We Need To Talk About Evan Mobley...

- The one series in the playoffs to go 7 games is the Magic vs. Cavs series. And in this series we have learned a lot about a few of the young players. Guys like Paolo Banchero have shown flashes of superstardom. Franz Wagner has shown the flashes of being an absolute star. But one player that has really stood out to me for the wrong reasons has been Evan Mobley.
Mobley entered the NBA and made an impact immediately that had fans excited about his upside to be one of the next great big men. And while has shown incredible ability, I’ve always been skeptical of him as a player. Not to say he’s a bad player, he’s a very good one. But I did notice limitations that might hold him back from truly ever being the player some believe he can be.

My name is Noah Terranova. On this channel I make videos breaking down the film of basketball players in both long term and single game contexts. I use a combination of advanced stats, basic stats, tracking stats, and what I take away from watching the games to form my evalutions. My goal is to give my own perspective on the game with my own little twist on how I choose to present it.

If I had to say I would want the magic to win but I think Cleveland got game 7. The veteran presence that they have over the magic and a superstar in donovan Mitchell. Who you got? Love the vids use the real mvp
Less goo Cleveland
Mobley had 10 blocks in games 6 and 7. He had 21 against the magic
Look how allen improved his midrange past 2 yrs. So Mobleys young and players that work hard can vastly improve parts of their game especially midrange. His 3 point improved already. You have remember not all players develop at the same rate. He's also slowly putting on size.
I just feel like he sometimes forgets on offense he has Giannis length and can just drive and finish
I agree, but it's a lot of pressure when playing with a guy like Donovan Mitchell. His touches are so limited.
Dont worry. That uncertainty is evaporating fast.
Dude is going to be a straight up star.
unless he develops his offensive game, he is a certified rudy gobert. great defensive player just limited on offense
Gobert is nowhere near as limited as Mobley though
I mean that'd be a pretty great outcome. Bam is probably the right comp if we project him to grow
Mobley is way better offensively than rudy ever was. He can pass it @@jonathand.t.5051
@@jonathand.t.5051 hold on.. so the person who doesn't even attempt to shoot nor post up is the less limited??..
@@jonathand.t.5051that’s cap, Gobert has absolutely no offensive game outside of dunking and catching lobs
How do you think his renounds are
he won't be Wemby, but he was improving his shooting, just watch his last games before playoffs
Mobley will get there with his offense. He gets a little better every year & he's only 22, but to compare him to Victor Wembanyana is ridiculous. Wemby may very well be the highest rated prospect - EVER - coming into the league. He's certainly the best I've seen coming into the league, and that includes both Shaq & Lebron.
bro compared him to victor 😭😭😭😭
He’s gotta beef up and work on his offensive game
You need a better mic
Is a Alex sarr video coming out
Great video!
Ugh... nah...
still happy with cade selection. 😅
Then youre a clueless casual. Mobley is EASILY the best from the draft

His offensive ceiling was highly exaggerated coming out of college
I disagree his ceiling is defined by his athleticism. They weren't wrong about that unfortunately he simply doesn't get the touches or has the mentality to develop his athleticism into offensive production. His ceiling was based on the assumption that he would get the touches on the offensive side of the ball to develop it and that simply hasn't happened. I'd argue his floor was more exagerrated than his ceiling
@BigBroKuma even if he got the touches his game is limited and needs development in the off season to be improve, if you read the pre draft evaluation on many sites they talked about him being a genrational player able to play on the perimeter with ball handles lol everything they talked about is what Victor and chet actually were but defensively he is a beast no doubt
@@csy2068 he shot 38% from 3 this year and he's a grand old TWENTY TWO years old.
@themashugana9440 37.2% on a whole 1.2 attempts a game lol , and how much did he shoot in the playoffs? My whole point was coming out of college his offense was exaggerated, and I am not saying he can't improve
@@csy2068 he was never touted for his offense coming out of college. I don't know where you're getting that from. Any projections about his offense then and now are due to his length and athleticism, which is how most players are graded by coming out of college. doesn't matter how many 3s he attempted this year, he's made more of them this year & it's been a specific focus with him in the offseason. going from a 20-some percent shooter to what he did this year is progress. Now if he continues to work on it again this offseason and comes backs shooting 20%, then that would not be progress. But he's only 22, so let's wait and see.
Give him to Toronto;) our squad need him:) take all our picks:)
You'll never have him. Never. Not ever.
Get lost.
Cavs fan think Mobley can be an all around guy like wemby but this is never gonna happen. On offense Mobley is never gonna be a star
I think he can be a better Jaren Jackson Junior, with more defense. This is my ceiling for him, he was shooting well from downtown before playoffs. The fact that he never has ball in his hands ain't that good. He can be like a Tim Duncan type player without Pop or Manu or Tony, or a Kevin Garnett without that rude and effective offensive mind. No cavs fan thinks that he will be our go to guy
@@loscrap hes rudy gobert for many reasons and thats not a bad thing. Sayiong he can be like tim or kevin is a crazy comp which he has shown no similaraties to
He can
@@Death4Kstop it
Son, you have no idea what is or isn't going to happen. Keep your casual mouth closed.
Mobley is Giannis meets Garnett. Hes about to be a straight up star.
You dont watch him play, and you dont know ball well enough to comment on his growth.
Fwashes
Why? Who ist Evan Mobley? :D
