- BSR vs. Three Notch Lodge. Chef Skillets!
In a past video, I compared the BSR Chef Skillet to a modern Lodge, and the BSR came out on top. Now, it's time to compare the BSR to a Three-notch Lodge Chef Skillet. They are similar in many ways, and the only two things that pop out are that the BSR has a wider cooking surface and is slightly shorter. when you pick up both pans, you also notice the Lodge is slightly heavier. Even though they are very similar, the BSR heats up faster and takes the win again!

👏👏👏BSR for the 🏆 win. The lodge is also a nice looking pan. Guess I'm just prejudice, I've loved BSR since I inherited my mama's pans. 😊Thanks for the comparison Huey. Stay safe with all those tornadoes 🙏.
Both are great skillets, bsr may be lighter..
They are both pretty.
Either one of those skillets would make a man proud
Great video, that just made me hungry lol
Both are nice.
Both cooked great. Not sure why the BSR heats up so much faster than the Lodge chef skillets. This one is really close in size and shape and i thought they would perform the same. Both will definitely be used at my house!
@@hawgwildcastiron2023 Same reason that it's lighter. The BSR is thinner. That makes it lighter and faster to get to temperature. A carbon steel pan (~95% cast iron) is even thinner, so it heats up even faster. The flipside is that thinner pans also lose heat faster. You've got to adjust how you cook things accordingly. A lot of times when I'm using one of my Lodges, I'll turn the burner off entirely before I'm done cooking because I know it's going to be plenty hot enough to cook in for quite awhile after. I don't do that with my BSR pan because I haven't gotten used to the timing of such but I know it cools off faster than my Lodges.
