Hi April, I'm Mexican but born is USA 32 years ago. As a MX Aguas Frescas is a staple in our homes. We usually blend the watermelon with water and sugar to make the drink. I'm picky so I have to use a colander then drink it lol. We do this for agua de limon, Sandia (watermelon) and, Pineapple, Orange etc.... This is the first time I have seen it done like that and I liked it !! The Melon stripes look good. I will definitely try this one :) Love u guys :)

You need to wash/squeeze out the juice off the "seeds" cause that's where the real melon taste comes from.

The Hispanic culture does the exact same thing but instead of scraping it we peel the outside and blend it with a little bit of water and then we add it to the sugared water! Im so excited to try this one out its so simple but looks very yummy :)

I've made this before, except I blend the cantaloupe in the blender along with the water and sugar, and when I want a treat I blend ice cubes with it, it makes a great slushy!! :)

I am Mexican and we also do melon. We call it "agua de melon" we blend the water, sugar and the melon together in the blender until is all liquid. But I feel like your would be better because I would eat and drink the melon instead of just drinking ;D

April, have you tried using cucumber or pickle cucumber? It is very delicious and very refreshing in the summer. In my culture we drink this every summer. The steps are about the same. But the only differences is we dont use that much water. The juice is purely the juice from the cucumber and we add a little bit of water to the cucumber meat & juice. I hope you would give this a try.
