I have collected nearly every AIP set out there, but THIS (along with the WWI Romanians and the Zulu) has proven to be the bane of my existence. I can not find a good price, so in the end, I might end up just paying 70-90 dollars for these guys. I think they look really great, and honestly, I wish they produced the British and Portuguese without the Brodie Helmet covers so that we could see the iconic helmets like we did here for the doughboys. By far this is the Holy Grail of AIP, and they don't disappoint! Great review! Update: This video convinced me to buy this set, and I just got the set off of eBay for 28 dollars. They're amazing! I definitely recommend if you stumble across a good price.
I don’t know why they don’t sell these guys anymore. It’s kind of ironic because it is an American company and one of their rarest sets are the American doughboys. It’s sad they don’t sell them anymore because these in my opinion these are the best ww1 molds they have. but hopefully they’ll make more in the future. Thank you for reviewing these yanks👍
Never heard of a "Trench Gun" before. Was it a shotgun? Anyway this was a great find and you're right; now they produce them in bags of 16 and the plastic is stiffer. Incidentally the "Wash Basin" helmet with the flat brim that you see on these guys was also used by the Royal Navy in WW2, but was painted blue.
The trench gun was a shotgun the Americans brought with them to fight the Germans. The Americans would call it the “trench sweeper” because it could easily take out an a lot of Germans in a trench. the Germans protested the use of the Americans using the “trench gun” or shotgun. But in the end the Americans used it till the end of the war. So there ya go mate👍
So the reason why these are so rare is because the owners of Armies in Plastic used to make their sets in China but after being screwed over they changed production over to the US they were able to only recover 90 steel casts for production AND the original owners were a married couple that retired
Hey man I’m working on a new stop motion film would you like to do a small part of voice acting for my film lemme know if you want to work together my films are quite good
Any advice on where to find one of these sets? I’ve checked everywhere, but everything says out of stock. Alternatively, would you be willing to sell me this set? I’m willing to pay 30 American dollars and up for it
I had the same paper thing, but it was in a box I got from an auction that was Indian Army WW1. This is a great set; I managed to track one down and it is worth the wait to find one of these for a good price if you can. Take it if you see it, that's what I'd say.
