I’m 28 and as a teenager I got to experience having a group of friends like this with open arms and positive environment. We where adventurous and had many gatherings with our friends. Miss those times. We still do keep in contact tho 🙂

I wish Nelson had lived to see it (and all of Rupaul’s amazing work in between). I have no doubt he would’ve been a part of it in some way. I’m incredibly grateful these videos exist. I’m re-reading Rupaul’s first autobiography where he talks about his life in the 80’s, but to actually see it makes it even more special. Thank you for uploading these and keeping Nelson’s memory alive.💗

I remember on RDR reunion........Vixen was whining about being picked on....I think at that point Mama Ru had ENOUGH and told Vixen how the cow ate the cabbage.......the 80's was a tough time for drag or "being different" and Mama Ru told her I was a "BLACK GAY MAN IN DRAG and no matter WHAT I did the cards were stacked against me BUT I didn't let it drag me down" (not exact words but that was the meaning).......I was like YES MAMA PREACH IT PREACH IT!!! I miss these parties we had back then.. no cells of course so we would go from bar to bar looking for our friends.. and when we found them it was truly magic. Home parties of course too.. just a whole pack of dear friends having so much fun, gossiping, drinking ( some did drugs) dancing and bullsh*tting together. Now the atmosphere is just MEH.. I mean I know we're older ( me 73) but Social media.. the internet blah, blah.. have made us isolated ( of course this stupid corona doesn't help) and a good time ( other than family stuff) of getting friends together is gone. These videos by Nelson just make me feel so nostalgic...I loved getting dressed up to just meet my friends. Those days other than a lunch here and there are gone.
