    I was surprised to see Nichicon capacitors go bad, but might be fakes even though they have a good name on them. There is a "Mr. Carlson's Lab" video where he disassembled two capacitors, both have a good brand name, I think it was Nichicon, and you can see a big difference in size between the counterfeit capacitor and the good one. I'd like to build his leakage detector, but in the mean time I use a micro amp meter in series as I slowly increase the voltage with a variable transformer. Electrolytic capacitors always have SOME leakage, but it's in the range of about 10 micro amps after they are fully charged. Pretty cool watching how the needle jumps around quite a bit, even on a good capacitor. Thanks for sharing these SMPS'S with us! Always job security with as many of these that are out there.

    Hello Mr Haseeb. Is it not better to use more capacitors in parallel to have a lower ESR?

    Dear Sir, many of your videos feature such power supplies (rectangular, adjustable voltage, 12V, 5A, 60W). May I ask what application they are used in (battery charging perhaps)?

    I would like to share something i learned about capacitors, if you have 1 UF 35v and you want to replace it with the same rating you need to pay attention to all the details such as esr and low impedance and its more expensive, its the same rating 1UF 35V but you will see some marking on it, and by checking the datasheet you will know if its completely the same or there or its different. If you are repairing some expensive industrial power supply or any other expensive things make sure you put the same cap. This is what i wanted to add. Thank you

    Bună ziua. Respect pentru cea ce faceți. Am si eu o sursă de genu 12v 4.1 amper. Mi-a crepat 2 condensatori și sa ars si intecratul UC3842D. plus rezistenta de la mosfet de 22 microfarazi care merge la pinul 3 al mosfetului 5N65C. Ce cauzează explizia condensatorilor? Cu respecr.

    Selamün aleyküm haseeb hocam. Yayınlar için teşekkürler. İki kondansatör kullanmak uzun dönemde fazla yüklenmeden dolayı kolay hasar görür mü? Kapasitörleri bozan belli başlı faktörler nelerdir? Allah'a emanet olun.

    • @HaseebElectronics
      @HaseebElectronics  11 місяців тому

      hoş geldin sevgili kardeşim. kapasitans değeri aynı olduğunda aşırı yüklenmeyecektir. sadece dahili ESR değeri biraz yüksek olabilir. 4 kondansatör, her biri paralel 1000uf ve ben 2200uf paralel kullandım, sonuçta kapasitans 4400uf civarında olacak ama ESR'de ufak bir artış olabilir ama herhangi bir sorun yaratmayacağını düşünüyorum

    Bună ziua. Am și eu aceasta sursa și nu reușesc să-l depanez. Au pușcat condensatorii de 1000 de uf. IC Ul și rezistorul de 0.22 ohmi de la pinul 3 al mosfetului. Toate le-am inlocuit mai puțin rezistorul de 0.22 ohmi nu am găsit. Temporar am montat un rezistor de 22 ohmi. Pe ieșire am 5 V .Poate cauza acest rezistor problema mea? Menționez tranzistorii sunt buni octocuplorul este bun IC-ul am pus nou și condensatorul de 22uf al ic ului este nou. Diodele sunt bune inclusiv diodele zener.

    Knowledgeable vedeo. But why use manufacturers 04 capacitor in parallel when single or double capacitor same Microfrade can solve the purpose. Pls clear this.

  • @chessapk5034
    @chessapk5034 11 місяців тому +1

    the only thing. which you certainly know, the overall ESR will be slightly higher now due to parallel resistance of the 4 caps ESR vs 2 caps ESR. but it wil probably be fine especially if the new caps are a quality brand name

    Great tutorial, already like comment subscribe.
    I'm from Indonesia, I have a problem with the SMPS on the "ANJING" brand battery charger made in China using IC UC3842B on leg 7 (imput) with a voltage of 12 - 14 VDC, on leg 6 (output) there is a pulsating voltage of 0,5 - 1.5 VDC which goes to the MOSFET gate 7N65, on the drain leg the voltage is 210 vdc connected to the transformer leg, primary Elko voltage 320vdc, output 0 vdc, where do you think the problem is sir? I removed and checked several important components in the primary and secondary which had normal values...
    In this conditions, is the UC3842B still normal or is there a problem? Thank You

    Surprised that the output was fluctuating so much whilst not supplying any current - had the circuit been under load I wouldn't have been surprised - the capacitors weren't anywhere near as bad as I expected them to be maybe they fail more under the higher voltage when in circuit?

    I think its gonna be better to have 4 capacitors, because all the stress goes to those 2, but if u have 4 its divied equally among them and they can store power more effeciently

    I almost always prefer to have more capacitors in parallel . You have 2 good capacitors 1000uF/16V. So you can achieve 6400uF/16V

      When two caps are found out of tolerance/failed it is good practice to replace all of them because the other two will fail soon. They are your typical badly made cheap chinese caps from early 2000's that have known issues with bulging.
