the thing that horizon and BotW _really_ have in common is that both focued on making a good game, rather than the "playing it safe" additude most industry executives have which ruins most games.

Yes, that part wasn’t phrased perfectly, but it really doesn’t have any tutorials other than how to use the bow and the inspect device tool thing. I’ve played the first three Uncharted games but it took me a whole 2min to work out the yellow ledge jumping mechanic and the awkward camera and movement controls and angles doesn’t do a lot for the game’s mechanics.
Plus there are Literal tutorials you just have to activate them to complete and get the experience points.

When I first saw the Stormbird, I was suddenly thrown back to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them..
And simultaneously cursed my luck on finding it at level 6.
I think I had a heart attack the first time I ran into one. I'd just finished polishing off and looting some Watchers and then all of a sudden I hear this loud AF screech from behind me and turn around to witness this gigantic metal Zapdos looking motherfucker firing lightning bolts at me like Zeus in eagle form.

Hill Hoe You know after you cross the Watchtower that’s located between the borders of the Nora and the Carja? Then, you go down and there’s a stormbird. That’s how cause I was so damn excited to explore a new area.

At some points of time when playing this game, I would see machines, such as watchers, escort other machines down a trail. It really shows how much love, and time was put into its AI, and the game overall.

This game is so damn good. Can't stress that enough. And getting platinum on Horizon isn't extremely hard. So get that bragging right!! Because it's absolutely worth it!!

I love how you have to discover the whole story as you play. It took me right up until the last couple missions to get the full backstory.
And i died when Elizabeth died, and i wanted to punch the screen when Ted Faro killed everyone and deleted APOLLO, that's how you make a great game! If a game can make me feel, it's a great game, simple as that.

I've just started playing it again, I'm about 15 hours in, Level 18 and I haven't even made it to Meridian yet, I've only just made it to Daytower... before running off back East to do other things 😂😂 I've spent so much time hunting everything and gathering resources to craft items with higher carrying capacity and doing side quests... Oh, and of course randomly and TOTALLY unnecessarily sprint sliding into bushes. I love this game, I struggle to find games with a story line that I want to play again all the way through after I've completed them but Horizon is just so fun and there's so much to explore.

Josh For me, they always come in pairs so no matter how well equipped I am, I end up metaphorically pissing my pants when they burrow next to md.
Corrupt one of them and then hide in bushes.
Josh I can't really tell wether that's true, as I only encountered one once and it didn't notice me. In my opinion, stormbirds are the worst.
They are hard but you just gotta kit the feet

I wouldn’t mind a Horizon prequel that saw the creation of the various tribes, or that follows the story of Rost. In the Rost version, a nice addition, near where he dies in Zero Dawn, we see him following Aloy as she grows up so we get both Rost’s background, and more development to Aloy’s character.
I definitely would love to see more of Rost's story. I want to know why he was made an outcast. I'd also like to see more of the back story to the Matriarchs as well.

What about a game about before the world almost ended
Matt Norris After exiting the womb of the mountain you can talk to Teersa and learn that; Rost lost his daughter and wife during the red raids. Distraught and filled with rage he asked the Matriarchs to appoint him as a Death Seeker. He traveled out of the sacred land in search of the people who killed his family. He killed them and he returned to the sacred lands border badly injured and nearly dead. The matriarchs allowed him to re-enter on the account of him being an outcast. Later he received Aloy as a daughter to take care of.

Also, Persona 5 is also on par with these two and was also one of the best games I've played in years as well! 2017 was a great year for gaming!

@Raza 9428 I’ve played both and I honestly think that Horizon is better. To me, Horizon has a better story, the gameplay is better, there is no weapon durability system which is really nice, it feels more alive which keeps me more involved, I like the side quests in Horizon Zero Dawn better, and the machines are way cooler than the enemies in Breath of the Wild.

I played on ultra hard difficulty so trust me when I tell you this:
You can run past the storm bird boss. The hardest boss battle. Just leave and come back then run past the bird.

Absolutely loved this game. Having a curious nature and wanderlust, I connected instantly with Aloy and loved the hunger to discover more. I loved finding missions instead of heading to marks on a map to find quests. I also loved Aloy's spunk and disregard for other opinions. Absolutely loved the aesthetic and the story too. This was such a refreshing game and an incredibly beautiful story.
Pro tip: Use slide (Run+square) and at the end of a slide do a roll (O) to have maximum movement efficiency

What I never noticed until the 2nd run through the game was how the game actually takes place in Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. And the DLC takes place in Yellowstone Caldera in Wyoming.
I live in Denver, Colorado and its awesome they used real life locations and buildings in game. You clearly whined up at Mile High Stadium (where the Broncos play), Red Rocks Amphitheater, and the Air Force Academy Chapel. I'm pretty sure the grand canyon is in there as well

Yep, the cowboy statues in Colorado Springs, Bridal Veil Falls in Telluride, the Maroon Bells, the Flat Irons in Boulder, the Denver Cathedral, the Daniels & Fischer tower on 16th street. Incredible. Then in Utah you have Arches, and Provo - I love this game so much.

In one of the voice logs there is a female soldier talking about how when they were fighting their emp's didn't work because the swarm was able to predict when they would go off and just power down.

I grew up in Colorado. The first time Aloy left the Embrace and found the rusted ruins of the Air Force Academy Chapel, I screamed, and suddenly realized what Nora stood for. After that, I went looking for other landmarks, and found them. Yeah, they had to play with distances and stuff, but seeing so many childhood memories as ruins - HOLY HELL, what a game.
Pulled an all-nighter the day I got this, LOVE this game!!
Facing two corrupted rockbreakers at once is possibly the most terrifying thing in the game.... Though admittedly I haven't finished it quite yet.
Play Frozen Wilds. Fire Claws are way too scary.
And with the Shield weaver Armor most encounters get pretty easy. The Armor is so op i actually thought about not using it because it takes the fun out and makes it a different game.
And then i started the ultra hard playthrough and died with lvl 60 to a couple striders...

I know that leaderboards already said it, but does it bother anyone else that he pronounces aloy’s name wrong?
Aloy's name is similar to Alloy for many reasons:
(SPOILERS)
1) She's an outsider to all tribes giving her the unique ability to work together with everyone.
She ultimately brings multiple tribes together to fight a common threat.
2) She can blend the human and machine world with her ability to override machines.
3) She's a child of man and machine: Sobeck and Gaia. She says something to that effect when she discovers her origins
4) She's a blend of the old and new world. She has a pretty deep understanding of the old world (she can make better sense of the recordings and journals) because she spent her childhood learning from information in her focus.
You can see this in the Frozen Wilds as she guides Aratak and Ourea through the Firebreak facility. Aloy is able to piece together that the facility's purpose from information she finds that the others have trouble understanding.
There are probably many other ways to interpret "Alloy", but those are the ones I found most significant.
Probably my favourite game from the last couple of years. Absolutely great game. This games studio absolutely rocks!

Deathbringer is the toughest.
Jui-Chieh Hsu Deathbringer and thunderjaw are pretty much the same size, although the Deathbringer is propably heavier.
The Metal Death is the largest, (thought aren't in the base game.) Second largest is the Thunderjaw followed by the Deathbringer.
From what I've seen rock breakers are the biggest machines I've seen

This was such a spectacular game with a compelling story and fluid fighting mechanics. I'm so glad I got to play it.

Well. Honestly. U have wayyy more games on ps4 than the switch right now. So say zelda is 10 out of 10. And horizon isb10 out of 10. I would still go for ps4. This game just has so much depth and story and SO many things to do it's insane. Of course there is a few downfalls like literally every other game ever made but it is truly amazing. I've been doing all the side missions and everything that game is just so fun very impressed with it.

Just started playing, after getting a PS5 with Horizon forbidden west, I decided to try the first game.

Lore-wise focused. no. not at all, yes.
First time i saw Horizon's very first trailer, i was like "no way thats actual gameplay", given Guerilla's history with Killzone 2 back in 2005.

Such a slap in the face when the person who gives you 107 Facts about a game you love can't pronounce the main characters name. They couldn't even play the beginning of the game when Rost screams her name. Takes me back to Avatar The Last Airbendor movie and calling Aang, Ong
My favorite thing about this game is the concept of you developing Aloy's personality.
People COULDN'T care less about the gender of the protagonist.

Preset protagonist allows for a better story, customized random character equals flat uninteresting story.
Random Onions The Soulsborne games too.
I was previously preoccupied with prejudice against playing opposite gender, after this game I realized it doesn't matter to the slightest. Soon enough, I was playing and enjoying slew of female protagonist games like Nier Automata and Gravity Rush 2.
I'm a guy but I like playing as a female in games, so this game is perfect for me.

By far the best/fastest/most rewarding leveling system I’ve experienced.
I ran off to do the DLC before starting “Climb Down” which leads to getting caught by the Shadow Carja.
I did the side quests/errands over in Blazen Arch, the place with Itamet and the place with the missing daughter/captured Shadow Carja-lover.
Went from like level 29-30 to 54.
Heck, tbh I was almost always at least 3-5 levels ahead of each quest
