      Thanks, I am glad you are enjoying the series. I wish I had started taking photos and filming when I was 14, I was not good when I started but over time I improved a lot, people ask me how I got good at this, the answer is doing it over time consistently, again and again. If you want to do this 14 is the perfect age to start, knowing you'll become a lot better over time.

      I thought I would add to it too, I started photography when i was around 15 with an old film slr camera taking pics at the drag races (im now nearly 40).
      Its something I have always loved but due to many reasons I didnt fully pursue it (i have a vast variety of interests) but even still i accidentally ended up becoming a published photographer for a magazine. NEVER underestimate what you can achieve if you enjoy something and are passionate about it, as when you love what you do it always shows in your work!
      Which is in my opinion why the video and photos in this channel are magnificent and are always such a pleasure to see :)

    Joe my next birthday is my sixtieth (Christ where has the time gone?), I live in the UK, fifty years ago my Dad's brother (my Uncle who's now in his eighties) left the UK with his wife to live in Whyalla in south Australia as he took up a job working for BHP as an electrician. I always wanted to go visit and learn about the life they had and visit my cousin too who I've only seen a couple of times in my life, alas one thing and another I never got to visit and experience your country first hand. Your films are really fascinating to me, I can at least get a real sense of the size and beauty of what Australia has to offer, I want to say a big thank you for sharing your travels, it's given me a real insight. Kudos to you for making the effort to get out there and explore. I've been a keen motorcyclist and photographer all my life so I can honestly appreciate what motivates and drives you, though in all honesty you do seem to like taking the most difficult terrain very often, lol. Thanks a lot for sharing these films I am enjoying them immensely, ride safe, cheers, Tony. PS My Australian cousin and his mates are motorbike crazy, I guess Australia offers the opportunity to explore in the true sense of the word, here in the UK we totally lack true wilderness!

      Thanks mate, I'm glad the series gives you a little bit of an insight into to this vast island.
      haha yes I find the harder the track the less people have probably explored, a lot of the time there's not much at the other end, but occasionally you find a gem and it's worth it.
      Yes the island is big so there are so many places to explore.

    Absolutely love your videos, Joe, thanks for sharing your adventures! As an anecdote, leeuwin in my native language (Dutch) means lioness, pronounced a bit like lay-win (with the emphasis on the last bit)

      Hi, thanks for watching, your comment was not clear to me, either you liked the video or for some reason it did not interested you because of the camping?. The video series is about my experience, as the title says "Solo" (I am traveling by myself) "motorbike" (the vehicle I am traveling on) "camping" (most of the time I am camping if it is possible) "adventure" (as nothing is planned, I discover things along the way). Each of the video in the series are different, some I spend most of the time on the motorbike when there is lots of riding to do, other videos I am exploring spending time off the bike, hiking, camping, swimming, surfing.
      I though the title was relatively clear, apologies if the title was not clear, I hope you find what you are looking for as there are so many wonder people making great videos on here, I sure you'll find it.

When you went past Northcliffe their is a turn off to the coast to a town called windy Harbour, it’s an “ off the grid town “ spent 2 weeks their doing a vehicle repair , doing some repairs to a little holiday cabin we stayed in - as it was my mates mothers friends that let us stay their for nothing if we did those few jobs . Drives me nuts seeing all these beautiful spaces -forests, beaches- and barely no one around. Living in the Netherlands, an overcrowded part of this world, I am sooo jealous 🙂
    Just tell me that you're choosing your spots so that no other traveler comes into view?

    • @freewayproject
      @freewayproject  Рік тому +1

      There are some crowded location in Australia but as soon as you leave the cities or touristy spots, there is virtually no one around. All the location I have been at in the series that you see no one is because there is no one around.
      Australia is a big place with not that many people (25million people in Australia). If you google images the size of Australia compared to Europe you'll see how many European countries would fit inside Australia and I think there are around 750million people in Europe. So with less people in a large area it is normal not to see people when traveling by road.

    Your air mattress reminds me of my first time using one, which was not all that long ago. Until July of this year I hadn't camped in forty years, so modcons like Jet Boil stoves, sporks, and air mattresses, were all new to me. The first night I was setting up camp in a city park not to far from the RE dealership, I had the tent set up, and the air mattress was next. The label said it was "self inflating," just open the valve and wait a bit, then close. Well, it inflated about half an inch and stopped, figuring that was it, I closed the valve. That first night was very, very, uncomfortable. The next morning I was back in the shop getting breakfast, and related my story over coffee with my mates. After they stopped laughing, I was informed there was no such thing as a self inflating mattress, at least not fully, that they all needed a few extra puffs to fill them. Live and learn. 🙄 Beautiful shots as always, looking forward to the next!

    • @freewayproject
      @freewayproject  Рік тому +1

      yes that self inflating haha. Mine wasn't self inflating, it was just very light and thin (cheap too) I gather it was main for nice flat smooth caravan park grass and a tent with a think base, not my super think tent base and me camping on rocks, sticks and all kinds of sharp objects to put holes in it, oh well see what I can find in Perth to replace it.

    Took my Himy up through the tassie highland lakes yesterday. 440km round trip and i was destroyed. You must toughen up eventually i guess? Nice to see you are getting better weather. 27 and sunny here!

      That sounds like fun, hopefully it wasn't too cold up there.
      Yes I guess the more you do it the more your body gets use to it.
      Yes it's always better in the sunshine.

      Thanks David, glad you're enjoying the series. I probably don't please the UA-cam algorithm somehow, or you needed to have been doing this from 2018 as there is so much uploaded now days, but I have a lot of fun on the adventures, making the episode and sharing them so all is good.

    It looks like you went along Chesapeake Road. That is a very enjoyable road. As you have discovered there is a lot of excellent dirt roads along the south coast. As some else has mentioned, pea gravel is a feature. It can get a bit skatey on a bike. Another great video.

      oh cool, I didn't see a sign but yes a very enjoyable. I had heard of the pea gravel from the old World Rally event that used to be in WA. I didn't come across any deep sections of it so was all good. I'd an amazing place to explore.

    Stunning series Joe! Appreciate all the effort you put in. What most people dont see is you setting up the shot, mounting cameras on a tripod, then riding off only then to return and pick up the gear etc 👍🙏
