You can sure throw that cast net, I tell you what. You can go to jail for that here in Nebraska. Is that a new jacket? Honestly, I've been fishing for catfish for a couple decades and I've now watched about 6 of your videos and I've learned a ton of new stuff about catfish, bait, boats, rod holders, photography, women, jackets, jet skis. You cover it all, man. Seriously, Dave, you make fantastic videos and you slay on those big cats. Don't ever change and I'm impressed and grateful for the effort you put in to your videos. You are the man!!
I'm terrible with a cast net lol 😆 I stick to using my 3ft ultralight dock runner by Shakespeare. I threw a fly with a splitshot 8 inches above the fly and a tank salmon almost grabbed the fly bottom rig. 😮 it's a good thing the salmon missed it would of broke my rod. It's too bad I didn't use my 7ft medium heavy big catfish rod by Shakespeare. I would have been able to land this beast salmon.
I’m 65, been fishing since I was a teenager. Recently started targeting cats and have learned a ton from your videos. Thank you for your “advice” and enjoyable work you do. From north central Ohio, Thank you again.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me
@Aden Jordan Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Love the advice on needing water to catch catfish.....ive been typically fishing huge parking lots with zero success ....your advice netted me immediate results👍
Dave, I don't fish anymore ... but truly enjoy your videos. The combination of real fishing knowledge and tongue-in cheek dry humor makes it for me. Thanks for sharing.
Dave this is the best video you have put out. I like all of them but this is a different kind of Catfish Dave video. Thanks for sharing all the great info on how you fish. Keep up the great work my friend. Thank you for your Military Service. God Bless America 🇺🇸
I'm terrible with a cast net. I tried using a cast net. I use a 3ft ultralight dock runner by Shakespeare. I tied a fly an a splitshot 8 inches above the fly. A beast salmon almost bagged my bottom rig with the fly and trophy bass by procure. Good thing I missed the salmon it would have broken my rod. If I had my 7-foot big cat spinning rod and reel combo medium heavy, I would have been able to land the salmon.
Dave I’m watching this bank fishing video in Nov 2022. I go back time and again to watch your bank fishing videos. Thanks for taking the for all your videos and advice that really makes a difference. Love all your videos old and new! Thanks for sharing!👍
Tying lines and watching a new Catfish Dave video, perfect combination. One of your best Dave. i get ask all the time what my secret is to catching these big cats on this big muddy river and these lakes and bayous around here in NW Louisiana and I share what I have learned in over 50 years of slingin bait but I think the best teacher is just doing the time on that river bank
I absolutely love watching your videos, and to hear you say walk around saying “here fishie fishie fishie” absolutely made my day!!! I say that every time I go fishing, which is just about everyday!!! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge!! It really is helpful!!
What a pleasure to hear a man say what he believes and believe what he says. I may have to try some of his ideas here in Montana in my pike water. Thanks very much!!!
Just found your channel. This was my first video. You’re funny as hell man! You had me from the beginning going on about water.😂😂😂😂 Love it man, keep up the informative and fun videos!
This is the video that brought me to this channel. I subscribed after watching it, then watched it again. Then binge watched alot of them after that. Thankful for Catfish, is my favorite.
Thank you catfish Dave. I live in Minnesota, and have enjoyed fishing for catfish since I started fishing. I'm 62 years old now, and still get "grief" from others that only fish for walleye. While I do fish for everything in the water, catching catfish has been so much fun.
This video came up in my suggestion box. I have been binge watching ever since. I moved out here to Colorado a couple of years ago from Georgia. I really miss my catfishing. They have big fish here, but man I aint about trolling for pike and lake trout. I will be taking a road trip back home in a week, and on the way back, I will be hitting some fishing spots near my birthplace of Lebanon, TN. Thank you for your time and work.
I respect what you do out on your river. Wholesome, and honest fishing. I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos when it comes to understanding the patterns of catfish. keep the content coming, Catfish Dave! peace & love from Indiana.
Great video Dave. Appreciate all of the knowledge you share. I was thrilled to meet you at the Catfish Conference. You've been a great influence to many of us. Thanks for sharing part of your life with us.
Great info, I’ve changed my whole gear and style since watching your videos, bigger rods, reels, hooks, bait. My catching has dropped, but I guess I’ve cut the small fish out. Looking for that one big one. Thanks for sharing.
Another good one CFD! I appreciate you saving me from an hour of anything on television! Blues are limited to the Southern-most part of my state and I've not yet made a serious effort to target them. For flatheads I really like bullhead cats for bait. We have three varieties, all are quite similar, especially in the "horn" department and a serious bite. Fish caught in streams or rivers are more hardy on the hook than pond/reservoir caught samples. Buddy and myself learned years ago is to use a snap-swivel and cheap pre-snelled Eagle Claw etc. hooks. I prefer a gold Aberdeen but they swallow those as deep as baitholders. We leave them in and drop 'em in the bait tank and re-up. For fresh bait a flashlight and pliers make for easy handling. Gonna have to order some of those hybrid cirlces. I did buy some 5/0 circles but I've honestly never fished them. I know my Mustad wide gap aka Eagle Claw Kahles and Gamakatsu Octopus hooks. Great success but new tools are worth investigating! Cheers Dave!
Catfish Dave, your videos have been very helpful. I just got to Clinton TN for a job. I travel for work and I can’t believe I’m in your area finally trying to hit all your local spots. Thanks for all the NE Tennessee insight. I’ve got 5 months to wear these big catfish out. Catch and release of course.
This helped me a lot. I've been a fisherman my whole life and always loved catching catfish. I've never started actually targeting them until recently though. This video has all the info I've been looking for all over the place. Thanks man 👍
Hey Dave. I’m from Oregon. Traveling country. We don’t have any catfish there. Learned a ton from u. I’m at Lake Ouchita in Arkansas. Going below Dam tomorrow to try my adventure with cats. Thank you u gave me confidence to get out there
I just got and used a surf setup for reaching a channel from the bank.... I can't wait 'till next summer to throw 4 oz lead in between jet skis. Seriously though this has been the single most influential video to get me fishing from the bank again. Great info, just wish that every time I watched it I had another thumbs up to give.
I appreciate your knowledge, as a young man we commercial fished the Tennessee river side of Kentucky lake, around Fairdealing area, loved it, we used cut bait all the time. Monster cats bullalo sponebills, great fishing.
I just watched your video Dave, LOVED IT! Not only was the video informational, but extremely entertaining! Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing!
I really enjoy your channel. I am not a very good fisherman but I still enjoy fishing. I think you provide a lot of info and my hope is that it will improve my abilities. Even if I don't get much better at fishing I wanted to say thanks.
Personally I think this is the best video seen from you. All are great but this one is gold. I've been big cat fishing for around 20 years but I learned some things I can apply to where I fish and see if they work here as well and most of them should. We have some skipjack but not in enough abundance to target them as bait so we use mostly gizzards and live bluegill. Threads when we can't get gizzards. Thanks for a great vid. It made me sub.
Here's another question, how do you feel about using higher end spinning reels for big cats? Something like Penn Spinfishers? You can even buy longcast version
@@reybuSWAG typically conventional reels are better for casting heavier weights and baits. hard to throw much over 4 or 5 ounces with spinning gear..my baits and sinkers can weigh up to a pound..there are lots of big fish caught on spinning gear it's just not my cup of tea..2 to 4 ounce weights and smaller pieces of bait will cast better on spinning gear especially with 65 pound braid.
@@catfishdave8192 Yeah you were right....recently picked up a 10ft longitude rod and tried to cast 6 oz + bait with my spinning set up (Kastking Sharky III and braid) at Ft. Loudon Dam...what a nightmare. Couldn't load the rod to get a good cast, I casted not much farther than my 6'6 mh rod. Probably more so bad technique but DAMN these rods are stiff.
I appreciate the helpful information and dry humor. Shout out from Georgia down here in Macon. I like to do a little fishing and I'm trying to learn how to catch big Flat heads. I catch blue cats on Mullet they seem to like it. Thanks
Yooooooo Dave!!!!!! You need to do a full Remake of this video brother 🤘🤣🤘 every time someone asks me how you fish for catfish I always share this video and they always say man that man make me laugh so much! 🤣 more than 1 million views bro you need to do remake on this one! ✌️😎✌️ love you brother you Dagblasted!
by far the best video on catfishing i learned more from this than 100 other videos..ive been fishing a pond where every1 pays 25 and biggest fish of night takes it..prolly 50 bobbers floating every 5 yards..i use creek chubs and crawdads..thats the 1 bait i didnt hear ur opinion on..crawdads..im just trying to stick out from every1 with hot dogs..after watching this video i feel more confident..who knows mayb i will win 500-600 this sat..fyi u gotta use there hooks and its 3pm to midnight if u have anymore tips

i have learned a lot from your videos a little about the moon phases, slop of the banks, time of year . i caught a 52 pound flat head in what you would call a back water creek. so thanks. CPR
Very nice and true. Lol. But great video nice fish man I want to go so bad just may go tonight since I can't camp for my birthday weekend I'll just go fishing take the grill and hopefully make catfish taco. Lol have a great weekend sir. God bless
"You want to catch big catfish? You gotta use other fish" the best piece of advice ever given. Absolutely true crawdads work real well for lunker's my pb channel 22lbs on a crawdad
Those Blue heavy weighted Cast nets work great for us down here in SE Texas for catching Menhaden Shad during the run in deep water. Like around the mouth of the Brazos River. I live on a creek & have a stocked pond. I can say, we’ve caught larger Flatheads & Big ole Blues in both Live Bluegill & Cut Shad. Seems to be the preferred bait for big cats. You’ll notice the difference in a cheaper slow sinking cast net compared to a more expensive fast sinker. It’ll catch ya much more bait for sure & worth the extra few dollars. All these tips in this vid are spot on. I’m glad to see someone talk about the Cast nets & gear.
Great job there Cuz. You killed me @8:30..gave zero franks attention to the fish behind. Enjoyed the lesson and thanks for your service. PS- those fish with the stripes sure do come off the grill like a champ. And flatfeads are excellent table fare. Maybe more important now that a protein shortage is coming. Cheers and tight lines.
