It was seems odd that the use of barbed wire outside the course was mentioned early on but the fact that Stacey was decapitated by a barb wire fence was not mentioned.

Bristow is one of only two drivers to have been fully decapitated in an F1 crash.
The other was Helmuth Koinigg, who was decapitated by the guard rail at Watkins Glen in 1974 following a suspected puncture and him going under the faulty guardrail.
Other than that, the Welshman Tom Pryce was partly decapitated by the fire extinguisher carried by 19 year old marshall Jansen Van Vuuren at Kyalami, South Africa, in 1977 when his teammate Renzo Zorzi's car started smoking...

That's excellent information Paul. I was aware of both Koenig's and Pryce's accident but not the finer details. I'm principally an endurance racing fan, but also the history of F1 etc., so to have someone take the time to add value is great. Thank you. My best wishes to you.

Mike Taylor who was paralysed in the crash mentioned eventually managed to sue Lotus boss Colin Chapman, claiming the car was 'not fit for purpose'. Chapman settled out of court and Taylor received what he was due. As is mentioned in the video Lotus' were very fragile back then.
