    Hey you probably might not reply back but I am hoping and planning to study abroad in Singapore spring 2022 so its literally in like 6 months but I will be doing a different program at Singapore Management University and because your video also contained general information like weather, phone, bank I found it so helpful. Will defintely leave a like and come back to your video again soon. Thank you!!

    Hey! I'm thinking about doing my fall semester at NUS, however, I had a question about travel opportunities. I'm picking between Singapore and London right now and the thing about Europe is that since there are no classes on Friday, the weekends are longer so that obviously means more time to travel to other neighboring countries. I am a bit worried that I might not be able to get as much traveling done in Singapore because NUS has a regular two-day weekend calendar. In your experience, how often did you get to travel, if at all, and was it expensive? thank you so much for your response.

    • @DearYoungerMe
      @DearYoungerMe  5 років тому

      Hey Juan! It was actually really easy for me to travel even though we didn't officially have Fridays off. Because when you study abroad, chances are you won't be taking a full load and a lot of my classes didn't meet on Fridays. They were either MW or TTH intervals. And depending on what classes you can sign up for, you can decide if you want friday or monday classes or not. Don't worry about not being able to travel as much in Singapore; if anything, I think you can travel more here because SE asian countries are a lot closer than some EU countries. Also EU flights, food and accommodation is suuuper expensive. I went there this summer and I probably spent like double what I spent in Singapore and with a shorter stay. Airasia has really cheap flights for SE asia (30-70 dollars) while EU flights are (80-100 dollars) depending on where you go. But that's just been my experience. Hope this helps!!

    Hello!
    Were there programs offered at NUS that allowed you to travel to the other countries? For example, for community service/volunteer service and etc?
    I am going to try to study in NUS next year XD

    • @DearYoungerMe
      @DearYoungerMe  6 років тому

      Hi Allie! I'm not too sure on that! i didn't travel outside of the country specifically for volunteering. But if you go to NUS, there is an involvement fair in which different clubs tell you what their club is about. You can ask your questions there and I'm sure some clubs will have a better answer for you!

    • @ashuritree65
      @ashuritree65 6 років тому

      @@DearYoungerMe okay thank you so much! I was also wondering if they offered internships there? And do you think you will be able to make a video on how you saved up money to travel to other countries/ study abroad?

    • @DearYoungerMe
      @DearYoungerMe  6 років тому

      Not sure about that either haha but I think you should look at your home university to see if they have internships abroad in NUS. That way you can talk to your advisors who know your schedule better. And for saving money, I actually got really lucky because I received a hefty scholarship that helped me pay for the cost of my study abroad trip! So before you go, try to apply to as many department specific (aka engineering, business, human arts scholarships) and school wide scholarships as you can. And the most expensive part of my study abroad was probably the airfare to singapore. The flights to and from most SE asian countries are super cheap and the food there is super cheap as well!!

      @@DearYoungerMe Oh okay! Thank you for your insight. I am a part of the UC system so the EAP fees cover the flight costs, but I will definitely try to get scholarships! Thank you so much! Sorry for all the questions. I have two more lol.

    Hello, I couldnt understand the grading part very well. Are there no letter grades in NUS? Is it just pass or no pass? Thanks 😊

    • @DearYoungerMe
      @DearYoungerMe  6 років тому

      Hi there! So as an exchange student (as least for USC), my grades were all translated into pass/no pass. So as long as I got a C or above I got credit for taking the class! But if you are a local student then you get a normal letter grade

    Is Singapore one of the country that accept someone who above 21 years old to applying for undergraduate?

    • @DearYoungerMe
      @DearYoungerMe  6 років тому +1

      I'm not sure actually! I was an exchange student so I was already enrolled as an undergrad in another university. But I think it also depends on when you graduated from high school?

      hmm I'm not too sure. But only 5 people applied to this NUS exchange program from my school the semester I applied haha. But I do have to say, I think I was 1 of 2 who got it? So it depends on your school and whether or not NUS also has a spot for you in their exchange program (which changes every semester)
