this movie will be like an alien for westerners because it's rooted in eastern culture of a guy being shy towards the girl he likes so much and can't express himself in talking to her. this movie conveys everything without much talking and that's a great thing of this movie.

well it's cultural differences. The same way Indian audience here wants Jaby to marry Achara since ages but they are just into some other world. We can't really understand each others' countries' culture and how people maintain relationships but yes have to understand that expressing love is not the same in every other country. It's more pure here in India I believe

'96 most simple yet most beautiful movie ever, making a movie like this which doesn't have much dialogues, a simple story, no fany location or fight sequence, it's difficult and depends heavily on the actors. Lucky for everyone, it had two of the India's finest actors as the lead, Vijay Setupati and Trisha Krishnan. This is Vijay's best perfomance of his career.

No matter how many times I watch this movie, I will cry at some point.😂 I loved Vijay Sethupathi after this movie and he is my fav actor from Tamil industry. The younger version of Jaanu was so cute and her acting was top notch compared to the acting of the younger version of Ram.
All I wanna see is the thumbnail to the second part😂

This is the story of every Indian introvert man 😂 me included. Men feel true love and their first love is the only love. It's the purest form of love with no sexual connotation underlying it. But then reality hits you, and you lose that love and if life gets harder, you lose faith and trust, making you physically incapable of feeling love again. Men should have control of their emotions, that includes love. Otherwise they can't be functional and competent like this guy in the movie. On the other hand, women should pursuit the hardest to feel love for the man, because evolutionarily women are risk averse and find it hard to trust a man, let alone love him.

It was common in those days to have besties who would act and be called upon as sisters and brothers. Also in those days there was absolutely no way of communication between each other during the summer break the only mode of communication we used to have was the School or the TUTION centre. Many of us have faced this exact experiance where some one close to us just disappeared without a trace due to transfer during the summer break. Never to be heard or seen again.

Ok i watched the full reaction of you guys and i can definitely understand how frustrating this movie can be for you guys, especially Steph Sabraw was not havin it🤣. I'd say its because this movie only connects with audiences who was born in 90s and grew up in Indian conservative society and schooling. This movie and the characters can be easily seen as people with "mental health issues" and the main character may look like he is a "stalker". i was laughing when Steph was like "why isn't he talkinnnn......" the frustration was reachin the max with her 😂. I can totally see why. A important thing, the girl who calls "Ram" as "Brother" is actually not his blood sister, as far i know kids in school usually if they feel a sibling bond with anyone they usually call them "bro" or "sis", even own classmates and its pretty common in here and even cousins call each other "brother" and "sister" so subtitles in movies dont always mean blood siblings.
