Yr thumb should always be towards the ball of the baton when you start.. tail first you will not get the momentum that you'll get with ball first..

I'm 12 and I did baton once when I was three but I hardly did any tricks,I got a new baton and hoping to learn through videos and get on my age level before I go back to my dance class and learn more
