To break out the piano and sing a solo on the biggest night of their lives so far, having never done it before in front of an audience, let alone 10,000ish maid fans, takes a lot of brass monkeys.....and she nailed it!
I don't know her personally but I a proud of her because I've made comments in the past that during live shows she should be playing the piano instead of backing tracks.
I checked the capacity of Yokohama Arena - 17,000 so even more impressive! I have watched this so many times and it hits me every time!@@chuckvelten5337
The comment on disrespect is not needed . How can anyone deny the beauty , emotion and time Saiki put into this . This for me the perfect showcase for her talent . Saiki after all is the reason I found Band Maid . She just sealed the deal . She is amazing You can just picture the others off stage beaming with pride and love for this lady .
This was her first time playing an instrument and singing in front of a crowd and it was in front of thousands of fans at one of Japan's most famous arenas. You could tell how nervous she was but her courage won out in the end. She is one impressive lady. 🥰
the best part of this is right before Saiki and Kanami did an acoustic set and everyone thought Kanami was going to play the piano part.. until Saiki gave a cute little smirk and sat down... it was pretty awesome to watch ...
I love the way the band push each other forward to find new talents. The same with miku's solo. Kanami was in tears for her. I'd much rather they stretched themselves like this than struggling to write and sing in American.
Saiki here... she is wonderful to the point of being scary. Her combination of throat and heart is charming and lethal. Her sing is an intimidating sound of art for me. Thanks Sixx.
There was a huge gasp of surprise in the Arena when Saiki came and sat down at the piano. Those of us with Prime knew that Saiki had started to learn both guitar and piano, just playing chords as an accompaniment to her singing but she has now moved on and It was still a massive surprise that she is now confident enough to do this at their bigest gig. None of them stand still which is a big reason why I respect them so much as artists.
Definitely. I'm only allowing myself to view it because I paid in full. And in order to encourage others to do the same. Bargain of the decade. Saiki has a faultless performance. Utterly confident on the piano.
I got mine last night and watched most of it. I think there were some video / sound issues for the first couple songs but it got better as the show progressed. Not bad, but not quite their usual quality. But still well worth it!
Anyone that knows what Saiki has been through with her vocal chords can't help but cheer for her and her determination. She came through stronger and more powerful. Bravo Saiki!
Per the Gaijin Guys, Lovebites was at Band Maid's Yokohama culmination show -- classy! (Although there are many Japanese all-female hard rock and metal bands that I enjoy [and respect] tremendously), Band Maid and Lovebites are atop the mountain alone [for me]). When you think of the (often crass and boorish) competitive stance that exists between so many Western bands, its so encouraging the see the genuinely supportive posture that exists within and between so many of the Japanese groups. Japanese hard rock and metal Ladies, you are the class acts of the world!
Listening to the members of Band Maid is like peeling an onion. There are SO MANY layers of talent in this group. As they mature and gain a larger audience, I hope we get to see more of those layers. I, for one, never knew that Saiki was a very proficient pianist. Her vocal skills have never been in question. I agree this solo by her showcases her talent not only as a vocalist, but as a musician. Wow!!!!!
Hi Bobb, it's been a difficult last 3 months for me & i was gonna surprise you tomorrow by being back on your live stream but how could i not surprise you tonight when you react to Saiki's beautiful rendition.🥲
Hey there, Sir Holloway. It really was something else, wasn't it? I mean the whole show and this part in particular. I have it on good authority that the following conversation took place yesterday: Mincho: Sai-chan, I love you even more now! Your piano playing was great and you know how much I love your voice! Saiki: I've been meaning to talk to you. This new song you sent over has a piano part. Now just who do you think is going to play that? Mincho: Oh, you of course! I wanted to surprise you! Don't worry, I made your keyboard parts a tiny bit easier when you're singing. For this first song anyway. Oh, and I ordered you a whole bunch of keyboards that will surround you on stage like Rick Wakeman-san.
@@Kevin6059 HAHA.😆 Thx Kevin it was a remarkable Okyuji wasn't it, & a fitting finale to their 10th anniversary "Decade of the Maid" year. I'm glad you've got your ear to the ground cos the way Mincho keeps getting Akane to up her bpm she'll want Saiki to play like Little Richard.😏
Sunday *BAND-MAID* performed a concert in Yokohama where they played for more then 3 hours / 33 song setlist during this concert *KanamI* and *Saiki* performed an acoustic set and heading back to the main stage saw the piano and thought *KanamI* was going to play it since she played piano before picking up the guitar but to my surprise it was *Saiki* I believe she start learning the piano back in 2020 and to perform live in front of 8,000 fans is something special.
Hi Ya Sixx hope all is good in your world. Yep everything you said, Saiki's musical and entertainment growth over the last ten years encapsulated in this one rendition . Amazing. Big cheers from Oz 👍🍻
@@SixxDaze Been a bit busy mate I'm a Grandad again, another beautiful girl, mum and bub are doing well and I assure you the Sixx Daze t shirts are still worn a lot 🤗👍🍻
Like "Puzzle" with the acoustic lament and angry band version, "Choose Me" can be the same, a personal offer in the piano version and "party" atmosphere in the band version. Got to witness both versions at Yokoari, Po! Great reaction, Sir!
Great reaction and a magnificent performance. I still like the original way they do the song too. Not better or worse, just different. Best thing is now we can listen to both. They actually peformed the original later in the show. It was a 33 song setlist, I think.
Such a brave move on her part, at such a huge concert. No room for the slightest error. Just her & the room. Nowhere to hide. And notice the respect from the audience. Total silence. A 'western' audience would have some idiots yelling or whistling or whooping, ruining the whole effect.
Is there any current band that you can think of that has a BROADER-RANGING repertoire than Band Maid? (Lovebites is in the same discussion, but I still give Band Maid the edge in THIS particular aspect of musical presentation).
Among Japanese all-female bands, Nemophila for one, Gacharic Spin for another, Aldious for another. Quite a few Japanese bands have a very diverse, wide-ranging repertoire in various genres and sub-genres.
For more of this watch - PUZZLE - Acoustic version - ua-cam.com/video/ayJtzPkgZTc/v-deo.html - you will love the emotion that SAIKI and KANAMI puts into PUZZLE as well. BAND MAID could do this style on an entire album.
no way best version but interesting. Saiki has an adaptable and beautiful voice . however i would say same as you about Anemone. acoustic with Kanami .
Difficult to show emotion when singing most songs at 180 bpm. Sad but true. I'm going to say it again- If Saiki was to sing in English she would be world famous by now.
Nice job by Saiki, but it's apparent she's been taking piano lessons and is learning well. As far as a better rendition than the original rocker? Not close, dude. Choose Me is hands down their best straight rock song, in my biased opinion, of course. Po!
Always nice to see you and always appreciate your reactions. But where are all the self-appointed PR and legal representation for this band. That just a few years ago we had to hear at noisium. How this was taking food out of the mouths of these women. When It looks like people are posting stuff not authorized by the band just yet. Funny how that doesn't happen anymore or that much anymore. Or is it just select reactors and UA-camrs. That the cool kids club and circle jerkers that we had to hear complain about that years ago. That they went after and against ? None of this is directed towards you my friend. I just find it very hypocritical. Because like I said a few years back. Everyone was a self-appointed PR spokesperson for this group. And it got a little sickening after a while. Take care and be well always.
Thank you. I assure you that they are still around. I had two right off the bat. I chose to just delete their comments. I react to videos that are on UA-cam. I do not upload the videos.
