I tried it this past Saturday. Me and some friends had a Barbecue cook off. It came out very good , better than I would have thought. For the injector sauce I used Rum instead of Brandy. I will do this Beer Can chicken again before the summer is done.
One time the chicken was browning too quickly so he made what he calls a "foil pashmina." You will definitely know you're a gay guy if you know what a pashmina is. This guy is the gay grillmaster
no one of you guys , have had a little doubt about the FDA ( food and drug administration ) legal compliance using a can to cook a chicken ?? I mean that a beer can is intended to be used to contain the beer not to hold a chicken in a BBQ . i think that the ink on the outside of the can , may be , release substances healty unsafe . If i where you i'll try to use something better to season a chicken ......
Geez, does this guy ever wipe his hands! I still don't see the benefit if sticking an aluminum can in something I'm gonna eat and then applying heat to it! Isn't aluminum kinda poisonous to be used in cooking? I thought that's why we don't use aluminum pots anymore.
Nope, aluminum cooking utensils and pans are not toxic. The reason you don't see pure aluminum pans is because stainless steel pans; pans with an aluminum core but polished steel on the exterior; heat more evenly and hold heat longer than aluminum only pans.
You have to remove the feathers from the bird before cooking. Those on the wing signal that the bird has not been properly prepared. Did you remove all internal organ parts that are often by-products of processing? No matter how good a bird smells after cooking, feathers left on it sends a red flag up about attention to detail given by the preparer. That is one chicken I would pass on.
We need the entire BBQ U show as a DVD box set or available for streaming ASAP!
Love this show! We think its way more exciting to watch than the regular cooking shows that are basically all the same...
But this show ROCKS!!
A tear formed in my eye to how beautiful this is.

Raichlen is fantastic. I've been videoing the results of a lot of his recipes on my channel. So far, I think the best was the cuban pulled pork. Yum!
