Just to remind EVERYONE. Thor/Tor in norwegian and Odin are NOT real. It s just fairytales and mythology the vikings MADE UP!!!
They dont exist and never have just as much as Trolls DONT excist for real either. Just like St .Claus DOES NOT excist either. REMEMBER 😉😅😉😅I am norwegian and know none of those are real , ok ?
Seems like younger generation thinks they are for real. 😅but they have NEVER lived or been real.
      Fantasy , ok.
Greetings from a REAL norwegian 😊🙋‍♀️🌍
So just want to get the facts real.

I’ve visited the Lofoten Islands, albeit briefly, sailing up the coast on the Hurtigruten Post Boats en route from Bergen to Tromso. It looks rather unworldly as it appears on the horizon as you sail towards it. We arrived about ten at night but it didn’t matter as it never got dark. Well past midnight our captain took the ship down the steep, rocky Trollfjord and pirouetted the ship with its thrusters at the end of the fjord with mountains towering over us with the midnight sun glinting on the snow capped tops. Breathtaking. And nerve wracking as spinning the ship in its own length - it wasn’t that big of a vessel either, not half the size of a typical cruise ship - was the only way to turn it round in the narrow confines of the fjord.
And yes, people do hike/climb in the Lofoten Islands. My friends drove their camper van across Europe to Norway this year, spending three months up there, including the Lofoten Islands, from where I’d get WhatsApp pics on an almost daily basis of them up something high and pointy! And yes, they are beasts, even though are well past the accepted age for such extreme exploring. A deck chair on a beach just isn’t for them!

Fantastic filming of my beautiful country Norway. I often forget how beautiful nature is, but I am reminded of it by watching the reaction video. As a Norwegian who has lived here all my life, I have not been to Lofoten myself, because it is far from where I live. But we have mountains and lakes mostly throughout Norway and every town is different. You show how interested you are in my country and so fun to see what you like. Hope you will come back soon with more reaction videos of Norway

They don't have to worry about getting anywhere "before dark". The sun never sets in northern Norway during summer. If the weather is overcast, it's like overcast daytime all night through. And if it's blue skies and sunny, it's like that all night. Midsummer, it doesn't really get dark at night anywhere in Norway. I live not that far north of Oslo, and I have been weeding and mowing my lawn well past midnight several times this summer. Not as bright daylight as it is up north, but not dark by any means either.

    Hi beautiful women :D
As a norwegian, I wanted to answer some of the questions you ask about.
To start of, Halloween IS celebrated here, but not as seriously as in America. Many places they have started to hold celebrations called "Hallovenn", which translates to hallo-friend (mostly for kids). Adults dress up and use Halloween as and excuse to party throughout the night. Costumes are put on, and a few places the kids get to go trick or treating, but as said, not as big/common as you would hold the celebrations.
Lofoten is pronounced with emphasis on the first o, and fonetically you say the o as you would say book, look and the end vocal-sound in ground (if that helps), and make a full o with your mouth as you say them.
You didn't ask, but "Å" is the last letter in our alfabet (we have three extra letters in the end: Æ, Ø, Å). So as the last letter, it is kind of fitting the they named the end of the road "Å" :P
Hiking, it's done wherever one can get to, so YES to that. As far as camping goes, it is correct what she says, BUT many take small tents and camp out up in the mountains nonetheless!
What she doesn't mention in the video, is that residents of small and remote villages kind of loves new people (cuz we love to show of our country). And often if one has problem with find a sleeping place, you would easily find places off the typical travelling road, that would help with sleeping under a roof. If you one day decide to travel there, make sure you go to the next biggest island north of Lofoten as well. (The biggest island is called "Hinnøya", and is a part of the Lofoten region).
Love to watch your videos, found you guys recently here on youtube, and looking forward to every video :D

About those places to pull over you referenced, if you look at the roads out there, they are really narrow a lot of places. So those pockets on the side of the road are often "meeting places" you turn out on to let meeting traffic pass. If a roadside "pocket" has a blue sign with a white M on it, DON'T park there.

About Halloween- Though Im not norwegian but danish but in both Denmark and Norway we have adopted the celebration of Halloween but we probably dont go just as crazy as you do over the pond. I love Halloween, cause any time for celebration is a good time :) but some people here resent the fact that American holidays are coming over here because we already have a similar holiday where we dress up as something scary and go ringing doorbells for candy, and some people are scared that Halloween will replace this holiday.
Our Holiday is called Fastelavn, which means -The night before the faste. We celebrate this in febuary both in Norway and Denmark. As mentioned we dress up scary, ring doorbells for candy, but another fun thing we do is hang up a barrel with a black cat inside and beat the barrel with a bat until it breaks and the cat "hopefully" runs away unscathed... okay, we used to do that back in the day.. today ,thankfully, there is just a picture of a cat on the barrel and usually oranges and candy inside that falls out when the barrel breaks :) But back in the day, when there was a real black cat inside, it was supposed to be a symbol of the evil spirits of the winter months that was finally being chased away ..(poor cats.. but fun history)

We don't celebrate Halloween in the same sense you do in the US, but we have slowly imported aspects of it. Like some kids do trick or treat now. We do have an older tradition called "julebukk"/"nyttårsbukk" that is very similar only at Christmas/New Years where kids dress up and sing carols at peoples door to get treats (I personally never did as a kid, because I only ever heard old people talking about it, but after I moved to Bergen I learned that here the tradition was still very much alive when suddenly I had neighbourhood kids show up at my door, lol). Spooky decorations are sold and some places organize Halloween parties. But it isn't a massive thing here. I get only a handful of kids trick or treating, as usually kids mostly go to people they know or their very immediate neighbourhood. And there have been years where no one showed up as well.

My family is from Lofoten, it's a truly special place, i love being there and lived there a year myself. I love watching up upon the very same mountains my ancestors have lived under for millennias, it was a rough place to survive some islands had no drinking water so parents would send their kids rowing to the mainland (closest bigger island) for drinking water. Back in the day people had maybe 1 cow for milk and a few chickens for eggs but the true wealth and the reason as for why people settled out here in the first place is the gifts of the merciless sea the fish from Lofoten built the nation and the income from the taxes of the fishing in Lofoten is what funded the construction on Nidarosdomen in Trondheim.
But the seas also took as easy as it gave.

As this is yor last Norway Video for now ,the real topper is to visit the city of Bergen at the Extreme north end in Winter and you cannot switch them off the, Northern lLghts display most days Only downsdie is at tha Latitude depending on the time of the Year the Days are very short on light (about 9am to 5pm) so at best the Sun is on the Horizon many days and the Stars are very visble due to almost zero air pollution

Therefor the title of the original😃 Lakols can drive with and though this beauty, usually tourists can not. The police on Lofoten has their char of stories 😄 B TW : The humbrule is that the left side called Lofoten and the right side called Vesterålen., coming by car from Lødingen. And Vesteråålen is worth a long visit as well 😀😃

I think phonetically I would suggest saying:Lo as in J-Lo+ foot + end - the D. The norm for Halloween in Norway is the trick or treat night. The sub 30ish people do have more decorations and such troughout the month as I believe you do in the US. Ofc we dont do thanksgiving and 4th of July buut strangely enough many people use those dates to have a bit biggsr parties than a normal "weekend" party. No fireworks though.

Halloween has come to Norway too.Halloween stuff at the stores and kids going trick or treating. Not as big as US of course😂😊 What is funny is that at a store we call Europris (almost like dollar stores) they have Halloween and Christmas right next to each other. So by few steps you go from one season to the next

They showed on the map the Lo-Ve Islands.... so the LOfoten and VEsteraalen Islands.
So much more to see, and such a different field and topography of the two groups of Islands. I live in VEsterålen, so 1.5 hrs north of Svolvær, if you take the ferry.
And actually, Vesterålen has some of the oldest mountain range in Europe. Lofoten is much much newer. just sayin'
In fact, Lofoten is more steep, rugged and "male", while Vesterålen is more rounded "female"... and also more family friendly - and less tourists. ;)

Don't know why, but when I'm visiting those "fjordy" areas, the mountains seem even taller when their peaks are hidden in the clouds. I think maybe it's because my brain gets confused by the steep inclines and therefore thinks that they must stretch upwards forever, even though I know they do not. Almost like an illusion.

Lofoten is suffering from the same problem as Iceland is. Small land area, small resident population, and out of control tourism. It's a double edged sword. They jobs and income is welcomed to be sure, but the overcrowding of tourists flooding these islands in the tourist season is causing a lot of wear and tear and littering.

A tip from a local (meaning Norwegian - not from Lofoten - but have been there!); just visit some of the places just south or north of Lofoten, and you will have it almost to your self. And just skip Lofoten. And it`s equally stunning!

Which is why we want a tourist tax so that we can actually fund the infrastructure needed. It's not a new thing for Lofoten to take in a lot of people for a while.

@@mikecross5170 I have family up there. If you visited outside of the tourist season, the overcrowding an littering won't have been a problem. In that case, you wouldn't notice because it won't have been overcrowded. I was talking about the wear and tear of the increased tourism during the peak tourist season. People there are very nice, but nice people can have problems, too. When the nature and weather is at it's most beautiful and outdoorsy, and the locals can't go for their regular, peaceful nature walks with their dogs like they're used to, and tourists are partying loudly a stone's throw from their homes all night long they can't can't sit on their porches and enjoy their summer evenings, it doesn't ad quality to their lives. Tourism was much easier for the locals to handle before Instagram, as mentioned in the video.

I'm Norwegian and I learned some stuff. I have never been to Lofoten. I thought it was funny she said the town "Å" was at the end of the road, because it is also the last letter of the Norwegian alphabet. I had no idea there was a Norwegian town whose name was only one letter. :P

Sometimes if you tell elderly people that they have a nice wiew from their housee you'll get the answer "what view".
Gotta say one thing tho, if a door of a house is open don't just walk in expecting its a museum, people live here, and don't put up your tent in people's yards or at a graveyard as yes we have episodes of this happening yearly

It's actually kind of funny as far as the fishing village of *Å* is concerned. Because it is located at the very end of the road (Europavei 10). And as much as the name *Å* itself is derived directly from the norse word *á* meaning river because of *Åelva* (the river Å), that runs directly through the village/area. *Å* is also the final (end) letter in the Norwegian alphabet. So I think that it's kind of fitting that it's located at the very end of the road and it just so happens to have that name 😄👌
