That’s such a tough situation, and I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. The staggered payment schedule can cause serious issues when bills like rent are due early in the month. One idea might be to talk to your landlord or property manager to see if they’d allow a grace period or adjust the due date-some are willing to work with tenants in situations like this. Local rental assistance programs might also be worth looking into for support. You’re doing your best, and it’s frustrating when the system doesn’t seem to help. Stay strong!
Well Duh! It doesn't matter when the money comes in or when the rent is due. If the money comes in early then don't spend it and keep it for the rent. The same if the check comes later. Hold the money until the rent is due. There's a reason why there are so many complainers here. They don't know how to budget.

With the rising cost of living, it’s heartbreaking to see how difficult it is for seniors to live comfortably on Social Security alone. How can we ensure that older adults receive enough support to not only survive but to truly enjoy their golden years? It’s a question we need to address as a society to honor and care for those who’ve worked hard their whole lives.

HAH!! My rent was $450.00 three years ago. It's now $650.00, and the landlord raises the rent up every time it goes up. His excuse is due to property taxes. Also, my vehicle insurance also went from $142.63 to $252.86. Their excuse? Due to inflation. AND DOESN'T INCLUDE UTILITIES WHICH INCREASES EVERY YEAR. So where is the help in that?
How can a person save any money, when they keep cutting our checks after each election? Plus if you're able to work part time, you can cause your check to get cut also. It's a no win situation!

I am on SSDI and have a mental disability. I cannot work or my benefits will be taken away. My question is, am I aloud to do the stock market? Will that take away my benefits?
Good question! Generally, being on SSDI doesn’t mean you can’t invest in the stock market since SSDI is based on your work history and disability status, not financial resources. Income from stocks, like dividends or capital gains, usually doesn’t affect your SSDI benefits. However, if you’re receiving SSI in addition to SSDI, things get trickier since SSI has strict income and asset limits. It’s best to consult with a financial advisor or contact the SSA directly to make sure stock market activity won’t impact your specific benefits situation.
He didn't say he was receiving SSI. He receives SSDI. Some only receive one payment. You don't always receive both SSI and SSDI. You should contact SSA, possibly record the information or have a representative, and legal assistance!
@@evelyntaylor4470 You’re absolutely right-if someone is only receiving SSDI, income or assets like investments typically don’t impact benefits. SSI is where strict financial limits apply, so it’s important to clarify the type of benefits being received. Contacting the SSA directly is the best way to get accurate info for individual situations, and keeping a record of the conversation is always a smart move. Thanks for pointing that out!
@@moneyinstructorQuestion: doesn't Any income that puts a beneficiary Over the $2k limit, start a benefit Decrease? If a beneficiary earns $2k or over, I thought one's benefits would then be garnished to keep you at $2k. You Cannot have over $2k in assets on Any SSA benefit can you?
@@e.1766 Great question! The $2,000 asset limit applies specifically to SSI (Supplemental Security Income), which is needs-based and has strict financial rules. Having over $2,000 in countable assets can impact SSI eligibility. However, SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) is based on your work history and disability status, so there’s generally no asset limit for SSDI, and your benefits wouldn’t be reduced because of savings or investments. That said, earnings from work could affect SSDI if they exceed the limit. To avoid confusion, it’s always a good idea to contact the SSA directly for personalized guidance on how these rules apply to your specific benefits.
And if i end up homeless, i keep thinking that without a direct home to live in i may end up getting my ssi payments permanently suspended. I rather NOT do shelters due to crazy people with mental health issues of their own. And i am definitely NOT a people person.

Yes, retirees who started receiving Social Security benefits after May 1997 will get their December payments according to their birth date. Additionally, everyone will receive a COLA notice in December, detailing their benefit increase for 2025.
Agreed. I know because I've been in this category and struggling for a long while. Social security administration would rather torment people who get SSI and be incredibly disrespectful to not give more money. They would rather do that than not do anything else entirely.
For those that are beginning to receive social security, DO NOT expect your SS payment to be deposited in your account on the day they scheduled it to be. Mine has been as much as 3 days late at times.
I am also on social security and like others have said it's a joke no one is laughing at seniors need to get there money tax free we already payed more than our fair share over the years

HOW CAN YOU SAVE MONEY WHEN SOCIAL SECURITY IS WATCHING YOUR BANK ACCOUNT EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE THEY ARE FOLLOWING YOU THE STRUGGLE IS REAL EVERY THING IS GONE UP BUT THE MONEY AND MY PAY CHECK
Good afternoon, is this the same as the money that people on Medicare get monthly for food 2024 it was 250.00 2025 it’s being reduced to 225.00. I never applied for this spending card because I think it has something to do with changing your insurance to another company..
It's true, you can't save. I get 914 a month, my rent is 825. How do they expect us to live ? By the time I pay rent & bills I'm broke. As soon as I get it, it's all gone.😢
Question here please--- IF you get your soc sec check (retirement) on the 3rd of the month --- when your new date (Dec 18th) kicks in, ARENT YOU LOSING MONEY? LOOKS LIKE THE DEC CHECK COVERS 6 WEEKS😳 ????
Social Security is not free money. SENIORS do NOT get the SAME AMOUNTS. The amount you get depends on how much you PAID into it over your working life. Social Security is NOT welfare money. They can't just give you a set amount like they do welfare. So families that never held a good paying job their whole adult lives are having a harder time paying bills due to the "amount they receive". I know they say that $1200 is what standard seniors receive, but I've never received that amount ever. However Medicare programs do help in other areas like $100 in food and with dental and health programs. BUT that monthy benefit in dollars depends on what you (or your spouse) paid in during your life. Just because illegals on the border get large amounts like $2500, doesn't mean they earned it, it means it is welfare money and Obama started giving them free money when he was in office. FREE money is what is bringing people over the border. Time to put a stop to that. If they had to struggle every month like seniors do in America, they wouldn't be storming the borders to get free taxpayer money that they didn't earn.
RIGHT SSDI is for people that paid in to the system...40 credits over 10 year period BUT about the border...yeah they would still come cause the money was free health care was free housing was free well that will some come to an end the DEMOCRATS THAT ARE IN OFFICE ARE EVIL DEMONS they wanted all these ILLEGALS TO BE ABLE TO VOTE FOR THEM...THE LORD SAW IT DIFFERENTLY but I bet in about 6 months the people that voted for Trump will be saying to themselves " What did who did we vote for "?? Sad to say but that may happen and hoping not but we shall see
The cola increase I got last year left me with less than I was getting just to pay for medicare, so with this 2.5 percent cola raise is a shame to even suggest it’s a raise when medicare is going up to $185 / month so I’m going in the whole again this year. The person that is responsible for saying just what the cola raise should be hadnt been in the grocery store because one item I got one day went up .44cents the next day. Canned goods that used to be $2/$1 at almost all stores before Covid are now .86cent to s$1.25 per can!!!!!!! I’m not happy with our leadership this past 4 years. Almost every item has already increased more than 30 percent and more in some cases. So cola is so far from actual factual prices. It’s a disgrace!!!
I do not know how much you make a month or if your on SS SSDI OR SSI but you may could receive what is called "EXTRA HELP " This will help with your part D medicines and may open doors to other help as well Like if you only draw so much money a month you could Qualify for LIS ( low income Sud) or you may qualify for SLMB, Or QMB,Or QI check with your Medicare Office
Does anyone else realize us who are on SSI,SSDI are actually being KEPT reliant on the man. As a country, we insure the well-being of other countries but leave our own to suffer. Shameful.
It’s seems that when we get an increased our Social Security we have this extra money it for about a month then everything increases go up like your rent , food , medical bills, Who really benefits from having an extra Social Security it’s not a seniors that live on Social Security only that’s for sure , that’s how they take it away from us. The only that an increase in Social Security is just to make the government look good, but in a long run, it does more harm because everybody increases everything and we can’t live anymore.

Can you move into govt subsidized apt where your rent payments will be one third of your income? For JeanettIvy.
@@mariaharris6289 how's that possible, it's given to border crossers
Well Duh! It doesn't matter when the money comes in or when the rent is due. If the money comes in early then don't spend it and keep it for the rent. The same if the check comes later. Hold the money until the rent is due.
There's a reason why there are so many complainers here. They don't know how to budget.
Raise 2.5%
Cost of premiums RAISED $10.00. They NEVER want to HELP the recipients.
Don't touch our social security account
Thank you. I was worried about any negative changes this year.
If you can, add some news about snap/EBT notices?
Thanks! We’ll try to add updates about SNAP/EBT notices in the future. For now, keep an eye on your mail or online account for any updates from your state’s SNAP office as they usually send notices about changes for the new year around this time. Let us know if there’s anything else you’d like to see covered!
2.5% is a joke. Things are getting so expensive and you want us to survive. With the new whatever you want to call him coming we on Social Security (not SSI or SSDI) are screwed. How deplorable🥵🥵🥵
That’s right every time we get a cola our rent goes up
It’s such a frustrating cycle-every time COLA gives a little extra, expenses like rent seem to eat it right up. It feels like you can never really get ahead, even though COLA is supposed to help offset rising costs. A lot of people are in the same boat, and it’s clear the system doesn’t do enough to account for how these increases affect things like housing. You’re not alone in feeling this way, and it’s a tough reality to deal with.
Politicians need to live on the same wage and raises as we retired!! 😡😡😡

The reality is that with everything being so expensive so is no way we can even save a dollar wen on ssi ,it’s crazy we have to spend every penny on the dollar

I’m so sorry you’re going through that-it’s beyond frustrating to be denied SSI, especially when you’re dealing with serious health challenges like heart failure and high blood pressure. You might consider working with a disability attorney or advocate if you haven’t already-they specialize in appeals and can often make a big difference in getting claims approved. You could also reach out to your local Social Security office to review your case and ensure all medical documentation is complete and up-to-date. Don’t give up-you deserve the support you need!

Live out of the country, I live on SS and save $500.00 monthly.
BEING ON SOCIAL SECURITY KNOW ONE CAN'T SAVE UNLESS THERE IS A RETIREMENT CHECK COMING IN THAT WORTH IT,
So true!!!
Dude, it's the "Because, WE SAY SO!" corporation, OK?
Interest rates mean nothing. On SS all I see is the price of everything going up except my monthly check.
My money goes out to Bill's don't have money for food. It's impossible to survive on Penny's from SSDI
How can a person save any money, when they keep cutting our checks after each election? Plus if you're able to work part time, you can cause your check to get cut also. It's a no win situation!
@ellenharris-dorris. As long as we have money for ukraine and Israel.

Yeah we will get a cola increase but then our rent is going up and our medical is going up and everything else is going up so we are not really getting a cola increase!!!!!!
We need at least a 40% increase every month in our Social Security 2.5% is not enough to help anybody absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know what stupid idiot came up with that but they need to be fired.!!!!!!!!
Everyone will get them on the same days as always😊
And if i end up homeless, i keep thinking that without a direct home to live in i may end up getting my ssi payments permanently suspended. I rather NOT do shelters due to crazy people with mental health issues of their own. And i am definitely NOT a people person.
The cola is still not enough especially they raise health insurance each and every time they increase cola so how will that help. What a freaking Lie!!!!
Only my retirement...thanks po more power
Will retires get Get something that start receiving after 97
Yes, retirees who started receiving Social Security benefits after May 1997 will get their December payments according to their birth date.
I'll believe it when I see it!!!!
Why do they sound like cola helps what a joke
SS for some people is not even enough to pay rent ...
The cost for Medicare is going up to $185/month. So, expect to have LESS SS in the future.
Helo, question, citizens living overseas can skip the Medicare pmt. Thanks ❤
For those that are beginning to receive social security, DO NOT expect your SS payment to be deposited in your account on the day they scheduled it to be. Mine has been as much as 3 days late at times.
OMG ! How could we save when our SS cheque is not enough to pay bills 😢

No call your legal aid and find a food bank if your a senior. Apply for ileap or call if you have 211 and ask for help with utilities. Dont forget church es might help. Maybe a roommate for awhile.
THERE NEEDS TO BE A "MINIMUM WAGE " OF AT LEAST $1,500 A MONTH...NO MORE 800 OR 900 A MONTH FOR MILLIONS OF SENIORS....
These cost of living increases are not accurate!!! COLA NEEDS TO BE MORE each year! Corporate companies giving bigger raises than social security.
I think the less you make the MORE OF A PERCENTAGE A PERSON SHOULD MAKE NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND

Shameful.
It’s seems that when we get an increased our Social Security
we have this extra money it for about a month
then everything increases go up like your rent , food , medical bills,
Who really benefits from having an extra Social Security
it’s not a seniors
that live on Social Security only
that’s for sure ,
that’s how they take it away from us.
The only that an increase in Social Security is just to make the government look good,
but in a long run,
it does more harm because everybody increases everything
and we can’t live anymore.
