We call that tempered sorcerer Dwarfku, just chucking Kamehamehas left and right. We've found if you can't immediately dog pile him, it's best to just cede whatever part of the board he's on and focus elsewhere.

Love this series of videos, you are amazing!
I do have a tangentially related question to the video, given that thos faction is one of the more magic heavy ones.
How good are circumstancial upgrades, that protect against magic? Is it better to just ignore them completely, since some faction will never cast an offensive spell on you, or should they be taken often, since magic capable factions will destroy you otherwise?
Yes they seem cheap points wise, but all characaters have limited slots for relics and taking up one such slot is a real cost in my opinion (I am very much a begginer though, so I might be way off)

well, the biggest thing that magic defensive upgrades do is project interference
What interference does, specifically, is make it more difficult for spells to be cast when they target a regiment within 8" of enemy interference
It reduces the Attunement(Target Number) of the spell cast by 1, meaning a spell that normally succeeds on 3s, now succeeds on 2s, and given that the maximum number of dice a spellcaster can use is 8, and they need at least 2 successes to actually cast, it can provide a lot of trouble, even if the enemy isn't targeting you, because it's a bubble that also affects enemy regiments
Edit: to actually answer your question though, I would say it depends on 2 things
      1. What your local group consists of, if there are lots of spellcasters, probably a good idea
      2. Whether you plan on having the character with said upgrade in a more supporting role, given that interference is a bubble, it would probably be best to use such an upgrade on a more back-line supporting character

So for the elemental tokens, what if instead of auto passes, it instead gives the choice of juicing a unit.
Like on the offensive spend a token to gain Cleave +1 and if the sorcerer is attached to the regiment gain an additional benefit.
And on the defensive gain hardened.

I started about 2 or 3 months ago and I play Dweghom. I am not sure that there defense justify there lack of speed tricks or cavalry. I play a lot vs Wadrhun and I look at the warrior vs the brave, they are equal in clash and defense where some Wadrhun are less defense but more wounds and have an evasion score (such as the vets and some cult units) which I tend to equates to the higher defense of the Dweghom. I feel that the coding of Dweghom as Dwarf is partly to blame as it is almost assumed that they last longer but I am not sure they actually do. Then because of this coding they have to be slow, lack cav and be apposed to innovation.... I would rather them get coded as Children of War, most/all forces that can use cav do and war is often a time where technology and doctrine advance quickly. War is not slow and stagnant it is quick, brutal, and ever changing.

Fixing elemental tokens..... that is difficult. This is off the top brainstorming. First I feel like you have to balance all the creeds abilities, which only makes this more complicated. So in an attempt to remake temper and ardent and make a new hold creed I purpose figuring out what the focus points are.
Temper is the characters mages. So I would have your school give you an effect you spend tokens for to empower a unit near you or effect a roll. So this is a matter of how complicated do you want to make it, but for a simple example you could have an earth sorcerer let people pass defense rolls within 8 of them where a fire sorcerer lets you pass attack rolls with in 8 of them. Simple basic dull. Alternatively you could make it more complicated fire sorcerers ambient magic warms the blood and enrages the mind of a unit with in 8 to give it flurry. I think it is a neater one and lets you bring in rules that the faction does not have lots of.
Ardent focus I feel is on the army. I hate ripping off mechanics from others but in this case you could do something like old dominions dark power. Every unit would have a fervor and as some condition is met your total increases and now they get to do these abilities. If that sounds to old dominion like or complicated you could change it to universal army wide buffs around resolve, so may be at one threshold you have oblivious and another you now gain fearless. Just saying fearless dragon slayers could finally be a thing, fear me Apex.
Hold creed.... This is new and I would base it around duals and increasing the usefulness of heavy units. The Hold Raegh can take all the heavy units. So something like Heavy units an extra move the turn they come in and now pursuit of aghm causes the negatives when your enemy refuses it.

Dweghom dueling rule works great because you can challenge with your character. They say no. Then draw the unit card and challenge kill their character and gain a bunch of buffs

    • @b00dies

Assuming you mean draw the next card, so the unit the character is in.
You can't do command stand duels of you have a character in the unit.

@@b00dies the way I saw it TO because it says "may make a free additional dueling action" so if you have a character in the unit it costs an action

This sounded so cool that I went and looked at the rules to see if I could do this! It would be a hell of a cute trick in order to catch a tricky character and duel them down. But unfortunately after looking over The Pursuit of Aghm rule, I don't think the combo works.
"Infantry Regiments in this Army, without an attached Character Stand, may have their Command Stand perform a free additional Duel Action"
The way that reads to me is that if a regiment doesn't have a hero, the unit's character stand can then do the free duel action and target an enemy character. But if they have a hero included in their regiment then the ability doesn't proc, and they can't do the duel. But then again I'm definitely not a rules expert so I could be off the mark because, again, Kentucky Public Schooling. LOL -Joe

@@kentuckyfriedwargaming5527 sadly "without an attached character stand" seems to be pretty clear: no heroes allowed in the regiment, for this ability to work :(
