Interesting AU concept, this reminds me of my favorite school book series, Maximum Ride. It’s about the government stealing parent’s babies at birth and run tests on them. Only the most successful projects escaped the lab, and they fly for their dear life. Forgot to mention they are human bird hybrids. One of them is a hawk I think and there’s also a raven. Due to the labs tests, some of them picked up unusual behaviors/powers such as high pain tolerance, an eagle’s eyesight, wings, and mind reading, technology hacking, water breathing, etc. Each of them is unique and the book is really interesting if you want to check it out.
