The next big one is here! It’s part 2 of my feature length vlog sailing the Norwegian fjords onboard P&O Iona. Join me on Saturday 24 June for the premier when I’ll be chatting live from Skiathos, Greece!
Only been to Norway once, 30 years ago whilst Interrailing around Europe but it’s just as beautiful as I remember. Must do an Norwegian cruise one day . Thanks for sharing Jamie 🙏
Jamie, thanks for all your reviews. We’ve just come back from our first cruise and your reviews were very helpful. On luggage labels, what to pack and the time likely to take for embarkation, security and queuing you were spot on. We didn’t choose any specialty eating but used the Horizon buffet and the main dining rooms, but the food quality and quantity was so good in these. So thanks again. Enjoy your post teaching life!
Great Blog Jamie, been on Iona twice and IMO you missed the two best places out, Brodies bar and the Limelight Club, if you go again please cover these
Yet again another fab vlog! I was the lovely lady who accosted you on the stairs and said about you and Emma cruises inspiring me. I loved my first P&O cruise and went with an open mind as had only done Disney Cruise before. I'm now constantly on the look for my next adventure lol! It's costly travelling solo during the school holidays though. I know I'll find that perfect fit soon though. Thank you a million again for the inspiration!
Yet another amazing vlog, full of information including showing that sometimes there are changes out of your control and port have to be missed 😢 loved that Captain 👨✈️ Wesley woke you with announcements 😂
Love these feature length vlogs and the little spin-offs detailing restaurants etc. You always add little helpful snippets along with loads of info which is so helpful to those of us who haven't cruised as much as you and Mafoo! I was lolling at this vlog, highly entertaining and I love that Mafoo pretends to reluctantly join in but loves it really 😂
Just watched having my morning coffee in the garden - very funny and informative, I’m definitely doing this cruise, in a balcony cabin- I agree with you about insides 😊
Great vlog, loved seeing Matthew on the RIB, and laughed out loud to his reaction to the acrobatic show! We are off to the fijords next week, and now we can’t wait!!
I'm just rewatching this as I'm going on this cruise in a few weeks, but I'm cracking up at when you had the unexpected sea day and Matthew is tapping on the shop windows saying back to work 😂😂
Its been a very helpful vlog series. We're on Iona in September in a balcony cabin. Your Part 1 was excellent and prompted me to book the Loen Skylift.
Another goodun. You didn't miss anything in Haugesund Jamie. We were there 2 weeks before you, and I can tell you there is nothing there. Good to hear you are on Arvia later this year. We're on it in 2 weeks. Your vlogs always keep us in the mood for cruising. Keep up the good work, and hello to Mafoo 😊
What a cracking video , getting better and better and I see Maffoo is doing his own you tube , I think you mentioned how much you love the inside once or 20 times😂😂😂
We’ve booked this ship for Easter going to Rotterdam Germany and Belgium. This was so helpful and for once I’m thinking of booking one of the restaurants. Looked at your drinks package tips and it was very useful comparing the money spent on drinks pay as you go or on the package. Be use elf this advice we’re gonna go pay as you go. Thank you 😊
Hi Jamie we have just come back from the Fjords cruise with Iona and had an amazing time, weather great, ship fabulous! Thank-you for all your info it came in very useful. Fish and chips and waffles at the Quays was the food highlight for me! Back on the Ventura next year and cannot wait! Happy sailing guys xxx
Loved watching your guide to the cruise - myself and 2 children (17 & 20) will be boarding Iona in 4 weeks time so it's been very informative 👍. (Only just discovered you last week but already hooked 😊)
great video as always. been to the fjords myself but not as part of a cruise ( never done a cruise). I was on my own and stayed in Gudvangen which is a few miles from Flam. walked about a lot and met a few goats and seals. Four day trip and it rained for two of them. no tv, radio or newspapers and this was about 20 years ago. my room had a glass roof and i had views of the waterfall opposite. really enjoyed it. as for that speedboat trip, it looked amazing but those seats did not look comfy and they were too close to the people in front and behind.
Hi Jamie and Matthew! Great video as always and especially when on this cruise there were friends of mine on the same cruise. So was watching to see if I could catch a glimpse of them. But alas no! Maybe you did see them off camera 😂 I know you have a ‘Naughty Nibble Cupboard’ (NCC) and after many years of cruising with RCI we are going to do the same next week to the Fjords on Anthem, along with two cruise newbies. Wish us Luck 😮😂
Norway looks amazing! If we enjoy our first cruise in October (on Iona) then we are wanting to go to Norway for the second one...and I'm delighted that I can get a cheeky wee Costa iced latte on board, I'm addicted to them, I have caramel syrup in mine (sorry Jamie) Loving all the videos, you guys are brilliant. x
I do love Iona, very much with you on the natural light though. I love waking up to natural light and the bow cam on the TV just doesn't quite work as well as an actual window. Would love to see you on board one day. Partly to say thank you for your videos and replies to our questions prior to our first ever cruise on Aurora in 2018... And partly to tell you off for how much money we've spent on cruises since starting to watch your videos about them 😂
Great vid...you just saved us £3500. Where we going next?...Just kidding! Last time i went on a cruise was on the Canberra in 1986 when i was 23 just after the Falklands conflict. We really enjoyed your holiday....and have been inspired ......we are now follwing your next trip...from a couple in Kent😊 .
Hello Jamie and Matthew. Great video, as usual. If you hadn't gone for self disembarkation, what time do you think you would have got off? My parking is off site and so will need to be transferred. I've put down the return time as 10:30, and am wondering if that's a reasonable estimate. Cheers!
It was nice to see you on board. Shame the beachcomber pool and bar wasn’t adult only on Iona. My wife is also a teacher (primary special needs) and some adult only free space would be ideal as we too have to travel in the school holidays.
Great vlog Jamie, we are doing exact same cruise next June on Iona. First time with P&O, we are usually team Marella. Would you believe we are doing the USA cruise on Discovery too, I wonder if it's the same week as you 😅😅
Hi Jamie. We have just booked our very first cruise on Iona for June next year to the fjords and it’s all your fault 😂🤣 love your blogs Jamie thank you 🙏
The rib looks amazing. When I go back I'll definitely do the rib. Hellesylt is a lovely village. I went on an excursion to Geiranger, and to the lake, there were so many hairpin bends, not for the faint hearted. Did you cruise by the Seven Sisters water all after you left?
@@TravelBlogJamie we sailed up to the Seven Sisters last year and turned around just after. There was an Aida ship that had just left Geiranger and we had a bit of a horn battle. I think the captain of the Aida ship kept his finger on the button, he was very noisy.
Hello Jamie, we just booked our cruise for May 2025 with P&O so your videos were very helpful and enjoyable! I have a question, can you take 1 bottle of wine on board in your suitcase?? Oh and it really helped with the drinks package do I, don't I? :D
@@TravelBlogJamie Fair enough pal. Again, thanks for sharing your experiences. We're going next April, and we're even more excited now we've watched your vlogs (and we'll be in an inside cabin too 🤣)
ello! Just discovered your channel. What time of year was your cruise, please? And how often do port cancellations tend to happen? I've seen a couple of youtubers mention an unexpected sea day on Iona and I wonder if it's a regular thing :/
Very informative blog, thank you. You did make me laugh at times Jamie 😂 I was wondering how long it took to self disembark? Looked like such a long queue but maybe it moved swiftly?
Hi just watched your vlog I'm going in April so your vlog is very helpful thank you . So unofficially what drinks did you take on board and did you take all your own snacks as I have colitis and diabetes and likely snacks incase of emergency lol Thank you
No unofficial about it - it’s official, you may have seen in vlog no.1 you are allowed to take on board a litre bottle of alcohol each to consume in your cabin. You are allowed to take on board soft drinks. Yes, take your snacks on. This is all allowed.
Do you mean the trio to Loen Skylift? You can’t go on an excursion early as you’ll be given a time but for Loen, it’s a DIY job and yes, go as soon as you do m otherwise the lines will just get longer and longer as the day progresses
I know this isn’t relevant to this video but how easy is it to book flight seats on fly cruises with P&O? Got a Caribbean one booked this year and should have the fight details available soon!
Hi Jamie, going on a Fjords cruise is August, do you recommend getting any NOK before departure for the port visits, or is card taken mostly everywhere. Many thanks
From every vlog I’ve seen on YT it’s a good job you can eat easily many times throughout the day as the portion sizes for an average person are laughable 😂 You were served 4 chunky chips with your fillet steak for example 🙄 Great vlog btw 👍
