Hell yeah man! Thanks for the shout out! Also your setup looks incredible!
less trem broh… plas
Trem?
Hell yeah man that's a bad ass guitar dude!!!! SOLAR have quite a few really nice guitars they have the more popular body styles flying V 🤟,,Les Paul style 🤟,, stratocaster styles,, explorer style,,,!!!! Now even the S series more affordable for us scruffy blue collar factory workers who don't make that much money lol......I own 16 guitars now I have a few different types ( Epiphone, Ibanez's, Jackson's, Mitchell Ms 450's, Harley Benton,,,,......I've got my eye on a solar lately and I promise that the next guitar I buy I'm going to get a solar because OLA ENGLUND IS LIKE OUR HERO RIGHT NOW HES A TOP TIER GUY THAT IS EXTREMELY SERIOUS AND DEDICATED TO HIS BUSINESS HIS BANDS HIS CRAFT HIS MUSIC !!! ola is a viking and vahalla will reign supreme in this guitar market god bless ola for giving the world a true metal mother fucking axe to create this music known as the metal of death 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟😝🤟💯😜🤟💯
Did you say affordable? Bro the one in this video costs 1500 euros
I love the natural wood grain metal shape. Like a Viking's Axe. 🔥🪓🔥
10:05, ok. That funky groove on that particular guitar was absolutely PRICELESS, RJ! 😂Great video and great guitar!
I agree thanks for pointing that out. It's funny
Love the Beastie Boys shirt. RIP Adam Yauch 😢
Hello Mr Ronquillo !
I have a little comment about Locking Tuners in general, well, more an advice than a comment.
You say "the locking tuners were a little loose when the guitar was delivered".
Well, never over-tighten any model of any brand of locking tuners ... very bad idea.
The "locking pins" inside the tuners already have a specific profile that pushes the strings in spherical holes at the top of the tuning post, so no need to over-tighten the mechanism, locking tuners are not cheap and they can break if you over-tighten them (believe me, I was THAT stupid once), and if you can't find the same specific ones, you'll probably wind up drilling new holes in your headstock to accommodate locking tuners from another brand.
That's all !
I actually purchased one of my preferred guitars (baritone) after an advice that you gave me during a Facebook conversation we had a couple of years ago.
Thank you for the nice reviews and for your great advice !
God bless you !
👍👍
I kinda crank mine a good bit, just so that the thumbwheel sort of "breaks" loose when unlocking the strings for a restring. Is that too much, you think?
@@nckhed
As I said, there is a "profile" at the top of the channel where the "locking pin" moves up and down (tighten/loosen) inside the tuning post. You've surely changed strings, so you must have seen that "mark" on the strings where the pins push the strings inside these profiles (sort of a U shape), and that's exactly what actually locks the strings.
Just "finger-tighten" the locking tuners so the strings stay secure, on top of that, the 90° angle where the strings exit the tuners posts also contribute to the strings being locked. After a certain time you get the feel for when it's "just right" and will stay locked.
Have fun ! Play loud ! 👍👍
I have 5 Solar 1.6 guitars. 3 with floyd rose, 1 with Evertune funnily enough the E1.6 FBB and 1 with a hard tail.
I don’t play metal. For me it’s about their necks.
The fit and finish on all mine have been flawless.
Cheers from NZ 😎🎸🤘
Video should pan to Ola's house with a picture of his dining room table with an explorer-shaped chunk missing :)
A scene from Red Dwarf springs to mind! 😂
That cut out should get "artistically" filled in with resin, may be a miniature Lego tropical paradise?
Mannnnnnn that thing looks great! Congrats dude! Glad you got the Mark sorted as well!
I'm REALLY digging the stained wood finish on that guitar. It looks great!
Love the tone and look of this. I am a 4 time Solar owner and fellow Nashvillian. (and new subscriber) I have yet to find anything I don’t like about these guitars, I have an Evertune on my 7 string and frankly I never have to touch the tuners. I think you made the right decision on Solar..🤘cheers bro!
that is the most drop dead gorgeous metal machine I've ever seen! Love the chocolate brown oil rubbed style finish. All class that one! Looks great, sounds great
RJ in his metal era
Phase 😂
A metal duo with you might be a funny thing XD Get on it for the sake of youtube guitar!
@@kaivalentine9664 metal isnt a "phase"
either you stay true to it.. otherwise youre a poser
Something tells me that no matter what guitar RJ is playing, it's gonna sound good.
That thing is sick
It's fun to watch you play Funk on that Metal guitar. It reminds me of Prince when he sometimes played kinky guitars on stage. It's f*ing cool !
Last month I bought the 1.6 V Cannibalismo. What a gorgeous guitar. I love the Evertune but my favourite feature is the beveled edges where your arm rests. It is such a comfortable guitar. Hats off to Ola.
Awesome looking guitar, man. Congrats, happy NGD, and welcome to the metal family \m/
Happy you mentioned the confidence Evertune gives you to really go hard on the guitar if you need it sometimes!
I kind of prefer Evertune for bending, because I can go wider and harder on vibratos without ever worrying about going flat on the string after letting go :)
I recently had the urge to get a metal guitar, too, even though I play blues. I bought a Schecter Omen Elite 6 in Dark Cherry Burst, and had Seymour Duncan Black Winter pickups in black/pink zebra installed. I don't play any modern metal, but Jimmy Page style stuff sounds wicked!
That Dellinger you have can do anything. Caparison's are the best.
That's awesome man, I love it. I just bought an Ibanez because I wanted to try a Super Strat and they had a model that was affordable but still had all the bells and whistles on it- the Sp3 Kiko L. sig model. I like it- accept the floating trem.- kind of wish I had of gone hard tail- already having tuning stability issues. It holds tune after using the trem- but if you set it down, overnight- it always has to be tuned the next day. Which means about once every ten days or so- you have use dup all the fine adjustment and now have to unlock the nut, back the fine adjustments way off, tune with the tuning keys, and relock the nut. It's a pain in the a55- and you can't tune down without having to adjust spring tension on your trem and set it up for this new tuning. I'm going to buy a trem. stop and block it off- should improve tuning stability and allow me to tune down.
If you found yourself disappointed in the split coil mode that's because it isn't a coil split. What the Fisman Moderns have is an active voice (think EMG 81) and a passive voice (think PAF). There are fishman fluence pickups with a single coil in them, like the Killswitch Engage signatures, the Devin Townsend model, or the Tim Henson ones which even have a voice that's meant to mimic a nylon string -- which I'm given to understand they do without modeling, just like the rest of their pickups. I'm prepared to be corrected on that detail.
I bought the A2.6ON a little more than a year ago and it’s one of my favorites in my collection. Even though it looks metal it’s super versatile and fun to play.
I didn't expect a nice looking guitar, wow, it's really something!
I owned a Solar a couple years back and loved it when I first got it.
Sadly, it was another casualty to their common fretboard cracking issues they've had. Mine started cracking at the logo on the fretboard and I had to return it.
Hopefully their QC is better now. I know a lot of people had these issues.
about cracking issues i read on a certain forum, it happen in every Indonesian guitar made.
and i don't know it about climate change on shipping or just bad wood when making it.
@@jirosaves_theworld Maybe it's luck of the draw? I've had a Schecter Demon-7 from Indonesia for about 3 years now and no signs of cracking or sprouting or anything. Maybe using fretboard polish really does help. 🙂
@@ogretattoo I’ve never had bad luck with Schecter. I had a Hellraiser and it was one of the best playing guitars I’ve ever owned.
@@jirosaves_theworld Its just a shitty Solar Guitar issue. ola knows about it but would rather make shitty riffa to post on youtube
Have an A2.6 black , love it, my action was high as well out of the box
Yep I have 2 Solar guitars they’re metal AF although the Solar Duncan pickups are pretty bluesy.
Love it brother!!!Love Ola and cant wait to get a Solar.👍
I just checked the website. Really affordable for the prize.
Man I really dig that one. I think it's pretty cool what Ola has acomplished since he arrived on my radar. I haven't picked up a Solar yet but I've been on the website a lot just looking around. I think my only hesitation has been the headstock, I mean I could accidently stab somebody. Thanks R.J. it was kind of cool to see both you and the guitar out of the natural element.
5:25 This how I have mine all the time :) Its great for tracking and riffing! Perfect tunning and intonation no matter how hard or badly I play. Try it before you knock it :)
Bro, well done on that beauty you picked up. Ola put out some great and entertaining content for sure. You got a sub from me bro. Well done!!
As someone who loves pointy Metal guitars, that is one sick looking axe. It screams Metal, but still looks classy with that finish. I really want a guitar with an Evertune bridge. I have been thinking of selling a few guitars that don't enough playing time to fund a Solar with an Evertune. How does that guitar balance on a strap? I have yet to come across an Explorer style guitar without some neck dive.
I like the simplicity and clean look you went for on this one. Excellent!
That guitar is beautiful.
I own 2 Solar guitars and 1 S by Solar guitar. I absolutely love them.
That thing sounds ridiculously good. Love the finish and color. Looks like a fine instrument.
That's my favorite guitar and finish good choice mang!
Love the review R.J.! Also great taste in t shirts, I have the same one😂
Omg, I am going through the same thing, I am itching for a "metal" guitar too, those Jacksons are calling to me
Love it RJ! And who knew…. You’re a shredder! 😂
Great vid and I feel vindicated because RJ also hates the staples in boxes. I work in a guitar store and almost every manufacturer now uses them and they drive me freaking insane
Some great playing and a baddass guitar.Love your videos.
makes me want to get out my Solar and mess around with that Evertune. Thanks!
That’s a nice clean sound
Congrats my friend!!
got my solar with the evertunes for a couple months and it became my favorite guitar ever
MIKE D & AD-ROCK & MCA!!!! PERIOD!!!! love the entire video Rj you're a legend man
Would definitely love see you review a 7-string guitar at some point🤟
That shirt is fire!
Now you need to play some 80s metal...and have solar make you a pink model 😊 🤟👍🤟😳
I'm not a fan of 12th fret inlays on guitars, but other than that, I dig it.
Solar has been on my list for awhile. Someday. But sounds awesome!
I feel like solar guitars are gonna be the big guitar brand of the modern world! Can't wait to see what happens in the future!
Thanks for the Evertune lesson. I wondered about bending on them. Could it be called a "feel-stealer" 😁
RJ......rock hard, rock loud..........rock forevaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!!
Love the new guitar! I had been given a Les Paul as a gift in the early 80s and I can honestly say it was the most “metal” guitar ever..for me at least
W0W! curious, do you need to register that head stalk as
A DEADLY WEAPON in Tennessee? Ha!
Beautiful guitar.
That amp sounds fantastic. O yeah , nice guitar . Congrats
I'm also on a Metal kick theses days! I feel like I'm a teenager again....I just bought a Boss Metal Zone modded by Analogman out of pure nostagia. It was my first pedal in 1996.
My first “real” band was a 4 piece and the rhythm guitarist played a Jackson King V Pro through a Metal Zone into a Marshall half stack. He had the only “metal” rig in the band and man, it stuck out.
I didn’t know that his tone was supposed to suck until the internet told me so. Apparently, he was the only guy in history to dial in a great sound with that setup. 😂
That thing sounds SICK RJ🔥🔥🔥
I had one of those. There was a lot of sawdust on the inside, cutting out the switch. The fretboard was fairly sharp, not the frets, the side of the fretboard itself on the lower frets, so I sanded it down a bit.
Pretty sweet guitar otherwise.
Sold it and got an A1.6 to match my other one.
The evertune is awesome.
Nice guitar and nice play
Looks to be great value. Ola is a workhorse for his brand. Not going to lie though, most of the feedback I've seen for Evertune isn't something that would lead me to ever venture that way.
Does it chug?? Yep, it does!! 😁
Excellent versatile color choice
I want one now. Go for D standard.
Id love to see you run the gambit with the pick ups
Meaning id like to see there real life range, from metal to jazz
If theres one player that can tweek a guitar by feel and the controls its you
Sick shape.
Oh yeah it chugs!!
Cool dude!
Thanks for the video! Been trying to decide between a Schecter Banshee Mach-7, Charvel Pro-Mod Angel Vivaldi or a Solar S1.7AHLB but know one that I could find has spoken about the Solar neck feel and the Evertune in detail. Much appreciated but still makes my decision hard.
Can you get a 'child protection' corner, which would fit the lower horn of the guitar?
Nice review
I'm a Ibanez boy, but this guitar is really sick man😮
Evertune rules!
Love it so much.
Great program, you’re funny!
Nice fiddle!
you ought to play it on a real heavy amp like a Friedman or evh then it'll really shine.
Not a metal player but I'd like to try this.
The white guitar with pink leopard print does anyone know what it is I thought a Jackson but the words on the head stock I can’t make out
RJ have a question about another guitar you demoed. What do you think about the Guild Kim Thayil model? Cheers.
I am thinking about purchasing the Solar single cut GC6.2C. I am still not sold on the Ever-Tune yet. I tried a LTD EC1000 at Guitar Center and it seemed that the bridge was not set up properly.
Evertunes are kinda goofy if you enjoy vibrato. Solar guitars are awesome though and very affordable while still being quality instruments
@@Manley156 I don't find evertunes goofy at all, different yes, goofy, nope.... They are brilliant for recording
Fucking rad!
So when you put it in Drop D, it sounded out of tune. I don't think that was the bridge's fault... While I generally want my guitar as in tune as possible, there are some interesting sounds you can get with having a string or stings slightly out of tune. It seems to me that the bridge will maintain that out of tune setup through bends or anything else you're doing with it.
I wonder if it fights the intonation when you do a drop D tuning at the 12th fret. Does it retune the string fast enough that you can't detect when the intonation is set wrong? I suspect it does if it is in that zone where bending the string prevents it from going out of tune.
The huge problem with this being a metal guitar is how do you do a dive bomb? The obvious answer is with a Digitech Whanmy pedal, of course.
Your brief foray into funk with this guitar reinforces my belief that a guitar is a guitar, rather than a metal guitar or a jazz guitar. The other thing that helped me reach that conclusion was hearing Clint Strong get a perfect jazz guitar tone out of a Parker Fly.
So how comfortable is that shape to play sitting and standing?
Hey, RJ. This is a shot in the dark but did you happen to purchase a used Ibanez S540 in the mid to late 90s? If so, you may have purchased it from me.
No, my yellow 540 was bought new in 1990.
I absolutely love my solar EVERTUNE I have 2 of them n I love them both 🎸🔥please rub this in Ben Coombs ears 🤪🤪🤪🤘🎸
It looks cool!
Bad Ass!!!
My vote for tuning is C# standard.
I want one.
Is it one of those Solar brand guitars?????😊😊😊😊😊
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
achei que o motoboy Jackson Five tinha comprado uma Solar
I don't know why you'd want that modernist coffee table of a body, and I think Solars headstocks are kinda trash shaped but each to their own style. I liked seeing the out of the box experience and your takes on the evertune. This video was recommended to me by YT. I do like that Solar is at a good price point though and that they do have good quality control evidently. Sounds great and worth all the money but their designs is not for everyone. Too pointy, like a fork.
I came because I expected to see a guitar made of metal, instead some guy thinks only certain kinds of guitars can play metal. When I was growing up I remember people would ask if a guitar was a lead or rhythm guitar.... what the hell is a non-bendable string? I can bend all strings.
Nice chugger
Still one of the tastiest guitarists.
Chugga Chugga Chugg Chugg.
I love the Evertune! It’s so nice to just pick up a guitar and start playing. It saves time, and you don’t lose that idea in your head while tuning. I use it in bend-mode aswell, but I think the non-bend-mode is excellent for tracking rythm stuff, because it keeps you perfectly in tune, even if a string slips a bit or you’re a bit too heavy handed on the frets. Great utility overall imo
