Sometimes getting shocks out in a garage on the floor soon as the shock is loose I put the shock tip against the spring push the shock stem back in the shock quickly yank it out as the shift starts extending again when their work outtheirreally s,ow and if their shot they stay collapsed the new one you use the packing straps that hold the shock install them one in the hole cut the yellow strap and let it extend and use the jack to make it collapse enough to put your lower bolts in

I have the same exact car same color 1985 it's been tricked out sacks racing suspension European headlights bumpers borla stainless exhaust system stainless door jamb plates and threshold plates wood steering wheel alpine system it was my. Others car I inherited been sitting in stoarge since 2012 Ican tell you all about w107 hell us mechanics at the mercedes shop I used to work at about sl cars.
Your shots are so close up, I can't tell what screws you're removing from where. *edit* I spoke too soon, later in video it's obvious. Thank you - big help
Not trying to hi-jack (no pun intended) your comment section here... but it's downright scary to see you using the floor jack to hold up the car and having no jackstands for safety.

Would it have been easier to remove the driver's side trim if you had lifted the convertible top cover?
