yeah i will literally die on this hill defending Colin, that man is not only the greenest flag but the least problematic amongst the previous lead men...like...he is apologetic, genuine about his insecurities, a mamma's sweet boy, play no games with his feelings, and all in all the sweetest little baby like- for once let the girlies enjoy a sweet man
I've always been a Colin girly. As heartbreaking as it was to hear that he would never court Pene, it wasn't as bad as what the other man had done.

Plus he felt truly awful about it and apologised. His only crime is not really understanding what his feelings meant due to the rakish nonsense he's been surrounded by his entire life.

My infatuation with this fictional man is actually concerning.
I agree that Colin is the least problematic, his flaw is that he is oblivious and the reason people are mad (myself included but he won me over this season) was because he and Pen were friends and then he showed that level of disrespect in front of his friends at a party (in her house) where anyone could here him and given their respective status in the ton would reduce her marriage prospects which were already low (for some reason), he basically sabotaged her in his desire to look good in front of his peers since the assumption would be that there is something wrong with her if this man who knows her so well “wouldn’t dream” of courting her
Girl you do not realise how much time it takes to plan, film and edit a whole season. They're not making us wait, it's just what it takes!
I know old dramas didn’t use to be as well made but we did use to receive 20+ episodes of dramas every year
And with the amount of subplots in bridgerton it shouldn’t be as hard as they’re making it out to be
Also the reason this season took so long was the strike which is understsndable but the showrunner has decided the others are also going to be in 2 year intervals when the previous were 1year apart

In fairness to Show Anthony, Kate literally did beg him to marry Edwina, so she should get at least like 30% of the blame for that fiasco.
Oh they're both on my hitlist. It was a good 50/50 on both their part. But I've already yapped enough about it last season so I didn't wanna drag Kate again this year.
Me! I adore Anthony and I always will. He has been so badly misjudged by so many people, Those of us who follow the story closely, know why he acted as he did and know he deserves sympathy , not scorn.
I agree and I wouldn't have thought I'd ever like Anthony after s1 but he got me in s2 (which we got some more of Kate's backstory). It also gave me regency romance back aside from the drama they stirred up that villainized the couple but I loved Kanthony despite the stacked deck.
While everyone loves to blame Kate, I think she is the overly criticized while Mary gets a free pass for being emotionally and financially MIA to both of her daughters.
I always knew Colin is so much better than the other men in the show yet could not find the exact words to defend him. From now anyone who talks cr@p about Colin, I am going to throw your video on them. But as a member of the wallflower community, I did want to see him fight for Pen's affection a little more. After all our girl has been longing and thirsting for him since season 1.

Colin wasn't a bad guy but it is easy to judge him more comparing to others because he didn’t get that build up. I actually wished that they made him more flawed. Instead of focusing only on carraige abd mirror scene, they should have given him time to process. First of all, colin was ashmed of penelope in season 2 and that should have been properly unpacked, considering he still saw those men, why didn’t they have any reaction? We didn't get to see him defend her. The writers and show runners were so scared to show his ugly side that they didn't let us even know him properly. He was a third child, you see clearly that pen was the only person who saw him. Was he really in love with pen or was he afraid to lose one person who completely saw him? This should have been unpacked. He was in love with her and we only know it because luke newton was showing it with his eyes, but other than that, we don't know much. Would he have not married pen if he didn't compromise her? Technically he got involved with her because he loved her and that was obvious but he loved pen, the innocent, sweet kind girl and not Lady Whistledown. He hated her and not even him but if i know that i love someone and they are my best friend and i come to know their entire different side, i wouldn't have the same feelings. The way pen built up Colin's perfect image, colin also had pen's perfect image. When colin was keeping his distance from her and that bedroom longing gaze scene happened. It would have been nice if she stopped him from leaving and atleast talked to him. It wouldn't be about her self respect but about discussing it wuth her husband. They should have showb those conversations happening again and again. Instead of colin talking abiut his insecurities, we would have seen it. Maybe he would have told her that how she was the one person he always trusted ti be the same but he was shocked. They both didn't get enough time to unpack all those feelings. I love colin in his simp era. I love it but sadly real human males aren't like him, i literally have a friend who is a bit like him, who seems to always try to say right things and i know how harsh he is oj himself because he wants to be good to everyone and at tines we see his hatred for the world. Colin doesn't feel like a real guy. We don't know if he would ever take a mistress? We don't know if starts feeling small again because of Penelope's success. Only being someone's husband or wife is never enough especially in a world where men aren't supposed to be that. We don't know if penelope would always have to make herself small. Yes, colin said he loves her and yes he said everything and i fell for him and luke newton completely but we don't know much. We don't even know the letters pen and colin exchanged, we don't know how really close they were before season 3 from Colin's perspective that he said such awful thing about his best friend. Penelope got to see herself in a critical sense, eloise and her friendship had more substance than colin and oen's relationship because they both don't get enough screen time. The bridgerton show runner is lucky that luke newton is a great actor who made it believable that he was completely in love with penelope and nicola obviously was there to equally gave her best, if it wasn't for luke newton and nicola's undeniable awesome real life chemistry and friendship, the season 3 would have been a complete flop. Showrunner and writers did a horrible job but nicola and luke newton made the best out of worst
100% it the writer’s fault. We do get a few dialogues like Violet saying “you always care for everyone but yourself.” That give us an idea of his struggle and the fact that no one wrote back to his letters. But all these were very subtle hints. Colin deserved to have his story properly explored.
And the season cut into 2 parts was really the last nail in the coffin. He went so misunderstood

Ya no I agree, Colin was a sweetheart! Let’s not forget he would have married Marina, he was always there to help Penelope, did not want her sisters in either the books or tv show! Colin was the only happy character mannn everyone else was always miserable tf 😭 I am sorry but I like golden retrievers here always ❤

I didn't liked book colin..he had anger isses and was being passive aggressive to pen to hide his jealousy. For someone whose self confidence is almost negligible, he did quite a harm to Penelope and her only achievements as LW. I felt bad for her. Show colin is way good and people just hate him for not loving his future life partner because he wasn't ready to have serious relationship and was literally oblivious of her feelings for him😂
Anyways my favourite bridgerton ml has always been micheal Stirling who would sadly never appear on tv show 😔

The point is that he is no worse than any of the other men, yet seems to get more hate than the rest combined. And Penelope herself is far from innocent when it comes to harsh words. She literally makes money trash talking people behind their backs, yet I've never seen anyone talking about how she should grovel and beg for forgiveness from anyone. So, why are there such double standards for Colin?
