No jumpscares, no horrible monsters, nothing but infinite, dark and scary scary space. I couldn't stop thinking about the ending scene days after I watched it, in fact, I've rewatched it like three times more cause it was so freaking hypnotic and scary at the same time. The score is so well accomplished and it suits perfectly the atmosphere the movie created. I think it's fair to say this movie changed my life and made me feel so insignificant wich I think it is one of the worst things humans can feel.
The end is just void of anything. There were people on Mars waiting for some of the aniara passengers and years passed then their wholes lives then almost 6 million yrs. The rest of humanity on Earth or Mars could still be around generations later or they're long dead too.
This movie speaks volumes about the scariest thing I've ever encountered, the human mind. The Mima summed it up perfectly when it said, "There is protection from nearly everything, but there is no protection from mankind."
The bloody ending of this movie scared me shitless. Usually I never think of what is going to happen after I´ll be dead but this mindblowing music and the scene when the ship passes the first planet in 5,0 million years... That made me think for four hours straight. The saddest ending of a movie I have witnessed yet and I have seen literally thousands of movies...
I don't think that the ending was so sad. For sure Aniara's passengers last moments haven't been in joy. What i mean is that even if they all died, they reached the light, a new planet, a new world and therefor a new hope for life but not as human shape believable. If the Aniara has not that collision problem, they would be on Mars but like said the main character to the old spanish guy on a world cold, full of radiations inside same structures such as the Aniara and maybe not much better has Earth. And beyond the Anaria's tragedy, the ending is sad yes but it brings mostly hope for next generations. And this is a beautyfull message to rally sadness and hope as the same time.
@@somethingirgendwas6924 Yes indeed, bacterias have several properties, some can resist to deadly radioactivity for mankind. Some can live close to deadly gas effects from submarine volcanos activity. There are even theories that life has been brought on Earth from outspace rock many years ago, such as the Aniaria ship reached Lyre constellation at the end.
I don’t believe the ship is landing/crashing on this planet. I believe (it even hints at the beginning) that it’s just going to slingshot itself back around and will be back in the Sol System in about 5mil years.
Man i watched this movie at the worst time. My father had passed away just a week ago and i was in a very shit place mentally. I watched this and for the next week, i had feelings of derealization. I to this day think we just give meaning to our own lives and to think some higher entity cares about you is pure ignorance. Easily one of the best films to have ever been made. It deserves a lot more than it did
today i read an article about Oumuamua, a very elongated asteroid which crossed or solar system. and i thought: what if this is an "aniara", covered in stellar dust from its million year journey?
You'll get no complaints about this upload from me. I own the film on Blu-ray & have been waiting for this tune to be put up onto FB. Upon first watching the film I simply let this play over & over again on the disc menu, then kept rewinding it as it played over the movie's denouement. I find it utterly hypnotic.
We have something in common... The tune and the scene of that ship passing the first planet in so many years blew me away, I must´ve played the scene 10 or more times, again and again, I was mesmerized.
Жаль что большая часть русского комьюнити не понимает фильм в корне. Тут я прочёл комментарии и был приятно удивлён увидев единомышленников о данном фильме.
Lots of plot holes and inaccuracies on the technical side of things, but once you learn to view the film as a narrative on the human psyche, it's amazing.
Pretty damn good for a film adapted from a suicidal Swedish poet who didn't have the luxury of consulting with any experts on manned spaceflight in the early 1950s when he started writing, well before the Soviets launched Sputnik 1. I'm glad that you were able to grasp the inherent moral of the story because that is why it won a Nobel Prize. Most critics who detest the film are simple minded sci-fi philistines who need explosions every 3 minutes to keep there attention, so an importsnt existentialist message about human folly and cosmic insignificance will naturally escape, them while they nitpick at trivial things.
Kinda agree. My mind kept wondering why they weren’t trying open communication lines or launch life boats towards Mars or even try to repair the ship just create propulsion system to turn back or even stop the ship. They could have “modernized” it. Have it like Interstellar, where some crew members think humanity deserves to die so they sabotage rescues and repair efforts. That being said, still a great film that hopefully influences future space films.
@@curious1053 Why would you rewrite a Nobel Prize winning masterpiece to make another pedestrian Hollywood sci fi trope? Read the poem it was adapted from.
@@TT-ww8vv I did. That’s why I tried to imagine what a modern version would be. You can be faithful to the source material without leaving plot holes wide open that they are distracting to the viewers. I look at many reviews and many were confused as to why they didn’t open communication lines or how they still respected the captain after constantly failing to deliver his promises.
@@curious1053 i dont think any of your suggestions would be improvements. what you are suggesting can be seen in the film sunshine, and it doesnt work as well or have the power of this one. i dont see how they could make lifeboats and their issue was having to immediately dump all the fuel. i think the senario was ok enough to progress the film.
Me five mins into the film: beautiful, intriguing End of the film: My soul is gone, all of reality is a consuming, endless void, we are truly insignificant

Even the speed is close. Aniara was 67KM/Second. Oumuamua is 87.3KM/Second.
