to chance it.
William I run my Mercedes which also 30 years on Shell V max only,is. E5
I also put in the the additive which you can get From Halfords just add about two cap full to a full tank of fuel
yes it will, and it'll run better too, Australia have used E85 for years... just upgrade the hoses
Don't want to use it in my 42yo Manta either !👎
Don’t put it in your tank I put it in my 15 year old E60 2.5i BMW which normally runs perfect within an hour of filling up with E10 my engine management light came on and my engine started running rough took it to the garage as use ant trust he drained it out and put in super unleaded and it returned to normal I for one will never use it again
Why is Fuzz rambling like a prime minister 🤔?
When E fuels first appeared (E5 in 2011 iirc) I had significant problems with my Reliant, firstly it was down on power and economy and most notable was gasification in that after being on a long run i'd pull into services fill up or whatever then upon starting again to continue the engine would start easily enough but if you touched the accelerator to pull away would have no power and/or stall immediately, I checked and re-checked all the settings (carb, timing, valve clearances etc) but nothing was amiss so in desperation I then tried super unleaded (Alkylate fuel) immediately the engine reverted back to pre E5, so doing a bit of research I found that ethanol boils at 60C° whereas petrol boils at 80C° so because Reliant engines run in a small poorly ventilated engine bay that relies on airflow, when the vehicle stops the "heat soak" from the engine and exhaust heats the carburettor until the ethanol in the fuel in the main jet (SU carb, the main jet is brass which being a copper base alloy has greater thermal conductance than the aluminium alloy of the carb body) gasifies causing gas bubbles in the fuel jet and thus the fuel mixture. I thought I was alone with this problem and it was unique to Reliants until various friends with carburated bikes mentioned a similar problem (this doesn't affect fuel injected systems as the fuel is pressurised until injection) and I suggested trying this which cured the problem for them as well.
Ethanol fuel in itself can be used for ICE's but generally require higher compression ratios or boost (super/turbo charging) as it's a relatively slow burning fuel and/or more spark advance (more advance less C.R.) and more fuelling (bigger jets) but when mixed with gasoline on engines not designed for these types of fuels actually becomes a hindrance (the ethanol burns but contributes nothing to the power due to it's slow burn and if you advance the spark detonation will occur from the gasoline (no leading anymore that was added to prevent this)), this is all apart from the hydrscopic issues and rubber (and other materials) component compatibilty.
Any case that's my take on the whole E fuels issue.
I think there is a need for immediate panic.
E10 fuel, and then later E20/30 etc will certainly ruin an industry that is worth over £5 Billion pounds to the UK economy.
Also this will affect jobs, and companies who work hard to keep older vehicles on the road.
This is typical of UK Governments and a downright bloody shambles. They certainly don't want the 'lower orders' driving their classics do they!! I'll bet they won't be jumping on their electric bikes eh.
THEY wont be able to drive them either. A pile of ashes comes to mind.
It's all part of the Great Reset, Life Before Shmovid is the past!
@@brittishman7870 it certainly is part of the great reset. Planned by Klaus Schwab, with Prince Charles and David Attenborough as huge fans, and all governments.
Aren't you contradicting yourself slightly ?
Think of all the work repairing all these to be damaged fuel systems.
The guys n gals working to keep classic cars running will be inundated with work
Fukinell was Mr Fuzz pished when he was being interviewed? Sway sway sway oh best hold myself up on this green thing.
What about Carburettor float bowls ?
Friends have shown me horrible corrosion in vehicles that have been stored even with drained systems.
The fuel left in the float bowls has caused them problems.
There is NO stabiliser that will protect your car/bike from Ethanol. Stabilisers will only help the petrol from going stale and helps with evaporation.
Damn this dude gets really philosophical about the questions and forgets to answer them
'Need boffins'? Someone who knows what they're talking about would certainly help . . .
Expected far more from Fuzz, unprepared or just waffling?
Boris wants all the classics weighed in and us in electric buses.
What he never mentioned was the drop in fuel economy. From what I've read and after talking to a few people it seem like your buying five tanks of fuel for the original four on E5. Perhaps some of you would like to confirm or deny that statement. They is also the extra tax the Government make on the sale of ethanol from the fuel suppliers. As with all these green ventures, they sometimes are done for the extra revenue.
Yep, ethanol has significantly less energy content than the base fuel meaning less performance and less mpg, meaning you burn more of it. Clearly good for the planet!
Can’t say I approve of the stuff, but my wife’s car is giving the same mpg on e10.
Still putting super in mine!
ive been using alot of e10 in my bmw e31 v12 , does the same mpg and i cant tell any difference , i wont be using any of these so called stabilisers complete waste of money !
@@repairitdontreplaceit Well, it's a fact that ethanol contains less energy than the base petrol so if you do not notice any difference then that is due to a lack of sensitivity to performance and/or driveability and deficiencies in your fuel economy testing methods.
@@raydavison2972 and as you dont use it you cant actually comment with any experiance can you !
Fuel lines you can see - if you look - but O rings in carbs and injectors etc will fail before you see them and what carnage might that cause with high pressure fuel spraying around a hot under bonnet area?
The only issue I've had on my Landrover Series 2 fitted with the Zenith 361v Carburettor is the expansion of the main O ring led to a very rich erratic idle which is something that was never effected before using the higher ethanol content fuel, I periodically check the fuel hoses and to date don't seem to be affected and I did recently drain the fuel tank to check for water in the fuel and absolutely nothing was untoward and it went back into the tank and used without any problems to report.
Well done Steve for posting that 👏 👍 👌 hopefully it'll settle those who have been panicked by this issue of E10 and its so called negative effects.
Esso Synergy 99 RON is currently free of biocrap - in most of the south of England at least.
Their website statement (accessed 17/11/21): 'Although our pumps have E5 labels on them, our Synergy Supreme+ 99 is actually ethanol free (except, due to technical supply reasons, in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, North England and Scotland).
TOTAL fuel make an ethanol free fuel UL 91 for aviation use. If you're lucky enough to live near a small club type airfield it is worth asking the question.
Esso can do this because there's currently no legislation to make the fuel companies add ethanol to premium fuels (although they must be labelled E05).
Is the camera man pissed stand still man
He’s not the only one
Didn't really answer the questions we need to know. Is E5 and E10 harming other parts of our fuel systems? What about the rubber diaphragms in classic fuel pumps, for instance?
Good question.
Change all your rubber part that are in contact with the petrol. It will corrode said parts .
However it's not all bad news .you can take the e10 out of your petrol easy . .25 ltr clear container . Fill with petrol e10.. 1 ltr off water . Add food dye. Add the ltr to your petrol .shake the whole container until the petrol get bubbly . .leave over night to settle .or longer. The e10 is attracted to the water .syphon on the petrol that sits above the water dye mixture. Add some octane booster then put into said classic car .

Find the parts and fit them saving your still working originals for whenever the need arises.
Look at the methods given on UA-cam for separating the methanol from the petrol.
just get new rubber parts suitable for ethanol
The 10 in E10 represents a percentage, so 10% of 10L is ethanol.
Ethanol is hydrophilic, (it sticks to water).
10% of 10L is 1L, so to extract 1L of ethanol from 10L of E10, you add 1L of water.
Mix well and allow petrol to separate (probably overnight is best).
You'll end up with a 2L water ethanol mix at the bottom and 9L of unleaded petrol on top of it
Syphon off the unleaded, and dump the water ethanol mix at your local tip oil tank.
You can add octane enhancers to the extracted unleaded if you want.
There are several videos up here of people demonstratnig this process.
Here's a guy doing it for lawnmowers.
ua-cam.com/video/7VwxRVATbOQ/v-deo.html
E5 doesn’t actually mean it has 5% ethanol, it depends on the area of the country you live in. In Scotland all E5 is 5% ethanol but in some counties in England it doesn’t have any ethanol in it. This has been confirmed by the petroleum industry.
Nice try, Fuzz, but it is bleeding obvious that you have no more clue than the rest of us. All you said is what anyone could have read in the motoring press. Stick to what you understand best. Your interviewer seems to know more about this than you do!
About right!!....
Esso Synergy 99 in the South of England contains no Ethanol, I have a “Local Fuels” petrol station near me it’s petrol is zero Ethanol.
It not just classic vehicles that are effected by E10, I have a 2004 nissan that was running like crap and virtually lost all power after using E10, after draining the fuel tank and started using super unleaded it was running fine again.
My take on it,! it's a cash grab
My classic bikes and car now have rusty tanks (car one was brand new 4 years ago)which never was a problem,i stripped down 1 set of bike carbs 2 months ago(rebuilt with new kits only 3 years ago)which has rust blocking the air jets on 2 carbs out of 4,and last week had to strip my Dellortos carbs, as car was running bad under acceleration, found rust blocking the air jet in one set,so for me its a headake so far.Back in the 70-80's my bike had done 60000 without any rebuilds of carbs.Had exactly what Fuzz had with fuel pipes cracking on my classic car,ive replaced with R9 hose now,Coincidence?
I had my fuel tank cleaned out and lined, then within 8 years the E5 was stripping the lining!Little bits kept clogging the system, better buy an aluminium or stainless steel tank if you can.
Yes Ethanol eats the so called resistant lining your tank,i read this after i bought the stuff, its still on my shelf!!!!
Have just got an older car and use E5 and won't be used in Winter. Just realised I need to concider what to do about the fuel going off and how to maintain that on a SORN vehicle.
Anyone have any advice?

My A4 Quattro is noticeably more sluggish with E10 and is down 3 to 4 mpg on repeated comparable runs. 99 RON Tesco Momentum is still E5 and the Audi is back to normal. Just use super E5 fuel in your classic and you shouldn't have a problem.

it'll be down on MPG but it'll run better overall, sluggish? race cars use high ethanol fuels lol
@@insomniacbritgaming1632 that’s because race engines typically run higher compression so need additional octane which ethanol provides. Dosnt mean it’s actually better in standard engines that are not made for it. A good acquaintance of mine has a 63 Jag Mk2 and has taken the ethanol out of his petrol by using water- he has done this for many years ! He then puts in a bottle of RedEx lead replacement and the car really runs very well !
High octane fuel,it was built in the day's of 4 and 5 star fuel, and it's not built for water, and vegetable matter!.
No mention of fuel pump diaphrams !!! You might have expected him to know how . they could cause trouble in a classic car,
Tetraboost with e guard is good stuff
Esso supreme unless you live in cornwall has no ethanol at all, even though the pumps are marked e5
Ethanol is also a Refinery by product in SA we were running on synthetic fuel made from coal the whole refinery raw material were low grade coal processed through the factory the problem were the water damage to the fuel systems over time that were solved and they made a duel fuel wich could be used in the older cars wich required a lead based fuel and modern cars that do not need leaded fuel but the Ethonal can cause problems on rubber componants
Use E5 but also remove the ethanol (it’s simple to do) and add octane booster (even simpler!)
Just use E5 simple

adjust the timing... race engines run on high ethanol fuels
@@insomniacbritgaming1632 but the OEM ECU has little scope for that, it can and does auto adjust to some affect , but its not that great, so is a non starter, and aftermarket chipping is also out as its never been that popular for anything outside of the top end versions of the car.
@@pkf4124 all ECU'S can be modified to some degree, but either way, E10 isn't as bad as people are thinking it is. I mean people have been running E85 for years with minimal issues, it burns cleaner, burns lower temps meaning there is less wear on components.
My 1931 sidevalve Austin 7 runs on any old shite mate!
Good grief Fuzz... just stick to tinkering with cars mate. Rule of thumb - go by what your car manufacturer / handbook / franchise dealer tells you. Example - my 1991 Toyota Supra Mk3 is cleared to run on E5 but not E10, this is due to the rubber components in the fuel injection system. I had to email Toyota's European HQ in Belgium though to get the answer. So I now run on Premium 'protected grade' 98 octane E5 which is still available in the UK, though you may have to shop around for it. Older Classics from the 1960s/70/80s should also be run on this 'protected grade', as should earlier cars from the 20s through 50s. Yes it costs more per litre but its a darned sight cheaper than modifying or rebuilding or fuel system / engine.
E10 eats everything especially Aluminium, Modern cars have Aluminium Engines!!! Common sense says replace rubber parts etc but it's still going eat into metals!!! My tip is fill up add water, leave 24hrs then drain excess water and ethanol out before use!!!

All cars can run on it .It’s like the panic around leaded Fuel eventually you will have to replace components on the fuel system but they will run on it
Easy to generalise but in reality that’s not the case.
Just don’t buy E10 and it will disappear
If your car stands for a while, any water absorbed will indeed sink to the bottom taking with it all the ethanol, can't imagine cars running too well on ethanol and water!
